In this study, the breakup of a melt jet into a viscous medium is investigated in the presence of an intense electric field. Fragmentation of the melt jet occurs due to both hydrodynamic and electrohydrodynamic (EHD) forces within two kinds of silicone oil of different viscosities. The size and shape characteristics of the produced particles have been studied using SEM images, and the particle size distributions were found to exhibit considerable variations when a voltage was applied and when both the viscosity and temperature of the base fluid were changed. The morphologies of the particles were also affected by the same parameters. For instance, by applying EHD force, significant enhancements in size reduction and increased roundness of the particles occurred. The breakup process of the melt jet was found to be dominant by hydrodynamic or electrohydrodynamic instabilities, depending on the situation. Governing mechanisms (instability) in the cases of pure hydrodynamic and electrohydrodynamic fragmentations are discussed.  相似文献

An asymmetrical rotating shaft with unequal mass moments of inertia and flexural rigidities in the direction of principal axes is considered. In this system, there are two excitation sources, including a harmonic excitation due to the dynamic imbalances and a parametric excitation due to shaft asymmetry. Nonlinearities are due to the in-extensionality of the shaft and large amplitude. In this study, harmonic and parametric resonances due to the mentioned effects are considered. The influences of inequality of mass moments of inertia and flexural rigidities in the direction of principal axes, inequality between two eccentricities corresponding to the principal axes and external damping on the stability and bifurcation of steady state response of the rotating asymmetrical shaft are investigated. In addition, the characteristic of stable stationary points and loci of bifurcation points as function of damping coefficient are determined. In order to analyze the resonances of the system the multiple scales method is applied to the complex form of partial differential equations of motion. The achieved results show a good agreement with those of numerical computation.  相似文献

In environmental applications of extreme value statistics, the underlying stochastic process is often modeled either as a max-stable process in continuous time/space or as a process in the domain of attraction of such a max-stable process. In practice, however, the processes are typically only observed at discrete points and one has to resort to interpolation to fill in the gaps. We discuss the influence of such an interpolation on estimators of marginal parameters as well as estimators of the exponent measure. In particular, natural conditions on the fineness of the observational scheme are developed which ensure that asymptotically the interpolated estimators behave in the same way as the estimators which use fully observed continuous processes.  相似文献

Electrohydrodynamic conduction pumping of dielectric liquid films using flush-mounted electrodes is investigated numerically. Two major factors consisting of the ion mobility difference and electrodes’ configuration can affect the conduction pumps. The relative importance of these factors on the hydrodynamic behavior has been studied at different configurations of flush-mounted electrodes for conduction pumping of various dielectric liquids with different electrical properties. Furthermore, the effect of heterocharge layer structure on the hydrodynamic behavior of conduction pump has been studied. The electrical behavior and flow patterns of dielectric liquids with real measured mobilities are compared with the experimental results, and new features of conduction pumping are found. The numerical results indicate that in the various operating conditions, the flow direction is dictated by the dominant factor.  相似文献

The presented compound, Sr2TaMnO6, has a weak, disordered magnetic structure. The metal oxide was prepared under high isostatic oxygen pressure. The doubling of the perovskite structure was proven with electron diffraction and powder neutron diffraction. Combining neutron- and X-ray diffraction data, the room-temperature structure was modelled with the Rietveld method. Both octahedral positions are partially occupied by Mn and Ta, but with different Mn/Ta ratios. AC- and DC-magnetic measurements indicate a magnetic transition at about 17 K and the AC-magnetic susceptibility, both real and imaginary part, is frequency dependent, suggesting that the material has a spin-glass feature. The magnetic spins freeze during a wide temperature range and a possible explanation is a competative situation between the double exchange (ferromagnetism) and the super-exchange (anti-ferromagnetism).  相似文献

Heat transfer enhancement from cylindrical heat sources as electronic components established at the bottom of duct with in-line arrangement and also from the bottom by electrohydrodynamic (EHD) actuator has been investigated experimentally. Air flow is drawn to the duct with various Reynolds numbers based on hydraulic diameter of inlet of the test section (Re = 0, 500, 1100, 2500 and 3870) that include natural convection (confined and unconfined cases) and forced convection (laminar and turbulent flows). Wire electrodes are arranged in transverse direction and perpendicular to the main flow with two various arrangements and high voltages are applied up to 30 kV in the wires. The results revealed that the second electrode arrangement (three wires over the ribs) is more effective due to more enhancement of heat transfer and less corona power consumption in comparison with the first one (four wires between the ribs). Also the electric field is obviously more effective for low Reynolds numbers.  相似文献

Kinetics of hydrate formation for propane and its mixture with 73% methane have been studied experimentally and theoretically at pressure up to 2 MPa and temperature up to 277.65 K in a 10 m circulating flow reactor. A mathematical model has been developed for the process of hydrate formation based on crystallization, mass transfer and thermodynamics concepts. The amounts of gas consumptions due to hydrate formation are measured experimentally and predicted by the model. The agreement between the experimental measured gas consumptions and predicted values by the mathematical model are very good and the average deviation errors in the prediction of gas consumption are less than 10%.  相似文献

In the present article an investigation is presented into the stability of an electro-statically deflected clamped–clamped micro-beam sandwiched by two piezoelectric layers undergoing a parametric excitation applying an AC voltage to these layers. Applying an electrostatic actuation not only deflects the micro-beam but also decreases the bending stiffness of the structure, which can lead the structure to an unstable position by undergoing a saddle node bifurcation. Utilizing an appropriate AC actuation voltage to the piezoelectric layers produces a time varying axial force, which can play the role of a stabilizer exciting the system parameter. The governing equation of the motion is a nonlinear electro-mechanically coupled type PDE, which is derived using variational principle and discretized, applying Eigen-function expansion method. The resultant is a Mathieu type equation in its damped form. Using Floquet theory for single degree of freedom system the stable and unstable regions of the problem are investigated. The effects of viscous damping and electrostatic actuation on the stable regions of the problem are also studied.  相似文献
