Syntheses, geometry optimization, and electronic structure of N-and C-substituted benzonaphthyridines

Synthesis of N-and C-substituted derivatives of benzo[h][1,6]naphthyridine, bearing 2-hydroxyethyl group has been made by quaternization reaction and by condensation of corresponding methylbenzonaphthyridines with formaldehyde. For six derivatives of isomeric benzo[c][1,5]-, benzo[h][1,6]-, and benzo[f][1,7]naphthyridines the ¹³C NMR spectra are discussed. For ten compounds the geometry was optimized with the AM1 and, in one case also with the ab initio 6–31G method; their effective charge values have also been calculated.     

Synthesis of 2′,3′-dihydrosolanesyl analogues of β-d-arabinofuranosyl-1-monophosphoryldecaprenol with promising antimycobacterial activity

Two new hydrolytically stable analogues of β-d-arabinofuranosyl-1-monophosphoryldecaprenol, the donor substrate for mycobacterial arabinosyltransferase, have been prepared. Biological evaluation of these compounds in vitro against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H₃₇Rv strain revealed a promising activity.     

Triangulations and moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces with group actions

Summary We study that subset of the moduli space of stable genusg,g>1, Riemann surfaces which consists of such stable Riemann surfaces on which a given finite groupF acts. We show first that this subset is compact. It turns out that, for general finite groupsF, the above subset is not connected. We show, however, that for ℤ₂ actions this subsetis connected. Finally, we show that even in the moduli space ofsmooth genusg Riemann surfaces, the subset of those Riemann surfaces on which ℤ₂ actsis connected. In view of deliberations of Klein ([8]), this was somewhat surprising. These results are based on new coordinates for moduli spaces. These coordinates are obtained by certainregular triangulations of Riemann surfaces. These triangulations play an important role also elsewhere, for instance in approximating eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator numerically. Determination of the pyrites content of bauxites by thermal methods

A derivatographic method has been developed for the identification and determination of the pyrites content of bauxites and clay minerals. If the sample contains at least 0.2% of pyrite, then at 400–450° a weight increase is indicated on the DTG curve, while a heat liberation is shown on the DTA curve. The amplitude of or the area under, these maxima is proportional to the pyrites content of the sample, although the correlation is not linear. In addition, the effect of experimental conditions on the thermal decomposition of pyrites has been studied.

A new synthesis of β-enaminoesters, β-enaminothioesters et β-enaminoamides by thermic decomposition of β-enaminodiesters is described.     

Recovery and recrystallization in AISI 321 steel under static conditions

Static softening of AISI 321 steel after cold and hot deformation characterizing the industrial thermomechanical treatment was studied by means of tensile tests and TEM. The deformation temperature, the strain and the grain size were the main parameters determining the final softening. The results can be applied for optimization of the solution annealing.     

Syntheses and structures of structurally diverse potassium beta-diketiminates derived from the ligand [(N(SiMe3)C(Ph))2CH

The compounds [K((mu-N(SiMe3)C(Ph))2CH)(thf)2]infinity 1, [K(mu-N(SiMe3)C(Ph)C(H)C(Ph)NH)L]2 [L = (thf)2 2, tmen 3], [K(mu-NSi(Me)2C(Ph)C(H)C(Ph)N)(thf)3]2 4 and [K(N(H)C(Ph))2CH](thf)0.5 5 have been prepared from K[(N(SiMe3)C(Ph))2CH] and the X-ray structures of 1-4 are reported.     

Thermal behaviourof complexes of antipyrine derivatives Part III.

The thermal behaviour of the mixed-ligand complexes of cobalt(II) and copper(I) ions with antipyrine derivatives of 1,2-ethanediamine or piperazine (BAMP and TAMEN), with water and with 2-mercapto-benzothiazole (Hmbt) was investigated. The complexes contain 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (Hmbt, in the case of cobalt(II) ion) or dimercaptobenzothiazine (mbt–mbt, in the case of copper(I) ion) molecules as ligands and perchlorate (ClO₄^–) or thiocyanate (SCN – ) ion as counterion. By heating, water and ligands release the solid phase at lower temperature. At higher temperatures process of different organic reactions of ligands (e.g. polymerization, polycondensation) could be suggested to interpret the relative high final mass values.     

Nucleocyclitols. Synthesis of substituted purinyl-muco-inositol derivatives

Several carbocyclic nucleoside analogs possessing a 6-substituted purine linked to a mesylated muco-inositol were synthesized. The coupling of triethylamine-activated 6-chloropurine with 2,3-anhydro-l,5,6-tri-O-(methanesulfonyl)-epi-inositol gave a 6-chloro purinyl muco-inositol amenable to further synthetic transformations in the heterocyclic moiety by substitution of the chlorine atom by nitrogen nucleophiles such as methylamino, diethylamino, benzylamino, hydrazino, morpholino, hydroxylamino, piperidino, and glycyl groups.
