We report on structural characterization of void-structures created by a micro-explosion at the locus of a tightly focused femtosecond laser pulse inside the crystalline phase of Al2O3 (R3c space group). The transmission electron microscopy (TEM), micro-X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and Raman scattering revealed a presence of strongly structurally modified amorphous regions around the void-structures. We discuss issues of achieving the required resolution for structural characterization and assignment of newly formed phases of nano-crystallites by TEM, XRD, and Raman scattering from micro-volumes of modified materials enclosed inside the bulk of the host phase. 相似文献

A terahertz (THz) photomixer: (i) a meander type antenna with integrated nanoelectrodes on (ii) a low temperature grown GaAs has been fabricated and characterized. It was designed for spectral range of 0.3–0.4 THz where molecular fingerprinting and sensing are performed. By combination of electron beam lithography with post-processing using focused ion beam (FIB), milling the THz emitter was successfully fabricated. Nanogaps as small as 40 nm width in the active area of photomixer were milled by FIB. Nanocontacts enhance electric fields of the illuminated and THz radiation and contribute to a better collection of photo-electrons. THz emission was obtained and spectrally characterized. 相似文献

Possibilities to increase the sensitivity of stripping analysis by optimising the hydrodynamic conditions of the solution during the deposition and rest period are evaluated. Rotation rates as high as 13 000 rpm can be applied during the deposition step at a mercury film rotating disc electrode for Zn, Cd, Pb, In and Tl determinations when 10-20 mg/l of Hg(2+) for the renewal of the mercury film is added. Because of the extreme sensitivity on the properties of the mercury film in the case of Ga only 4000-5000 rpm are recommended. The highest stirring efficiencies using a magnetic stirrer are equivalent to 2500-3000 rpm when a rotating disc electrode is used. The effect of the duration of the rest period is not significant for square wave stripping voltammetry, however, analytical signals can be increased 10 and more times when potentiometric stripping analysis is applied. 相似文献

Pump-probe and pump-dump probe experiments have been performed on several isolated model chromophores of the photoactive yellow protein (PYP). The observed transient absorption spectra are discussed in terms of the spectral signatures ascribed to solvation, excited-state twisting, and vibrational relaxation. It is observed that the protonation state has a profound effect on the excited-state lifetime of p-coumaric acid. Pigments with ester groups on the coumaryl tail end and charged phenolic moieties show dynamics that are significantly different from those of other pigments. Here, an unrelaxed ground-state intermediate could be observed in pump-probe signals. A similar intermediate could be identified in the sinapinic acid and in isomerization-locked chromophores by means of pump-dump probe spectroscopy; however, in these compounds it is less pronounced and could be due to ground-state solvation and/or vibrational relaxation. Because of strong protonation-state dependencies and the effect of electron donor groups, it is argued that charge redistribution upon excitation determines the twisting reaction pathway, possibly through interaction with the environment. It is suggested that the same pathway may be responsible for the initiation of the photocycle in native PYP. 相似文献

A novel setup for lifetime microscopy measurements was designed and applied for carrier lifetime mapping in a bulk GaN. Photoexcitation by a picosecond UV pump and detection of time‐resolved free carrier absorption (FCA) images on a CCD camera enabled the mapping of carrier lifetime distribution with a spatial resolution of 5 μm. The spatial variation of lifetime in the bulk HVPE‐grown GaN revealed the presence of different‐size crystalline grains, with lifetime peaking up to 70 ns in the centers of the largest grains (~20 μm in diameter) and dropping to 10 ns in the small ones, while the spatially averaged lifetime was 40 ns. The inhomogeneity was ascribed to the interplay of nonradiative diffusion‐limited recombination at grain boundaries and a bulk lifetime in the crystallite centers. The numerical solution of spatially‐resolved carrier decay rate in the crystallite centers at high injection levels and comparison with experimental data provided a bulk nonradiative recombination time of ~70 ns. Dispersed multipump-probe (PPP) spectroscopy was used to explore the role of saturation, annihilation, and structured pulses in recent coherent control experiments on the light-harvesting 2 complex from Rhodopseudomonas acidophila (Herek et al. Nature 2002, 417, 533). We discuss the complimentary aspects between the PPP technique and coherent control studies, in particular the ability to dissect complicated pulse structures and the utility in exploring incoherent mechanisms. With the aid of a simple multistate model involving only population dynamics, we illustrate how the optimized structured pulses may be explained in terms of an interplay between excited-state populations, saturation, and annihilation. Furthermore, we discuss the experimental conditions that are required for incoherent effects to contribute to control experimental signals, with particular emphasis on pulse intensities, and show that the optimization of a ratio of conservative signals (i.e., not modulated by external dynamics) is required to exclude saturation effects from coherent control studies. 相似文献
