Closed-shell RHF one-electron properties are calculated for H2S using a total of 41 different s, p basis sets and two polarized basis sets (6–31G* and 6–31G**). Total energies and geometries alone are not a comprehensive criteria for selecting the best basis sets. It is shown here that the comparison of a number of one-electron properties can serve as an excellent criteria for testing basis sets. The quality or reliability of a basis set is taken as being its agreement with a large uncontracted s, p basis set (s, p limit).  相似文献

The synthesis and X-ray structures of three metal complexes with terpyridine-derived ligands that contain amino-pyrimidine and amino-pyrazine moieties are presented. They have been designed in view of directing their self-assembly into specific supramolecular arrays through molecular recognition interactions. The solid-state structures indeed reveal extensive hydrogen-bonded networks. The Co complex 4a with PF6- counterions builds a two-dimensional infinite interwoven grid through strong double hydrogen bonds (d(N-H-N) =2.918-3.018 A) between the amino groups and the N atoms of the rings, with all H-bonding sites saturated. Changing the anions to BF4- in 4b leads to a similar infinite but partially broken grid with a quarter of the H-bonding sites unsaturated (d(N-H-N)=2.984-3.206 A). In the case of the Zn complex 12 with triflate anions, half of the hydrogen bonds are formed. Only one of the two orthogonal ligands has hydrogen bonds (d(N-H-N) = 3.082, 3.096 A) to the neighbouring complexes and thus builds linear, supramolecular, polymeric chains. These structural differences are mainly attributed to crystal-packing effects caused by the different anions. The data presented here may also be regarded as a prototype for the generation of organised arrays through sequential self-assembly processes.  相似文献

Five hundred protein kinases phosphorylate 10 000 proteins in human cells. Frequently, more than one site in a protein is phosphorylated, and often by more than one protein kinase. The mechanistic basis underlying the overlapping specificity of the phospho-proteome is not well understood. We are interested in understanding why ERK2, a proline-directed protein kinase, phosphorylates only a fraction of the (S/T-P) sites found in the surface loops of proteins, at an appreciable rate. To address this fundamental question, we utilized a well-established protein substrate EtsDelta138, which comprises a globular ERK2-recognition domain (pnt domain) and an unstructured peptide-like N-terminal tail. This tail contains T38, the sole ERK2 phosphorylation site. We mutated the TP motif, which is recognized by the active site and found that mutagenesis of the T-38/P-39 motif to TD, TR, TA, TG, and TV has no effect on the stability of the ternary complex but does decrease kcat. We also investigated the effect of perturbing the binding between ERK2 and the pnt domain, which occurs outside the active site, to find that mutation of the pnt domain (F120A) leads to a 10-fold decrease in binding but the kcat remains the same. The data support a mechanism of proximity-mediated catalysis, where the docking of the pnt domain, outside the active site, increases the effective concentration of the TP motif near the active site. The data are consistent with the notion that the interaction between ERK2 and the pnt domain provides uniform binding energy and stabilizes each enzyme intermediate and transition state to an equal extent. While other steps on the reaction pathway contribute towards the specificity of the ERK2 reaction, a docking interaction provides the initial basis for substrate recognition. Those residues within the docked complex, which have the ability to access the active site with an appropriate geometry, can be phosphorylated at an efficient rate if followed by a proline or small hydrophobic amino acid.  相似文献

Electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was used to characterize the complexes formed between open-chain piperazine-containing ligands and transition metal salts (Cobalt, Copper, Zinc, and Cadmium as chlorides, nitrates, and acetates). Only single-charged complexes were observed, formed of one ligand (L) and mainly one metal ion (M). Since the net charge of the complexes was one, a counterion (X) was attached to some of the complexes, with formation of [L + M + X]+ complexes, and a proton was lost from others, as in [L - H + M]+ complexes. In most cases the composition of the complexes was more dependent on the ligand than the metal salt. Collision-induced dissociation measurements showed that complexes with related composition often differed in structure, or that interactions between the ligand and the metal ion were not alike. The metal ion influenced considerably the fragmentation pathways of the ligands, so that the fragmentation products could be used to deduce the binding sites of the metal. The variations observed in fragmentation behavior of complexes possessing the same ligand but different metal ions can mostly be explained by the ionic radius and electronic configuration of the metal ion. The results indicated a preference of the piperazine ring of the coordinated ligand for the boat conformation.  相似文献

The reaction of tetra-p-formyltetra-O-propylcalix[4]arene with phenanthrenequinone in the presence of NH(4)OAc affords compound 2, a new class of calixarene with an expanded aromatic cavity, that could be stabilized by hydrogen-bonded bridges and/or ion pairing, thus preventing collapse into fully stacked pinched cone conformations as depicted. Two partially protonated calixarenes interdigitate in the solid state to give rise to a self-assembled face-to-face dimer, stabilized by pi-pi stacking interactions.  相似文献

The enhancement of the binding between halide anions and a Lewis acidic uranyl–salophen receptor has been achieved by the introduction of pendant electron‐deficient arene units into the receptor skeleton. The association and the occurrence of the elusive anion–π interaction with halide anions (as tetrabutylammonium salts) have been demonstrated in solution and in the solid state, providing unambiguous evidence on the interplay of the concerted interactions responsible for the anion binding.  相似文献
