The phenoxyl radicals of eugenol (EgOH) and isoeugenol (iEgOH) were generated by the specific one‐electron oxidant N3· using pulse radiolysis technique, and were characterized by their absorption spectra, decay and formation kinetics, and one‐electron reduction potential (E71) values. Reactivities of eugenol phenoxyl radical with the biologically important molecule, trolox C (analogue of vitamin E, α‐tocopheral), were determined. Reactions of OH with these phenols were studied at different pHs and suitable mechanisms for these reactions were suggested. A long‐standing controversy concerning the heat of formation of methylenimine has been addressed by means of the W2 (Weizmann‐2) thermochemical approach. Our best calculated values, ΔH°f,298(CH2NH) = 21.1±0.5 kcal/mol and ΔH°f,298(CH2NH2+) = 179.4±0.5 kcal/mol, are in good agreement with the most recent measurements but carry a much smaller uncertainty. As a byproduct, we obtain the first‐ever accurate anharmonic force field for methylenimine: upon consideration of the appropriate resonances, the experimental gas‐phase band origins are all reproduced to better than 10 cm?1. Consideration of the difference between a fully anharmonic zero‐point vibrational energy and B3LYP/cc‐pVTZ harmonic frequencies scaled by 0.985 suggests that the calculation of anharmonic zero‐point vibrational energies can generally be dispensed with, even in benchmark work, for rigid molecules. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Eco-friendly all cellulose composites were developed using cellulose as matrix and nanocomposite (in situ generated copper nanoparticles modified Napier Grass Fibers (NGFs)) as fillers for the antibacterial applications. The content of the nanocomposite filler was increased from 1?wt.% to 5?wt.% in the cellulose matrix. All these composites were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Tensile, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and antibacterial tests. SEM-EDX analysis revealed the in situ generation of copper nanoparticles on the surface of the films. Further, all cellulose composites showed good thermal stability. A minimum of 30% increase in char residue was observed in all cellulose nanocomposites compared to matrix. Antibacterial analysis indicated an excellent clear zone formation against both Gram Negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram Positive (Staphylococcus) bacteria. Hence, all these cellulose nanocomposite films can be considered as antibacterial packaging and dressing materials in medical field.  相似文献

Reaction of one-electron oxidant (Br(2)(*-)) with tryptophol (TP) and 5-hydroxytryptophol (HTP) have been studied in aqueous solution in the pH range from 3 to 10, employing nanosecond pulse radiolysis technique and the transients detected by kinetic spectrophotometry. One-electron oxidation of TP has produced an indolyl radical that absorbs in the 300-600 nm region with radical pK(a) = 4.9 +/- 0.2, while the reaction with HTP has produced an indoloxyl radical with lambda(max) at 420 nm and radical pK(a) < 3. Hydroxyl radicals ((*)OH) react with these two compounds producing (*)OH radical adducts that undergo water elimination to give one-electron-oxidized indolyl and indoloxyl radical species, respectively. The indoloxyl radicals react with the parent compound to form dimer radicals with an average association constant of (6.7 +/- 0.4) x 10(4) M(-1). No such dimerization is observed with indolyl radical, indicating that the presence of the 5-hydroxy group markedly alters its ability to form a dimer. A possible explanation behind such a difference in reactivity has been supported with ab initio quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

Summary The present results confirm conclusively the inference drawn earlier [2] regarding the role of adsorption of zinc ions on the basis of galvanostatic studies on solid substrates which is also the conclusion drawn by Yurev and Volkov [3] by their recent work on solid substrates.
Zusammenfassung Bei galvanostatischen Untersuchungen an festen Medien über die Bedeutung der Adsorption von Zinkionen konnten die Ergebnisse einer früheren eigenen Arbeit [2] sowie der Arbeit von Yurev u. Volkov [3] bestätigt werden. Aufgrund potentiodynamischer und potentiostatischer Versuche mit der Quecksilber-Tropfelektrode konnte festgestellt werden, daß die Abscheidungsgeschwindigkeit von Nickel aus Nickelbädern durch Zusatz von Zinkionen herabgesetzt wird. Die Vorteile einer Quecksilber-Tropfelektrode für solche Untersuchungen werden aufgezeigt und interessante Besonderheiten im Verhalten der Strom-Zeit-Kurve während des Wachstums des Tropfens diskutiert.

The Raman and infrared spectra of N, N-dimethylthioformamide and N, N-dimethylthioacetamide were recorded and the vibrational frequencies are assigned. The normal co-ordinate treatment of these molecules has been carried out and the potential energy distributions calculated in order to clarify the nature of normal vibrations and investigate the magnitude of mixing up of various skeletal frequencies. The results in regard to the nature of the C-N and C=S stretching frequencies in these thioamides are compared with those of primary and secondary thioamides on the one hand and those of the corresponding ordinary tertiary amides on the other. It has been shown that the force constants of the general quadratic force field type are transferable in the series of molecules of tertiary amides and tertiary thioamides. The lowest frequency in the region of 150 cm.?1 to 160 cm.?1 has been recorded by the authors in the Raman spectra of the two tertiary thioamides under consideration. In the normal vibrational analysis of related molecules, the earlier workers only calculated this frequency, but did not record it.  相似文献

The relative intensities of x rays and gammas emitted in the beta decay of194Os are measured. No evidence for the feeding of a level at 83 keV in194Ir is found. An upper limit of 1.7×10?4 was set for theK shell internal ionization probability in the beta decay to the ground state of194Ir. TheL-conversion coefficient of 43 keV transition is found to be 12.1 and the transition is mainly ofM1 type with an admixture of 1.3%E2 type. TheL 1 subshell yields atZ=77 are determined to beω 1=0.16±0.04,f 12=0.11±0.04 andf 13=0.37±0.03.  相似文献
