The application of the nonsmooth critical point theory to the stationary electrorheological fluids

In this paper, we prove the existence of variational solutions to systems modeling electrorheological fluids in the stationary case. Our method of proof is based on the nonsmooth critical point theory for locally Lipschitz functional and the properties of the generalized Lebesgue–Sobolev space.     

Improving signal-to-noise ratio performance of compressive imaging based on spatial correlation

In this paper, compressive imaging based on spatial correlation (CISC), which uses second-order correlation with the measurement matrix, is introduced to improve the signal-to-noise ratio performance of compressive imaging (CI). Numerical simulations and experiments are performed as well. Referred to the results, it can be seen that CISC performs much better than CI in three common noise environments. This provides the great opportunity to pave the way for real applications.     

Low-Temperature Electrolyte Design for Lithium-Ion Batteries: Prospect and Challenges

Lithium-ion batteries have dominated the energy market from portable electronic devices to electric vehicles. However, the LIBs applications are limited seriously when they were operated in the cold regions and seasons if there is no thermal protection. This is because the Li+ transportation capability within the electrode and particularly in the electrolyte dropped significantly due to the decreased electrolyte liquidity, leading to a sudden decline in performance and short cycle-life. Thus, design a low-temperature electrolyte becomes ever more important to enable the further applications of LIBs. Herein, we summarize the low-temperature electrolyte development from the aspects of solvent, salt, additives, electrolyte analysis, and performance in the different battery systems. Then, we also introduce the recent new insight about the cation solvation structure, which is significant to understand the interfacial behaviors at the low temperature, aiming to guide the design of a low-temperature electrolyte more effectively.     

Synthesis and properties of novel soluble poly(amide‐imide)s with different pendant substituents

Two types of novel fluorinated diimide‐diacid monomers—[2,2′‐(4,4′‐(3′‐methylbiphenyl‐2,5‐diyl)bis(oxy)bis(3‐(trifluoromethyl)‐4,1‐phenylene))bis(1,3‐dioxoisoindoline‐5‐carboxylic acid)] (III) and [2,2′‐(4,4′‐(3′‐(trifluoromethyl)biphenyl‐2,5‐diyl)bis(oxy)bis(3‐(trifluoromethyl)‐4,1‐phenylene))bis(1,3‐dioxoisoindoline‐5‐carboxylic acid)] (IV)—were respectively designed and prepared by the condensation of diamines I and II with two molar equivalents of trimellitic anhydride. From both diimide‐diacids, two series of novel poly(amide‐imide)s (PAIs) (IIIa–IIIe and IVa–IVe) bearing different pendant groups were prepared by direct polymerization with various aromatic diamines (a–e). All the PAIs had a high glass transition temperatures (T_gs, 232–265 °C), excellent thermal stability (exhibiting only 5% weight loss at 493–542 °C under nitrogen) and good solubility in various organic solvents due to the introduction of the bulky pendant groups. The cast films of these PAIs (80–90 μm) had good optical transparency (73–81% at 450 nm, 85–88% at 550 nm and 87–89% at 800 nm) and low dielectric constants (2.65–2.98 at 1 MHz). The spin‐coated films of these PAIs presented a minimum birefringence value as low as 0.0077–0.0143 at 650 nm and low optical absorption at the near‐infrared optical communication wavelengths of 1310 and 1550 nm. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Recent progress in copper catalyzed asymmetric Henry reaction

Henry reaction is one of the most classical reactions to construct synthetically useful product nitro alcohol, which as a privileged skeleton is widely distributed in various pharmaceuticals. This review summarizes the recent progress of copper-catalyzed asymmetric Henry reaction from 2011 to 2016. The significant progress that has been made in this area will be highlighted and some of challenges that the author believes may be hindering further progress will be revealed.     

Camptothecin@HMSNs/thermosensitive hydrogel composite for applications in preventing local breast cancer recurrence

The CPT was loaded into the HMSNs with the high loading capacity. Then the CPT@HMSNs were loaded into the PLEL thermosensitive hydrogels for local therapy to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer after the tumor was resected.     

NONLINEAR DYNAMICS AND SYNCHRONIZATION OF TWO COUPLED PIPES CONVEYING PULSATING FLUID

In this paper, the nonlinear dynamical behavior of two coupled pipes conveying pulsating fluid is studied. The connection between the two pipes is considered as a distributed linear spring. Based on this consideration, the equations of motion of the coupled two-pipe system are obtained. The two coupled nonlinear partial differential equations, discretized using the fourth- order Galerkin method, are solved by a fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration algorithm. Results show that the connection stiffness has a significant effect on the dynamical behavior of the coupled system. It is found that for some parameter values the motion types of the two pipes might be synchronous.
