Orderings of Witzel–Zaremsky–Thompson groups

We prove the orderability of the Witzel-Zaremsky-Thompson group for a direct system of orderable groups under a certain compatibility assumption.     

Rhodium‐Catalyzed Enantioselective Arylation of Aliphatic Imines

Chiral rhodium(I)‐catalyzed highly enantioselective arylation of aliphatic N‐sulfonyl aldimines with arylboronic acids has been developed. This transformation is achieved by the use of a rhodium/bis(phosphoramidite) catalyst to give enantiomerically enriched α‐branched amines (up to 99 % ee). In addition, this system enables efficient synthesis of (+)‐NPS R‐568 and Cinacalcet which are calcimimetic agents.     

Feruloyl,caffeoyl, and flavonol glucosides from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Equisetum hyemale</Emphasis>

Feruloyl, caffeoyl, and flavonol glucosides were isolated from the stems of Equisetum hyemale L. The structures of the compounds were elucidated as trans-feruloyl-4-β-glucoside (1), cis-feruloyl-4-β-glucoside (2), trans-caffeoyl-3-β-glucoside (3), kaempferol-3-sophoroside (4), kaempferol-3-sophoroside-7-β-glucoside (5), and herbacetin-3-sophoroside-8-β-glucoside (6) based on the spectral evidence.     

A near-infrared fluorescent calcium probe: a new tool for intracellular multicolour Ca2+ imaging

We report a novel near-infrared fluorescent calcium probe (KFCA), which has good optical properties such as intense NIR fluorescence emission (670 nm, QY: 0.24), excellent ON/OFF ratio (120-fold), and good wavelength-compatibility with visible-light-emissive fluorophores (Fluo-4, DsRed2), and which is applicable for real-time dual-colour intracellular Ca(2+) imaging.     

Diffractive-Refractive Achromatic Lens for Optical Disk System by Glass Molding

An erasable optical disk system requires an objective lens having minimum chromatic aberration. We estimated the chromatic aberration of a conventional refractive singlet. At shorter wavelengths, the focus shift of an objective lens exceeds its depth of focus. A diffractive-refractive hybrid lens can compensate chromatic aberration perfectly. Diffraction efficiency, however, decreases with the degree of compensation. We simulated the relationship between chromatic aberration and diffraction efficiency. Fabrication of designed lenses by glass molding was achieved, and the results showed excellent agreement with the simulation.     

Functional microporous materials of metal carboxylate: Gas-occlusion properties and catalytic activities

Copper(II) terephthalate is the first transition metal complex found capable of adsorbing gases. This complex has opened the new field of adsorbent complex chemistry. It is recognized as the lead complex in the construction of microporous complexes. This specific system has been expanded to a systematic series of derivatives of other isomorphous transition metals, molybdenum(II), ruthenium(II, III), and rhodium(II). These complexes with open frameworks are widely recognized as very useful materials for applications to catalysis, separation at molecular level, and gas storage.
