Role of metal ions in development of specific properties of polymer metal complexes

The character of changing the hydrodynamic and conformational characteristics of vinylpyrrolidone copolymers with acrylic acid depending on solvent nature was studied. Peculiarities in changing the hydrodynamic, molecular characteristics and complex forming properties of equimolar vinylpyrrolidone copolymer with metal ions are revealed. Metal ions introduction in copolymer macromolecules gives rise to polymer-specific, physiologically active properties.     

Application of Coherent States to Anharmonic,Time-Dependent and Damped Oscillator Systems

The present review deals with coherent states, its application to various problems in physics, chemistry and biology and its important applications to anharmonic, time-dependent and damped oscillator systems. It is seen that use of these states overcomes certain theoretical difficulties.     

Thermoluminescence studies of Al2O3 crystals doped with Cobalt impurity

Thermoluminescence (TL) studies of cobalt-doped Al₂O₃ crystals irradiated with X-rays have shown that the TL glow curve consists of three peaks at 105, 195 and 260°C. Bleaching, annealing and quanching studies have been performed in order to understand the nature of colour centers responsible for the formation of the three peaks. The values of the fundamental parameters like trap depth and frequency factor are estimated from TL data and the results obtained are discussed.     

High-temperature X-ray irradiation induced thermoluminescence and half-life calculations in NaYF4 polycrystalline samples

Elevated irradiation temperature studies with NaYF₄ samples reveal that the intensity of the two glow peaks observed around 120 and 180°C enhances. The effect of temperature of irradiation (T_irr) on the sensitisation of the both peaks are studied. The half lives of these glow peaks were calculated and concluded that the half lives of these peaks decreases with the increase in irradiation temperatures.     

Nonlinear transport in p-type SiGe quantum well structure containing Ge quantum dots

We use magneto-transport spectroscopy to study a dramatic instability between a low and high conductivity mode in Si/SiGe-based resonant tunneling diodes with an embedded layer of self-assembled Ge hut cluster quantum dots in the Si barrier. In the low current regime a simple activation-type behavior with an astonishingly low activation energy in the order of 0.1 meV is determined. In the high current regime a region of negative differential conduction can be observed. We discuss the influence of different layer structures and magnetic fields.     

Bistability between different localized structures in nonlinear optics

We report the observation of different localized structures coexisting for the same parameter values in an extended system. The experimental findings are carried out in a nonlinear optical interferometer and are fully confirmed by numerical simulations. The existence of each kind of localized structure is put in relation to a corresponding delocalized pattern observed. A quantitative evaluation of the range of pump parameter allowing bistability between localized structures is given. The phenomenon reported results to be robust in parameter space.     

Noncollinear magnetic order in quasicrystals

Based on Monte Carlo simulations, the stable magnetization configurations of an antiferromagnet on a quasiperiodic tiling are derived theoretically. The exchange coupling is assumed to decrease exponentially with the distance between magnetic moments. It is demonstrated that the superposition of geometric frustration with the quasiperiodic ordering leads to a three-dimensional noncollinear antiferromagnetic spin structure. The structure can be divided into several ordered interpenetrating magnetic supertilings of different energy and characteristic wave vector. The number and the symmetry of subtilings depend on the quasiperiodic ordering of atoms.
