The effect of phosphate buffer solutions on uniconazole complexation with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin and methyl-β-cyclodextrin

The inclusion complexes of uniconazole [(E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-lyl)-1-penten-3-ol, UCZ] with two cyclodextrin derivatives, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) and methylated-β-cyclodextrin (Me-β-CD), were prepared and characterized by ¹H NMR and FT-IR. The phase solubility of UCZ and HP-β-CD, UCZ and Me-β-CD, which displays the ability of CDs complexation and solubilization, was studied in aqueous solutions and phosphate buffer solutions (PBS) with different property pH values (6.2, 7.2, 8.0). The solubility results indicated that the pH of PBS showed more enhancement on the interaction of HP-β-CD and UCZ than Me-β-CD with the increasing pH value, and the optimal pH value for complexation of UCZ and HP-β-CD, UCZ and Me-β-CD was at 8.0 and at 7.2, respectively. These were also determined by UCZ release behavior and dissolution studies of the complexes in solid state.     

Improving nonlinearity tolerance of 112-Gb/s PDM OFDM systems with coherent detection using BLAST algorithm

A novel long wavelength photodetector with dual-wavelength spectral response is designed and fabricated using a step-shaped Fabry-Prot (F-P) filter structure.The step-shaped GaAs/AlGaAs distributed Bragg reflectors and the InP PIN photodetector are grown on a GaAs substrate using low pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition.High quality GaAs/InP heteroepitaxy is realized by employing a thin low temperature buffer layer.The photodetector structure is optimized by theoretical simulation.This device has a dual-peak distance of 19 nm (1 558 and 1 577 nm).The 3-dB bandwidth of 16 GHz is simultaneously obtained with peak quantum efficiencies of 8.5% and 8.6% around 1 558 and 1 577 nm,respectively.     

Synthesis and antitumor and antibacterial evaluation of fluoroquinolone derivatives(Ⅲ):Mono- and bis-Schiff-bases

To further explore an efficient modified route for the shift from an antibacterial fluoroquinolone to an antitumor one,mono-Schiff bases 6a-6h related to ciprofloxacin C3 carbonylhydrazone and bis-Schiff bases 4a-4h corresponding to C3/C7 carbonylhydrazone/hydrazone attached on a skeleton of ciprofloquinolone were designed and synthesized,and their in vitro antitumor activity against CHO,HL60,L1210 cells and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were also reported.     

Dark lump excitations in superfluid Fermi gases

We study the linear and nonlinear properties of two-dimensional matter-wave pulses in disk-shaped superfluid Fermi gases.A Kadomtsev-Petviashvili I(KPI) solitary wave has been realized for superfluid Fermi gases in the limited cases of Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer(BCS) regime,Bose-Einstein condensate(BEC) regime,and unitarity regime.Onelump solution as well as one-line soliton solutions for the KPI equation are obtained,and two-line soliton solutions with the same amplitude are also studied in the limited cases.The dependence of the lump propagating velocity and the sound speed of two-dimensional superfluid Fermi gases on the interaction parameter are investigated for the limited cases of BEC and unitarity.     

Two new terpenes from Tripterygium wilfordii

<正>Two new terpenes,wilfornine H(1) and triptobenzene Q(2) were isolated from Tripterygium wilfordii,as well as 11 terpenes. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.Compounds 5,9-13 showed significant immunosuppressive activities.     

Reduced field-of-view diffusion-weighted imaging of the brain at 7 T

Ventral and rostral regions of the brain are of emerging importance for the MRI characterization of early dementia, traumatic brain injury and epilepsy. Unfortunately, standard single-shot echo planar diffusion-weighted imaging of these regions at high fields is contaminated by severe imaging artifacts in the vicinity of air–tissue interfaces. To mitigate these artifacts and improve visualization of the temporal and frontal lobes at 7 T, we applied a reduced field-of-view strategy, enabled by outer volume suppression (OVS) with novel quadratic phase radiofrequency (RF) pulses, combined with partial Fourier and parallel imaging methods. The new acquisition greatly reduced the level of artifacts in six human subjects (including four patients with early symptoms of dementia).     

Three coordination polymers of 5-aminoisophthalic acid with similar benzimidazole derivative ligands: synthesis,structure and DNA-binding studies

Three novel coordination polymers, [Co(NH₂-Aip)(H₂Bibim)] _n (1), [Co(NH₂-Aip)(HBibimop)] _n  √ nH₂O (2) and [Mn(NH₂-Aip) √ H₂O] _n  √ 2nH₂O (3) with NH₂-Aip and similar benzimidazole derivative ligands (NH₂-Aip = 5-aminoisophthalic acid, H₂Bibim = 2,2′-bibenzimidazole and HBibimop = 1,3-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-oxapropane), have been synthesised under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. 5-Aminoisophthalic acid ligand adopts μ₂-, μ₃- and μ₄-bridge coordination fashion and benzimidazole derivatives exist as terminal- and bridge-mode in complexes 1–3. The intricate hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions in supramolecular framework are discussed. Using the combination of ultraviolet–visible absorption titration and fluorescence spectra, the experimental results show that complexes 1 and 2 bind to DNA in an intercalative mode and their DNA-binding constants (K _b ) are also found.
