K0 production in e+e− annihilations at 30 GeV center of mass energy

Inclusive K⁰-production has been measured in e⁺e^- annihilation at a center of mass energy of about W = 30 GeV. The ratio of K⁰ + K⁰ production to μ⁺μ^- production is R_K0 = 5.6 ± 1.1 (statist. error) ± 0.8 (system.error) This value is about a factor of three higher than R_K0 at W = 7 GeV. The cross sections (s/β) dσ/dx is consistent with a scaling behaviour.     

Photorefractive effects for reversible holographic storage of information

Optical storage of information offers great potential for high capacity and speed. A very promising approach to the embodiment of an optical memory is based on volume storage in the form of phase holograms. Attractive storage materials for such a system are electrooptic crystals. The storage mechanism in these materials is based on light induced permanent changes of the refractive index-the photorefractive effect. In this article the physical processes underlying photorefractive hologram recording are outlined, and some of the advantages and limitations of this method are discussed.     

Excited states in128Ba

A group of proton emitters of Au, Ir, Re, Ta has been identified by means of mass values derived from the experimental data. The proton drip line has been determined. It is shown that on the boundary of the proton stability the values of proton pairing energies increase by about 50% as compared with the isotone nuclei near the betastability line.     

Line-shape of the vibrational bands of the CN- UV emission spectra in alkali halide-cyanide mixed crystals

Measurements of the line-width of the vi$\text{b}$rational bands associated to the a³Π→X¹Σ⁺ electronic transition of the CN ion in alkali halide-cyanide mixed crystals at 2K–250K have been performed. It is obtained that the a³Π→X¹Σ⁺ electronic transition is coupled to a dominant mode of 110 cm^-1 with strength 1.2 in KCN_0.01C?_0.99. From the line-shape of the vibrational bands in all crystals at 4.2K it is suggested that this mode can be ident$\text{i}$fied with a breathing mode of the neighbouring alkali ions.
