Waveguided semiconductor optical switches operated by a carrier-induced change in the refractive-index associated with the plasma dispersion are proposed. InGaAsP/InP four-port switches having two intersecting single-mode channel waveguides are fabricated by selective liquid-phase epitaxy and investigated at 1.5m wavelength. The effect of the ratio of fluctuation field (Hf) to coercivity (Hc) on the temperature coefficient of coercivity [α(Hc)] was investigated for Co55Cr15.5Pt28B1.5/Co63Cr37/Cr, Co69Cr19Pt9Ta3/Cr, and Co86Cr10Ta4/Cr thin films (longitudinal recording media) with very small average grain volume (Vphy). α(Hc) increases markedly with increase in temperature between near 250 and 350 K for Co55Cr15.5Pt28B1.5/Co63Cr37/Cr thin films. α(Hc) is approximately proportional to the ratio Hf/Hc for all thin films, as in the case of advanced data backup tapes prepared from ultrafine particles. α(Hc) and the ratio Hf/Hc increase as Vphy decreases. Smaller Hf/Hc values are necessary for small α(Hc) values, which is very important for the thermal stability of high-density recording media with very small Vphy. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of comprehensive exercise program widely accepted as a community-based physical intervention for the prevention of falling in the elderly persons on their controlling standing balance. Twenty-six community-dwelling elderly persons (13 males and females; 69.8 ± 2.8 years old) participated in this study. Daily exercise was comprised of walking for more than 30 min, stretching, muscle strengthening and balance exercise without exercise equipments. The intervention was continued for three months. Indicators of standing balance related to static balance, dynamic balance and postural response were measured before and after the intervention. As an effect of the intervention on static balance, the sway of center of pressure (COP) in the static stance significantly increased. In the dynamic balance, significant improvements were observed in one leg standing time, the 10-m gait time, functional reach. Additionally, the maximal movable length of COP which subjects can move voluntarily to right and left significantly increased. In the postural response, the integrated electromyography (IEMG) induced by postural response for sudden postural perturbation significantly decreased in the lower leg muscles. Since less muscular activities were sufficient to maintain posture, it was suggested that postural response was elicited more efficiently following the intervention. This study suggested that the comprehensive exercise program, which has been widely introduced as community-based interventions for the prevention of falling, have extensive effects on the control of standing balance covering static balance, dynamic balance and postural response in the elderly persons. 相似文献

The adhesion of Cu on Ru substrates with different crystal orientations was evaluated. The crystal orientation of sputter deposited Ru could be changed from (1 0 0) to (0 0 1) by annealing at 650 °C for 20 min. The adhesion of Cu was evaluated by the degree of Cu agglomeration on Ru. Cu films on annealed Ru films with the (0 0 1) crystal orientation showed 28% lower RMS values and 50% lower Ru surface coverage than Cu as-deposited on Ru having the (1 0 0) crystal orientation after annealing at 550 °C for 30 min, which suggest that Cu wettability on the Ru(0 0 1) was better than that on the Ru(1 0 0) plane. The low lattice misfit of 4% between Cu(1 1 1) and Ru(0 0 1) may be the reason for this good adhesion property. 相似文献

Listening difficulty ratings, using words with high word familiarity, are proposed as a new subjective measure for the evaluation of speech transmission in public spaces to provide realistic and objective results. Two listening tests were performed to examine their validity, compared with intelligibility scores. The tests included a reverberant signal and noise as detrimental sounds. The subject was asked to repeat each word and simultaneously to rate the listening difficulty into one of four categories: (1) not difficult, (2) a little difficult, (3) fairly difficult, and (4) extremely difficult. After the tests, the four categories were reclassified into, not difficult [response (1)] and some level of difficulty, (the other 3 responses). Listening difficulty is defined as the percentage of the total number of responses indicating some level of difficulty [i.e. not (1)]. The results of two listening tests demonstrated that listening difficulty ratings can evaluate speech transmission performance more accurately and sensitively than intelligibility scores for sound fields with higher speech transmission performance. 相似文献

Radial breathing modes (RBMs) in resonance Raman spectra from single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) on a SiO2/Si (0 0 1) substrate are studied between 25 and 720 °C. A change in the relative intensity of each RBM peak with temperature is observed, which originates from the temperature dependence of the resonance condition of nanotubes. For 25 °C, each RBM peak is reasonably assigned on the basis of data in the literature [J. Maultzsch, H. Telg, S. Reich, F. Hennrich, C. Thomsen, Phys. Rev. B 72 (2005) 205438]. By taking into account the temperature-dependent behavior of the relative intensity of the RBM peaks, each RBM peak is successfully assigned even for 720 °C. It is found that most of the observed RBM peaks for a laser excitation energy of Eexc = 1.96 eV are from chiral SWCNTs. These results make it possible to discuss further details of the chirality-dependent growth behavior observed for in situ Raman spectroscopy. 相似文献
