We study the structural properties of the surface roughness, the surface mound size and the interfacial structure in Ni thin films vacuum-deposited on polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) organic substrates with and without the application of magnetic field and discuss its feasibility of fabricating quantum cross (QC) devices. For Ni/PEN evaporated without the magnetic field, the surface roughness decreases from 1.3 nm to 0.69 nm and the surface mound size increases from 32 nm to 80 nm with the thickness increased to 41 nm. In contrast, for Ni/PEN evaporated in the magnetic field of 360 Oe, the surface roughness tends to slightly decrease from 1.3 nm to 1.1 nm and the surface mound size shows the almost constant value of 28-30 nm with the thickness increased to 35 nm. It can be also confirmed for each sample that there is no diffusion of Ni into the PEN layer, resulting in clear Ni/PEN interface and smooth Ni surface. Therefore, these experimental results indicate that Ni/PEN films can be expected as metal/insulator hybrid materials in QC devices, leading to novel high-density memory devices. 相似文献

Amplitude modulation of gyrotron by a small modulation of the anode voltage is calculated using an energy transfer formula.
Experimental measurements using a submillimeter wave gyrotron are in good agreement. One hundred percent modulation of the
output at frequencies up to several hundred kilohertz has been achieved with anode modulation levels of only a few percent.

The present status of heavy element nuclear chemistry research at JAERI (Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute) is reviewed. Production of the transactinide nuclei 261Rf and 262Db via the reactions of 248Cm(18O,5n) and 248Cm(19F, 5n), respectively, at the JAERI tandem accelerator is reported. Study of the aqueous chemistry of Rf is being carried out with a newly developed rapid ion-exchange separation apparatus. Anion-exchange behavior of Rf in acidic solution is briefly discussed. Recent experimental results on decay studies of neutron-deficient actinide nuclei using the gas-jet coupled JAERI-ISOL are given. We also discuss characteristics of nuclear deformation properties at scission in symmetric and asymmetric fission of actinides. Prospects for studies in the near future are briefly considered. 相似文献

This paper discusses the straight-through type labyrinth seal. This labyrinth seal is used for axial flow fans, which h ave
an outer ring at the blade tip to seal the clearance between the ring tip and the fan shroud, in order to prevent the reverse
flow or leakage. These fans are used for the cooling of automobile radiators . In these cases, the labyrinth seal is used
in an extremely low static pressure difference and a large clearance . A significant decrease of the leakage rate was reported
even when the labyrinth seal rotated in comparatively low speed in this unique condition according to the authors’ former
report. However, this phenomen on is differ ent from past research. Further more the cause of th is phenomenon has not been
determined. Therefore, the internal flow was depicted with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in or der to clarify the ca
use of this phenomenon. The results of CFD show that the leakage rate decreases significantly because the carry -over flow
is intercepted in the expansion groove. This is the newly discovered phenomenon which occurs under the unique condition of
an extremely low differential pressure. It has not been pointed out before as the reason why the rotation decreases the leakage

The influence of cell density of cells cryopreserved inside a collagen matrix at various cooling rates was investigated. Human fibroblasts were three-dimensionally cultured for 2 days in a collagen sponge (20 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness) as an extracellular matrix to imitate biological tissue (artificial tissue). Different cell densities for the artificial tissue were used, from 10(5) to 10(7) cells/cm(3). Four artificial tissues were first stacked in a test chamber, frozen at a cooling rate of 0.3 to 50 degrees C/min in a solution of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium, 20% fetal bovine serum and 10% dimethylsulfoxide, kept frozen below -185 degrees C for 2 hours, and then finally thawed. Membrane integrity of fibroblasts using a trypan blue exclusion assay was evaluated as an index for post-thaw cellular viability. Results show that with increasing cell density, the post-thaw membrane integrity decreased. Therefore, in the cryopreservation of biological tissue, it seems high cell density is one factor which causes a decline in viability. 相似文献

The parametric dependence of a quantum map under the influence of a rank-1 perturbation is investigated. While the Floquet operator of the map and its spectrum have a common period with respect to the perturbation strength lambda, we show an example in which none of the quasienergies nor the eigenvectors obey the same period: After a periodic increment of lambda, the quasienergy arrives at the nearest higher one, instead of the initial one, exhibiting an anholonomy, which governs another anholonomy of the eigenvectors. We have developed the mechanically controllable break junction setup with an electrochemical cell (EC-MCBJ) to measure the electric conductance of metal nanowires under electrochemical potential control. The electric conductance of Au nanowires was investigated in 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution using EC-MCBJ. The conductance of the Au nanowires was quantized in units of G0 (=2e2/h), showing clear features in the conductance histogram. The atomic contact with a specific conductance value was kept for >5 s, indicating the relatively high stability of the present EC-MCBJ system. 相似文献

Abstract
Droplets impinging on a hot surface that is near the Leidenfrost temperature were experimentally investigated. Ejection of jets from the top of the droplet was observed during the transient interaction between the droplet and a hot wall. We term this phenomenon jet ejection from droplets. When the bottom of the droplet initially impacts the hot surface, a jet is to be ejected from the top of the droplet. The jet ejection occurred only at low impact velocities and around the wetting limit temperature.
