InAs/GaAs quantum dot infrared photodetectors with different growth temperatures

InAs/GaAs quantum dot infrared photodetectors were fabricated with quantum dots grown at three different temperatures. Large detection wavelength shift (5–14.5 μm) was demonstrated by changing 40 degrees of the epitaxy temperature. The smaller quantum dots grown at lower temperature generate 14.5 μm responses. The detectivity of the normal incident 15 μm QDIP at 77 K is 3 × 10⁸ cm Hz^1/2/W. A three-color detector was also demonstrated with quantum dots grown at medium temperature. The three-color detection comes from two groups of different sizes of dots within one QD layer. This new type of multicolor detector shows unique temperature tuning behavior that was never reported before.

Synthesis of acetone oxime through acetone ammoximation over TS-1

The ammoximation of acetone to acetone oxime with 30 wt.% hydrogen peroxide over TS-1 has been studied. The conversion of acetone and the selectivity to acetone oxime can reach 99% and 94%, respectively. The by-products are the corresponding hydrazone, imine and small amounts of unidentified compounds. The influence of various parameters such as solvent, temperature, amounts of catalyst and the NH₃ to acetone molar ratio were investigated. MULTIPLICATION OF WEAK FUNCTIONS

This paper is a contionuation of [1] and is concerned with multiplication of weak functions. Here the weak functions are treated as generalized expansions in Hermite functions in [2].     

Molybdenum nitride fibers or tubes via ammonolysis of polysulfide precursor

Millimeter-sized molybdenum nitride (MoN), in the forms of fiber-like prisms or hollow tubes, has been successfully synthesized via thermal ammonolysis of molybdenum polysulfide precursor. The initial morphology of the precursor is well preserved in the final product. This method could be expanded to preparation of other fiber-like nonmetal ceramics without addition of template. The polysulfide precursor (abbreviated to PS), hydrothermally prepared at 30°C (PS1) or 150°C (PS2), was characterized by various methods for better comprehension of the sulfide-nitride topotactic conversion model.     

Infinite Prandtl number limit of Rayleigh‐Bénard convection

We rigorously justify the infinite Prandtl number model of convection as the limit of the Boussinesq approximation to the Rayleigh‐Bénard convection as the Prandtl number approaches infinity. This is a singular limit problem involving an initial layer. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
