Electrostatic Potential and Adsorption Characteristics of the Trimethyl‐Silylated Surface of Silica

The distribution of electrostatic potential in the vicinity of the hydroxylated and trimethylsilylated surface of silica was calculated in the semiempirical PM3 approximation. A new mechanism is proposed for the bonding of electron-donating molecules with the surface of hydrophobized silicas.     

Dynamics of electron spin in undulators

The problem on the evolution of electron spin in inhomogeneous magnetic fields of special type is solved on the basis of the classical Bargmann-Michel-Telegdi equation. Cyclocondensation of α-acylacetamidines with esters of 2-fluoro-5-nitrobenzoic and 4-chloro-2-methyl-5-pyrimidinecarboxylic acids

The cyclocondensation of α-acylacetamidines with esters of 2-fluoro-5-nitrobenzoic and 4-chloro-2-methyl-5-pyrimidinecarboxylic acids leads to condensed azines. Effect of plasmochemical treatment of platinum catalyst on dispersity of metal phase and its catalytic activity

We studied how treatment of 0.64 wt % Pt/SiO₂ catalyst with a glow-discharge plasma in O₂ and a high-frequency plasma in H₂ (HF H₂) influences the cyclohexane dehydrogenation reaction. The effect of plasmochemical treatment on the average diameter of platinum particles was established by the method of X-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that oxygen plasma increases the surface area of the metal by ∼15% and diminishes activity by raising the activation energy and reducing the number of active centers per unit surface of the metal. The HF H₂ plasma increases the reaction rate constant many times over, due to the number of active centers per unit surface of the metal rising sharply while the size of the Pt particles remains unchanged.     

TOF-SIMS 5 instrument sensitivity to matrix elements in GeSi Layers: Analysis based on recording of complex secondary ions

Ge _x Si_{1 − x} layers are investigated by means of secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Experimental results obtained with the use of a TOF-SIMS 5 instrument are presented. To surmount the so-called matrix effect, SIMS analysis is performed by using complex secondary ions: Ge₂⁻, CsGe⁺, and Cs₂Ge⁺.
