γ−γ energy correlations in 167,168Hf observed with two compton-suppression spectrometers

The γ?γ energy correlation matrix obtained from ¹⁵⁹Tb(¹⁴N,xn)reactions at 95 MeV exhibits a low-intensity central valley with smoothly decreasing width when the rotational frequency increases, indicating an increasing collective moment of inertia. Enhanced intensities in valley at $\text{h}\text{?}\text{ω = 0.42}$ and 0.52 MeV are observed for the first time in the HF isotopes and are interpreted as due to band crossings which may involve i${}_{\mathrm{<mtext>13</mtext><mtext>2</mtext><mtext>,f</mtext><mtext>7</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ neutron and $\text{h}\text{11}\text{2}$ proton or higher orbital.     

Synthesis of (Aza)n[3n]cyclophanes as host molecules

(Aza)_n[3ⁿ]cyclophanes were synthesized by the coupling reaction of p-toluenesulfonamide and bis(halomethyl) derivatives in the presence of a base (K₂CO₃, NaH etc.) using DMF, dioxane etc. as a solvent, in acceptable yields. Tetraaza macrocyclic compound (the dimer in Fig. 1) obtained by the coupling of 2,11-diaza[3.3]metacyclophane with 1,3-bis(bromomethyl)benzene gavea 1:1 adduct with benzene.Presented partly at the 42nd Autumn Annual Meeting of the Chemical Society of Japan, Sendai, September, 1980; Abstr. Hyperscaling Inequalities for the Contact Process and Oriented Percolation

The contact process and oriented percolation are expected to exhibit the same critical behavior in any dimension. Above their upper critical dimension d _c, they exhibit the same critical behavior as the branching process. Assuming existence of the critical exponents, we prove a pair of hyperscaling inequalities which, together with the results of refs. 16 and 18, implies d _c=4.     

Simple and sensitive determination of plasma N tau-methylhistidine by high-performance liquid chromatography using pre-column derivative formation with o-phthalaldehyde-2-mercaptoethanol

A simple, rapid and sensitive assay method for plasma N tau-methylhistidine by isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography has been developed. The deproteinized plasma was treated with o-phthalaldehyde-2-mercaptoethanol. The derivatives were separated on a LiChrospher 100 RP-18 column within 10 min. The detection limit for N tau-methylhistidine was 0.5 pmol. The plasma N tau-methylhistidine content of beef cattle and dairy cows was 0.038 +/- 0.004 and 0.017 +/- 0.002 nmol/ml/kg, respectively.     

A mild method for the conversion of proipiolic esters to β-keto esters. application to the formal total synthesis of (±)-thienamycin

An extremely mild method for the transformation of propiolic esters to β-keto esters via thiol addition is reported, including its successful application to the synthesis of (±)-thienamycin.
