Über Reaktionen mit Betain,XIV Darstellung von Trifluoracetyl-methylid-trifluoracetaten aus Betainen

The reaction of trimethylammonium acetic acid betaine (1) with trifluoroaceticanhydride (TFA) yielding trifluoroacetyl-N-methylide can be extended to triethylammonium acetic acid betaine (2), 2-pyridiniumpropionic acid betaine (9) andN,N-dimethyl-piperidinium-2-carboxylate betaine (14). Trigonelline and 3-pyridiniumpropionic acid betaine (11), however, do not react in this way. It follows that the formation of such ylides is only possible if the methylene or methine group of the betaines are flanked by ammonium and carboxylate group.

Zusammenfassung Aus aromatischen Säureamiden und monosubstituierten Malonsäuren entstehen in Gegenwart verschiedener Kondensationsmittel (POCl₃, PCl₃, SOCl₂ oder Acetanhydrid) Derivate des 1,3-Oxazins.Besonders gut verlaufen solche Reaktionen bei Verwendung monosubstituierter Malonsäurechloride, wobei die Zugabe von Katalysatoren nicht notwendig ist. Malonylchlorid hingegen reagiert mit aromatischen Säureamiden zu bicyclischen Pyrano-[3,4-e]-7-hydroxy-(1,3)-oxazinonen, die auf anderem Wege auch vonDavis undElvidge erhalten worden sind.Auszug aus der DissertationH. D-Glucose has been converted into its functionalized derivative $\text{7b}$ a synthon (C₁–C₆) of the carbomycin macrolide antibiotics.     

Apparatur zur säulenelektrophorese in nichtwässrigen lösungsmitteln

An apparatus for electrophoresis in non-aqueous solvents is described, which makes it possible to work in field strengths up to 150 V/cm and at temperatures down to ?50°. A flow-through cell with two double “Suprasil” windows facilitates the photometric evaluation of the separations, and keeps the sample cool until it reaches the detection system. Potassium Polysulphides have been separated as an example of salts sensitive to hydrolysis, thiocyanato(phenylenediamine)chromium(III) complexes as an example of salts only slightly soluble in water, and aromatic sulphonates as an example of salts complexed by crown compounds.

It seems reasonable to assume that, in certain problems, some types of snow may be considered as perfectly plastic bodies. With this assumption, various problems concerned with the formation of avalanches and with its prevention are discussed.

Zusammenfassung Analog dem Malonsäure-bis-(2,6-dimethylphenol)-ester¹ läßt sich auch der entsprechende n-Butylmalonsäureester unter Wanderung einer Methylgruppe cyclisieren. Unter dem Einfluß von AlCl₃ entsteht in diesem Falle vorwiegend 3-Butyl-6,8-dimethyl-4-hydroxycumarin II.
