Earlier work of potentiometric Ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) sensitive to nonionic surfactants of the polyethoxylate type is further extended. The ISEs constructed were all-solid-state sensors with plasticized PVC membranes. The sensing material was a tetraphenylborate salt of the barium complex with a polyethoxylate nonionic surfactant. As membrane component, the combinations of two polyethoxylates of the nonylphenoxy type, which differed in the number of oxyethylene units (5 or 12), and two different plasticizers, (o-nitrophenyloctyl ether and o-nitrophenylphenyl ether), were tested. The response of these electrodes to different nonionic surfactants and the interference effect of several species has been evaluated. For all the types of tested electrodes, the sensitivities shown were ca. 30.0 mV dec(-1) and the limit of detection, ca. 10(-5) M, when a nonylphenoxyde with 12 oxyethylene units was used as standard. The membrane with the best response characteristics was then applied in potentiometric titrations of this kind of surfactants in the presence of Ba(2+) ion and using tetraphenylborate as the titrant.  相似文献

The activation of the CN triple bond of benzonitrile in the presence of acetic acid and of Os3(CO)12 or H2Os3(CO)10 has been studied. When Os3(CO)12 reacts with PhCN and acetic acid in refluxing n-octane the three main products are (μ-H)Os3(CO)10(μ-O2CCH3) (I), (μ-H)Os3(CO)10(μ-NCHPh) (II) and (μ-H)Os3(CO)10(μ-NHCH2Ph) (III); II and III are analogues of (μ-H)Ru3(CO)10(μ-NCHPh) and (μ-H)Ru3(CO)10(μ-NHCH2Ph) obtained from PhCN, Ru3(CO)12 or H4Ru4(CO)]12, and acetic acid. In contrast to the reaction with ruthenium clusters, Os3(CO)12 and H2Os3(CO)10 also give the adduct Os3(CO)10(CH3COOH) (I). The structure of I has been fully elucidated by X-ray diffraction. Crystals of I are monoclinic, space group P21/m, with unit cell parameters a 7.858(6), b 12.542(8), c 9.867(6) Å, β 109.92(2)°, Z = 2. In I an edge of the triangular cluster of osmium atoms is doubly bridged by a hydride and an acetate ligand. Ten terminal carbonyl groups are bonded to the metal atoms.  相似文献

The electronic structure of the active-site metal cofactor (FeV-cofactor) of resting-state V-dependent nitrogenase has been an open question, with earlier studies indicating that it exhibits a broad S = 3/2 EPR signal (Kramers state) having g values of ∼4.3 and 3.8, along with suggestions that it contains metal-ions with valencies [1V3+, 3Fe3+, 4Fe2+]. In the present work, genetic, biochemical, and spectroscopic approaches were combined to reveal that the EPR signals previously assigned to FeV-cofactor do not correlate with active VFe-protein, and thus cannot arise from the resting-state of catalytically relevant FeV-cofactor. It, instead, appears resting-state FeV-cofactor is either diamagnetic, S = 0, or non-Kramers, integer-spin (S = 1, 2 etc.). When VFe-protein is freeze-trapped during high-flux turnover with its natural electron-donating partner Fe protein, conditions which populate reduced states of the FeV-cofactor, a new rhombic S = 1/2 EPR signal from such a reduced state is observed, with g = [2.18, 2.12, 2.09] and showing well-defined 51V (I = 7/2) hyperfine splitting, aiso = 110 MHz. These findings indicate a different assignment for the electronic structure of the resting state of FeV-cofactor: S = 0 (or integer-spin non-Kramers state) with metal-ion valencies, [1V3+, 4Fe3+, 3Fe2+]. Our findings suggest that the V3+ does not change valency throughout the catalytic cycle.

We have analyzed the genomic distribution and organization of the long interspersed nucleotide element (LINE) L1Tc, a nonlong terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposon of Trypanosoma cruzi. The results indicate that the L1Tc element is dispersed along the parasite genome and that in some regions it is organized in tandem repeats. The data allowed us to define the existence of short direct-repeated sequences flanking the genomic L1Tc elements. Relevant is the finding that the LINE L1Tc is located in genomic regions rich in short interspersed nucleotide elements (SINE)-like sequences. In particular, the L1Tc element is found associated to E13-related sequences, redefined in this work and renamed RS13Tc, and to a newly described RS1Tc sequence. The RS1Tc sequence is present, per haploid genome, in about 3,200 copies. Northern blot analysis showed that the RS1Tc is being transcribed into RNAs of different sizes. The analysis of the chromosomal distribution of these elements in various strains of T. cruzi suggested that this type of clustering might be a common feature of the genome of these parasites.  相似文献

Nine members of a new family of polynuclear ferric complexes have been synthesized and characterized. The reaction of Fe(O(2)CMe)(2) with polydentate Schiff base proligands (H(2)L) derived from salicylidene-2-ethanolamine, followed in some cases by reaction with carboxylic acids, has afforded new complexes of general formulas [Fe(2)(pic)(2)(L)(2)] (where pic(-) is the anion of 2-picolinic acid), [Fe(3)(O(2)CMe)(3)(L)(3)], [Fe(4)(OR)(2)(O(2)CMe)(2)(L)(4)], and [Fe(5)O(OH)(O(2)CR)(4)(L)(4)]. The tri-, tetra-, and pentanuclear complexes all possess unusual structures and novel core topologies. M?ssbauer spectroscopy confirms the presence of high-spin ferric centers in the tri- and pentanuclear complexes. Variable-temperature magnetic measurements suggest spin ground states of S = 0, 1/2, 0, and 5/2 for the bi-, tri-, tetra-, and pentanuclear complexes, respectively. Fits of the magnetic susceptibility data have provided the magnitude of the exclusively antiferromagnetic exchange interactions. In addition, an easy-axis-type magnetic anisotropy has been observed for the pentanuclear complexes, with D values of approximately -0.4 cm(-)(1) determined from modeling the low-temperature magnetization data. A low-temperature micro-SQUID study of one of the pentanuclear complexes reveals magnetization hysteresis at nonzero field. This is attributed to an anisotropy-induced energy barrier to magnetization reversal that is of molecular origin. Finally, an inelastic neutron scattering study of one of the trinuclear complexes has revealed that the magnetic behavior arises from two distinct species.  相似文献

The Ru(II) organometallic antitumor complex [(eta(6)-biphenyl)RuCl(en)][PF(6)] (1) reacts slowly with the amino acid L-cysteine (L-CysH(2)) in aqueous solution at 310 K. Reactions were followed over periods of up to 48 h using HPLC, electronic absorption spectroscopy, LC-ESI-MS, and 1D or 2D (1)H and (15)N NMR spectroscopy. Reactions at a 1 mM/2 mM (Ru/L-CysH(2)) ratio were multiphasic in acidic solutions (pH 5.1) and appeared to involve aquation as the first step. Initially, 1:1 adducts involving substitution of Cl by S-bound or O-bound L-CysH(2), [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(S-L-CysH)(en)](+) (4a) and [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(O-L-CysH(2))(en)](2+) (4b) formed, followed by the cystine adduct [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(O-Cys(2)H(2))(en)](2+) (3), and two dinuclear complexes from which half or all of the chelated ethylenediamine had been displaced, [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(H(2)O)(microS,N-L-Cys)Ru(eta(6)-biphenyl)(en)](2+) (5) containing one bridging cysteine, and [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(O,N-L-Cys-S)(S-L-Cys-N)Ru(eta(6)-biphenyl)(H(2)O)] (6) containing two bridging cysteines. The unusual cluster species [(biphenyl)Ru](8) (7a) was also detected by MS and was more prevalent in reactions at higher L-CysH(2) concentrations. Complex 5 was the dominant product at pH 2-5, but overall, only ca. 50% of 1 reacted with L-CysH(2) in these conditions. The reaction between 1 and L-CysH(2) was suppressed in 50 mM triethylammonium acetate solution at pH > 5 or in 100 mM NaCl. Only 27% of complex 1 reacted with L-methionine (L-MetH) at an initial pH of 5.7 after 48 h at 310 K and gave rise to only one adduct [(eta(6)-biphenyl)Ru(S-L-MetH)(en)](2+) (8).  相似文献

A new family of tetranuclear Ni complexes [Ni(4)(ROH)(4)L(4)] (H(2)L = salicylidene-2-ethanolamine; R = Me (1) or Et (2)) has been synthesized and studied. Complexes 1 and 2 possess a [Ni(4)O(4)] core comprising a distorted cubane arrangement. Magnetic susceptibility and inelastic neutron scattering studies indicate a combination of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic pairwise exchange interactions between the four Ni(II) centers, resulting in an S = 4 spin ground state. Magnetization measurements reveal an easy-axis-type magnetic anisotropy with D approximately -0.93 cm(-)(1) for both complexes. Despite the large magnetic anisotropy, no slow relaxation of the magnetization is observed down to 40 mK. To determine the origin of the low-temperature magnetic behavior, the magnetic anisotropy of complex 1 was probed in detail using inelastic neutron scattering and frequency domain magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The spectroscopic studies confirm the easy-axis-type anisotropy and indicate strong transverse interactions. These lead to rapid quantum tunneling of the magnetization, explaining the unexpected absence of slow magnetization relaxation for complex 1.  相似文献

The reaction of dehydrobromination of 2-(p-nitrophenyl)ethyl bromide with hydroxide ions has been studied in aqueous micellar solutions of N-tetradecyl-N,N-dimethyl-3-ammonio-1-propanesulfonate, SB3-14. The kinetic effects of added salts (NaF, NaCl, NaBr, and NaNO(3)) on the reaction rate in SB3-14 aqueous micellar solutions have also been studied. They were rationalized by considering the binding of the anions, which come from the salt, to the sulfobetaine micelles and their competition with the reactive hydroxide ions for the micellar surface. The equilibrium binding constant of the 2-(p-nitrophenyl)ethyl bromide to the sulfobetaine micelles was estimated by recording the changes in the spectra of the organic substrate when the SB3-14 concentration in the micellar medium changed. This value was in agreement with that obtained from fitting of kinetic data. The second-order rate constant in the micellar pseudophase revealed that the reaction is faster in SB3-14 micelles than in water. This acceleration seems independent of the presence of added salts and can be explained by considering that SB3-14 micelles favor reactions in which charge is delocalized in the transition state. An intelligent, automatic system based on an array of non-specific-response chemical sensors was developed. As a great amount of information is required for its correct modelling, we propose a system generating it itself. The sequential injection analysis (SIA) technique was chosen as it enables the processes of training, calibration, validation and operation to be automated simply. Detection was carried out using an array of potentiometric sensors based on PVC membranes of different selectivity. The diluted standard solutions needed for system learning and response modelling are automatically prepared from more concentrated standards. The electrodes used were characterised with respect to one and two analytes, by means of high-dimensionality calibrations, and the response surface of each was represented; this characterisation enabled an interference study of great practical utility. The combined response was modelled by means of artificial neural networks (ANNs), and thus it was possible to obtain an automated electronic tongue based on SIA. In order to identify the ANN which provided the best model of the electrode responses, some of the network's parameters were optimised and its usefulness in determining NH4+, K+ and Na+ ions in synthetic samples was then tested. Finally, it was used to determine these ions in commercial fertilisers, the obtained results being compared with reference methods.  相似文献

Summary The kinetics of replacement of 4,4-bipyridine, (4,4-bipy), and 4-cyanopyridine, (4-CNpy), by cyanide in [Fe(CN)5-(4,4-bipy)]3-. at 298 K have been studied in binary aqueous mixtures containing different amounts of t-butanol, methanol, glycerol, ethyleneglycol and sucrose. The plots of logarithms of the limiting rate constantsversus the mole fraction of water are linear over the entire composition range studied, showing the importance of solvation phenomena. A different straight line of log (kL/s–1)versus XH2O is obtained for each mixture, indicating the influence of other solvent parameters on the reaction rate. A multiparameter regression of G exp with A (acidity vector), B (basicity vector) and GE is used for both reactions; plots of G calc versus G exp are linear with slopes of near unity.  相似文献
