In the present work, we have carried out energy transfer studies using newly synthesised derivatives of thiophene substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles namely, 2-(-4-(thiophene-3-yl)phenyl)-5-(5-(thiophene-3-yl)thiophene-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole [TTO], 2-(-4-(benzo[b]thiophene-2-yl)phenyl)-5-(5-(benzo[b]thiophene-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiozole [TBO] and 2-(4-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)phenyl)-5-(5-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)thiophen-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole [TMO] as donors and laser dye coumarin-334 as acceptor in ethanol and dye-doped polymer (poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)) media following steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence methods. Bimolecular quenching constant (k q), translation diffusion rate parameter (k d), diffusion length (D l), critical transfer distance (R 0), donor- acceptor distance (r) and energy transfer efficiency (E T) are calculated. It is observed that, critical transfer distance is more than the diffusion length for all the pairs. Further, bimolecular quenching constant is also more than the translation diffusion rate parameter. Hence, our experimental findings suggest that overall energy transfer is due to Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) between donor and acceptor in both the media and for all the pairs. In addition, considerable increase in fluorescence intensity and energy transfer efficiency is observed in dye-doped polymer matrix systems as compared to liquid media. This suggests that, these donor-acceptor pairs doped in PMMA matrix may be used for applications such as energy transfer dye lasers (ETDL) to improve the efficiency and photostability, to enhance tunability and for plastic scintillation detectors.  相似文献

Extraction of Mo(VI) by 4-(5-nonyl)pyridine (NPy) in benzene from mineral acid solutions containing thiocyanate ions has been investigated at room temperature (23±2°C). From mineral acid (HCl, HNO3, and H2SO4) solutions alone Mo(VI) is not extracted quantitatively while the presence of small amounts of KSCN in the system augments the extraction by a large factor. Stoichiometric studies indicate that ion-pair type complexes (NPyH)2·[MoO2(SCN)4] are responsible for the extraction. Separation factors determined at fixed extraction conditions (0.1M Npy/C6H6–0.1M acid +0.2M KSCN) reveal that Ag(I), Cu(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) and U(VI) are co-extracted while a clean separation from alkali metals, alkaline earths and some transition metals like Ln(III), Zr(IV), Hf(IV), Cr(III), Cr(VI) and Ir(III) is possible. Some of the complexing anions like oxalate, citrate, acetate, thiosulfate or ascorbate do not affect the degree of extraction of Mo(VI) allowing it to be recovered from diverse matrices.  相似文献

The diseases vectored by mosquitoes continue to be a main cause of illnesses and death throughout the world. The methanol extract of Juglans regia male flower was screened for larvicidal activity against three therapeutically important mosquito vectors viz., malarial vector, Anopheles stephensi; dengue vector, Aedes aegypti and the filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus. The larvicidal activity was assayed against the early fourth-instar larvae of tested mosquito species at a concentration ranging from 12.5 to 200 ppm under laboratory conditions. The methanol extract recorded significant mortality against the early fourth-instar larvae of the tested species. After 12 and 24 h of exposure period, the highest effect was recorded in An. stephensi with LC50 values of 139.87 and 59.80 ppm and LC90 values of 288.96 and 166.73 ppm, respectively, followed by Ae. aegypti and Cx. quinquefasciatus. The results could be useful in search for newer, safer and more effective natural larvicidal agents.  相似文献

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) occurs due to an abnormality of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells that leads to gradual degeneration of the macula. Currently, AMD drug pipelines are endowed with limited options, and anti-VEGF agents stand as the dominantly employed therapy. Despite the proven efficacy of such agents, the evidenced side effects associated with their use underscore the need to elucidate other mechanisms involved and identify additional molecular targets for the sake of therapy improvement. The previous literature provided us with a solid rationale to preliminarily explore the potential of selective HDAC6 and HSP90 inhibitors to treat wet AMD. Rather than furnishing single-target agents (either HDAC6 or HSP90 inhibitor), this study recruited scaffolds endowed with the ability to concomitantly modulate both targets (HDAC6 and HSP90) for exploration. This plan was anticipated to accomplish the important goal of extracting amplified benefits via dual inhibition (HDAC6/HSP90) in wet AMD. As a result, G570 (indoline-based hydroxamate), a dual selective HDAC6-HSP90 inhibitor exerting its effects at micromolar concentrations, was pinpointed in the present endeavor to attenuate blue light-induced cell migration and retinal neovascularization by inhibiting VEGF production. In addition to the identification of a potential chemical tool (G570), the outcome of this study validates the candidate HDAC6-HSP90 as a compelling target for the development of futuristic therapeutics for wet AMD.  相似文献

Taraxacum officinale (T. officinale), a wild vegetable with a number of health claims, has been mostly ignored and unexplored. The study aims to compare the nutritional, phytochemical as well as antidiabetic potential of fresh as well as shade-dried leaves of T. officinale, in order to recommend its best form as a dietary antidiabetic product. The results revealed that as compared to fresh leaves, the shade-dried leaves, in addition to possessing higher levels of carbohydrates, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, etc., also contain appreciable amounts of total phenols (5833.12 ± 4.222 mg/100), total flavonoids (188.84 ± 0.019 mg/100 g), ascorbic acid (34.70 ± 0.026 mg/100 g), β-carotene (3.88 ± 1.473 mg/100 g) and total chlorophyll (239.51 ± 0.015 mg/100 g) antioxidants. The study revealed the presence of medicinally important antidiabetic flavonoid quercetin present in T. officinale leaves. Among the three solvent systems used, the aqueous extract of shade-dried T. officinale leaves comparatively demonstrated potent antidiabetic activity under in vitro conditions in a dose-dependent manner via targeting α-amylase and α-glucosidase, the two potent enzymes of carbohydrate metabolism. Therefore, in addition to being a nutritious herb, the shade-dried leaves of T. officinale have great potential to suppress post-prandial glucose rise and can be better exploited through clinical trials to be used as a dietary intervention for better management of diabetes.  相似文献
