Observation of eta'c production in gammagamma fusion at CLEO

We report on the observation of the eta(')(c)(2(1)S0), the radial excitation of the eta(c)(1(1)S0) ground state of charmonium, in the two-photon fusion reaction gammagamma-->eta(')(c)-->K(0)(S)K+/-pi(-/+) in 13.6 fb(-1) of CLEO II/II.V data and 13.1 fb(-1) of CLEO III data. We obtain M(eta(')(c))=3642.9+/-3.1(stat)+/-1.5(syst) MeV and M(eta(c))=2981.8+/-1.3(stat)+/-1.5(syst) MeV. The corresponding values of hyperfine splittings between 1S0 and 3S1 states are DeltaM(hf)(1S)=115.1+/-2.0 MeV and DeltaM(hf)(2S)=43.1+/-3.4 MeV. Assuming that the eta(c) and eta(')(c) have equal branching fractions to K(S)Kpi, we obtain Gamma(gammagamma)(eta(')(c))=1.3+/-0.6 keV.     

Beam-polarization asymmetries for the p(gamma-->, K+)Lambda and p(gamma-->, K+)Sigma(0) reactions for E(gamma)=1.5-2.4 GeV

Beam polarization asymmetries for the p(gamma-->,K+)Lambda and p(gamma-->,K+)Sigma(0) reactions are measured for the first time for E(gamma)=1.5-2.4 GeV and 0.6相似文献   

First search for the flavor changing neutral current decay D0-->gammagamma

Using 13.8 fb(-1) of data collected at or just below the Upsilon(4S) with the CLEO detector, we report the result of a search for the flavor changing neutral current process D0-->gammagamma. We observe no significant signal for this decay mode and determine 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions B(D0-->gammagamma)/B(D0-->pi(0)pi(0))<0.033 and B(D0-->gammagamma)<2.9 x 10(-5).     

Solid state hydrolysis/polycondensation of alkoxysilane: access to crystal-like silicon-based hybrid materials

Transformation of a crystallized molecular solid to a periodically organized covalent extended solid was obtained by a solvent-free process of an organosilane. Hydrolysis and further polycondensation occur in the solid state; in addition this route leads to crystal-like silicon-based hybrid materials with a higher periodicity than material prepared by sol-gel process.     

Dynamical Auger emission induced by multistate vibronic coupling in the core-excited states of the BCl3 molecule

The Auger emission following the resonant excitation of the BCl3 molecule has been investigated using monochromatized synchrotron radiation. The B 1s excitation to the unoccupied Anti-bonding 4e(') orbital enhances the shoulder structure in the low kinetic energy side of the photoemission from the 2e(') valence bonding orbital. Based on a series of quantum mechanical calculations, this shoulder structure is interpreted as the dynamical Auger emission which reflects the B-Cl stretching nuclear motion and appears as a result of the purely multistate vibronic coupling effect among the Jahn-Teller split B 1s(-1)4e(') E' states and the closely lying B 1s(-1)3a(')(1) A'1 state.     

Effect of refraction index and thickness of the light guide in the position-sensitive gamma-ray detector using compact PS-PMTs

We constructed a position-sensitive gamma-ray detector consisting of an array of BGO scintillators, a light guide and compact PS-PMTs. The effects of refractive index and thickness of the light guide of a glass plate on the detector performance were investigated. A light guide with higher refractive index and smaller thickness is found better for a good spatial resolution.     

Proper composition for superconductivity in Pb(Ba, Sr)2(Y, Ca)Cu3O7

Superconductivity and composition analysis of PbBaSr(Y, Ca)Cu₃O_y with fixed ratio of Sr/Ba = 1 were studied. Synthesis condition and superconductivity of Pb(Ba, Sr)₂(Y, Ca)Cu₃O_y with various ratio of Sr/Ba and Ca/Y were also studied. It was found that T_c increased with increasing Ca concentration, and that Sr-rich specimens allowed to contain more Ca. PbBa_0.8Sr_1.2Y_0.6Ca_0.4Cu₃O₇ showed superconductivity with zero-resistance temperature of 42 K, which was higher than PbBaSrY_0.7Ca_0.3Cu₃O₇ with maximum Ca content for Sr/Ba = 1. Decrease in averaged ionic radii of Ba and Sr in Sr-rich compositions would be favorable for the contraction of Cu-O bonds by hole-doping via Ca substitution for Y.
