A CO2-Switchable Polymer Surfactant Copolymerized with DMAEMA and AM as a Heavy Oil Emulsifier

A CO₂-switchable polymer surfactant was synthesized with acrylamide (AM) and 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA). The changes in conductivity, particle size, and ζ-potential were adopted to illustrate its switchability. The CMC of the surfactant was determined by the break point of the curve of surface tension versus concentration. An oil emulsion with 8 g/L surfactant almost reached the highest stability. The thermodynamic stability of the emulsion decreased sharply upon increase of the temperature. Adding an inorganic salt was hard to affect the emulsion stability because the surfactant is non-ionic. The emulsion could maintain its stability even if the concentration of NaCl was as high as 10 g/L. The emulsion could easily be broken by bubbling CO₂. Its dehydration rate was 155 times faster than that without the presence of CO₂, and the amount of residual oil in water was only 32.22 ppm, which displayed brilliant performance of de-emulsification.     

Residue and dissipation of zinc thiazole in tobacco field ecosystem

A high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet (HPLC-UV) detection method after derivatisation was developed for the first time for the novel fungicide zinc thiazole residue in tobacco samples. Field trials in two different locations were conducted to investigate the dissipation and residue of zinc thiazole in tobacco leaves and soil. The average recoveries of zinc thiazole were in the range of 82.5%–93.9% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 1.2%–9.1%. The zinc thiazole showed a rapid dissipation rate in fresh tobacco leaves with the half-lives of 1.1–1.6 days. The terminal residues of zinc thiazole in cured tobacco leaves and soil were 2.8–28.0 mg kg^?1and <0.05 mg kg^?1, respectively. The results could be used to establish the maximum residue limits (MRLs) and provide guidance for the scientific use of zinc thiazole in agriculture.

采用离子对反相高效液相色谱法研究了伊班膦酸钠及其有关物质的色谱分离方法。以Inertsil C8色谱柱为固定相,乙腈．甲醇．12mmol／L乙酸铵缓冲液（含35mmol／L正戊胺,pH7．0）（8：4：88）为流动相,流速为1．0mL／min,分析物以通用型的蒸发光散射检测器（ELSD）测定。在该色谱条件下,伊班膦酸钠及其有关物质分离良好且能够被同时检测。本方法采用的可挥发离子对试剂和缓冲液的流动相系统,同时解决了伊班膦酸钠及其有关物质的分离与检测的问题,简单快速、专属性强,适用于伊班膦酸钠的有关物质检测,为该药的质量控制提供了简便可靠的分析手段。     

Simple analysis of four bisphosphonates simultaneously by reverse phase liquid chromatography using n-amylamine as volatile ion-pairing agent

Volatile organic amine was used as the mobile phase addictive during the separation of four bisphosphonates (alendronate, pamidronate, zoledronic acid and etidronate). An isocratic liquid chromatography method with evaporative light-scattering detection (ELSD) was developed for these bisphosphonates which are not retained on non-polar column and lack chromophore for detection. The analytes have sufficiently separated from each other on a Phenomenex C18 column. The effects of mobile phase composition and instrumental parameters of ELSD were studied. This newly developed method enables direct measurement for analysis of bisphosphonates without the need of derivatization. This developed method provides high separation and specificity to bisphosphonate analysis. In quantitative analysis, the method showed satisfactory precision (less than 2.8%) and accuracy (higher than 94.4%), good linearity (r=0.9991-0.9997) and sufficient sensitivity (15-18 microg/ml). It can be easily and conveniently adopted for the routine quality control analysis.     

Assembly of Ag（I） Polymers with Thioether-S Binding and Homochiral Helices

A novel coordination polymer [Ag(pyta)]n (pyta^-=4-pyridylthioacetate) containing bound thioether sulfurs and single-stranded helical chains has been synthesized and structurally characterized.     

Development of a multiplexed microbioreactor system for high-throughput bioprocessing

A multiplexed microbioreactor system for parallel operation of multiple microbial fermentation is described. The system includes miniature motors for magnetic stirring of the microbioreactors and optics to monitor the fermentation parameters optical density (OD), dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH, in-situ and in real time. The microbioreactors are fabricated out of poly(methylmethacrylate)(PMMA) and poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS), and have a working volume of 150 microl. Oxygenation of the cells occurs through a thin PDMS membrane at the top of the reactor chamber. Stirring is achieved with a magnetic spin bar in the reactor chamber. Parallel microbial fermentations with Escherichia coli are carried out in four stirred microbioreactors and demonstrate the reproducible performance of the multiplexed system. The profiles for OD, DO, and pH compare favourably to fermentations performed in bioreactor systems with multiple bench-scale reactors. Finally, the multiplexed system is used to compare two different reactor designs, demonstrating that the reproducibility of the system permits the quantification of microbioreactor performance.

The paper presented novel synthesis of NaA zeolite membrane with good performance using microwave heating. The method involved two steps, prior seeding 120 nm of LTA crystals on substrate and then employing a secondary hydrothermal synthesis. Effects of seeding times, synthesis time and synthesis times were investigated in this work. The quality evaluation of membranes respectively used single component gases (HE and N2) and H2/N2 (equivalent volume) mixture. The ideal H2,/N2 selectivity increased from 1.90 of the substrate to 6.37 of the three-stage synthesized membrane, which was distinctly higher than the corresponding Knudsen diffusion selectivity of 3.74. However, the real H2/N2 selectivity of the three-stage synthesis was much lower than the corresponding ideal selectivity and close to the corresponding Knudsen diffusion selectivity of 3.74.     

Single crystal tin nano-rod arrays electrodeposited by a soft template

Single crystal tin nano-rod arrays were fabricated by the electrodeposition method when amphiphilic triblock copolymer P123 was used as a soft template at a concentration much lower than that for forming a liquid crystalline phase.     

Theoretical study of sequence distributions in polydienes. II. Non-steady-state analysis of a bernoullian process

With the aid of the non-steady-state kinetic method, the sequence distribution of polydienes conforming to a Bernoullian process is treated theoretically. The expressions for sequence length distribution, the probability functions, and other structural parameters are derived in closed form. The results obtained show that at the beginning of polymerization all the parameters mentioned vary with reaction time, monomer conversion, and the ratio of initial concentrations of monomer to initiator, but monotropically approach their respective limits which are identical with those derived from statistics.
