We consider the effect of a magnetic field on the spin—Peierls transition within mean-field theory. Using a mathematical analogy to the regular Peierls transition and existing results, we derive formulas for the magnetic field dependence of the transition temperature and of the distortion periodicity.  相似文献

Fast neutron capture γ-ray spectra in 45Sc and 139La exhibit anomalous intensities for transitions to low-lying states with large neutron angular momenta. As statistical and valence models cannot adequately explain the observed spectra, a 2p-1h capture mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

We study the persistence probability P(t) that, starting from a random initial condition, the magnetization of a d'-dimensional manifold of a d-dimensional spin system at its critical point does not change sign up to time t. For d'>0 we find three distinct late-time decay forms for P(t): exponential, stretched exponential, and power law, depending on a single parameter zeta=(D-2+eta)/z, where D=d-d' and eta,z are standard critical exponents. In particular, we predict that for a line magnetization in the critical d=2 Ising model, P(t) decays as a power law while, for d=3, P(t) decays as a power of t for a plane magnetization but as a stretched exponential for a line magnetization. Numerical results are consistent with these predictions.  相似文献

A low temperature scanning force microscope (SFM) operating in a dynamic mode in ultrahigh vacuum was used to study the Si(111)- (7x7) surface at 7.2 K. Not only the twelve adatoms but also the six rest atoms of the unit cell are clearly resolved for the first time with SFM. In addition, the first measurements of the short range chemical bonding forces above specific atomic sites are presented. The data are in good agreement with first principles computations and indicate that the nearest atoms in the tip and sample relax significantly when the tip is within a few A of the surface.  相似文献

A method using a sulfur chemiluminescence detector (SCD) has been developed for the qualitative and quantitative determination of sulfur components in stabilized gasoline-range process streams, including blended gasolines containing between 1 and > 4000 ppm total sulfur. The detection limit per sulfur component was approximately 50 ppb. On-column injection was employed for optimum precision and accuracy. A new probe material was found which did not soften under FID operating conditions. A new method, using a hydrogen sulfide permeation tube, was developed for rapid alignment of the probe in the FID.  相似文献

The Fourier inversion formula in polar form is \(f(x) = \int_0^\infty {P_\lambda } f(x)d\lambda \) for suitable functionsf on ? n , whereP λ f(x) is given by convolution off with a multiple of the usual spherical function associated with the Euclidean motion group. In this form, Fourier inversion is essentially a statement of the spectral theorem for the Laplacian and the key question is: how are the properties off andP λ f related? This paper provides a Paley-Wiener theorem within this avenue of thought generalizing a result due to Strichartz and provides a spectral reformulation of a Paley-Wiener theorem for the Fourier transform due to Helgason. As an application we prove support theorems for certain functions of the Laplacian.  相似文献
