The deformation of liquid-crystalline spherulites of poly(γ-benzyl-L -glutamate) (PBLG) in an electric field was investigated by light scattering, polarized-light microscopy, and birefringence measurements. Under the polarizing microscope, the deformation was found to be dependent upon the field strength. The spherulites deformed perpendicular to the field. Above 75 V/cm in N,N-dimethylformamide or 120 V/cm in 1,1,2-trichloroethane, the deformed spherulites were transformed to rodlike textures. With increasing voltage, the rods gradually oriented parallel to the electric field. On the basis of the experimental results, models for affine deformation are proposed. With these models, light-scattering patterns are calculated. The calculated and experimental patterns agree semiquantitatively. 相似文献

Photoluminescence (PL) from purified (>90%) double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNTs), which have been synthesized by zeolite catalyst-supported chemical vapor deposition (zeolite-CCVD), of very small diameters (0.8-nm average inner tube) is reported. The PL contour mappings for various ratios (1-90%) of double- versus single-wall carbon nanotubes by thermal oxidation have enabled us to unambiguously identify the chirality of inner tubes for the DWNTs synthesized. After the extensive high-temperature oxidation at 700 degrees C, high-purity (>90%) DWNTs of approximately 0.8 nm inner diameter are obtained, and most of these correspond to the DWNTs having inner tubes with chiralities of (7,5), (7,6), and (9,4). 相似文献

Stationary points of paths for H atom abstraction from CH(3)NHNH(2) (monomethylhydrazine) by NO(2) were characterized via CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df,2p)//MPWB1K/6-31+G(d,p) and CCSD(T)/6-311+G(2df,p)//CCSD/6-31+G(d,p) calculations. Five transition states connecting CH(3)NHNH(2)-NO(2) complexes to a manifold that includes CH(3)NHNH-HONO, CH(3)NNH(2)-HONO, CH(3)NNH(2)-HNO(2), and CH(3)NHNH-HNO(2) complexes were identified. Transition states that connect CH(3)NHNH-HONO, CH(3)NNH(2)-HONO, CH(3)NNH(2)-HNO(2), and CH(3)NHNH-HNO(2) complexes to each other via H atom exchange and/or hindered internal rotation were also identified. The high point in the minimum energy path from the CH(3)NHNH(2) + NO(2) reactant asymptote to the manifold of HONO-containing product states is a transition state 8.6 kcal/mol above the reactant asymptote. From a kinetics standpoint, this value is considerably higher than the 5.9 kcal/mol value that was estimated for it based on theoretical results for H atom abstraction from NH(3) by NO(2). 相似文献

A rotationally resolved ultrahigh-resolution fluorescence excitation spectrum of the S1 ← S0 transition of perylene has been observed using a collimated supersonic jet technique in conjunction with a single-mode UV laser. We assigned 1568 rotational lines of the band, and accurately determined the rotational constants. The obtained value of inertial defect was positive, accordingly, the perylene molecule is considered to be planar with D2h symmetry. We determined the geometrical structure in the S0 state by ab initio theoretical calculation at the RHF/6-311+G(d,p) level, which yielded rotational constant values approximately identical to those obtained experimentally. Zeeman broadening of each rotational line with the external magnetic field was negligibly small, and the mixing with the triplet state was shown to be very small. This evidence indicates that intersystem crossing (ISC) in the S11B2u state is very slow. The rate of internal conversion (IC) is also inferred to be small because the fluorescence quantum yield is high. The rotational constants of the S11B2u state were very similar to those of the S01Ag state. The slow internal conversion (IC) at the S1 zero-vibrational level is attributed to a small structural change upon electronic transition. 相似文献

The crosscap number of a knot in the 3-sphere is defined as the minimal first Betti number of non-orientable surfaces bounded by the knot. In this paper, we determine the crosscap numbers of a large class of pretzel knots. In projection-type integral imaging, positional errors in elemental images and elemental lenses affect three-dimensional (3D) image quality. We analyzed the relationships between the geometric distortion in elemental images caused by a projection lens and the spatial distortion in the reconstructed 3D image. As a result, we clarified that 3D images that were reconstructed far from the lens array were largely affected, and that the reconstructed images were significantly distorted in the depth direction at the corners of the displayed images. 相似文献
