We present the results of preliminary experiments at laser facilities in which the processes of the undeniable destruction of stony asteroids (chondrites) in space by nuclear explosions on the asteroid surface are simulated based on the principle of physical similarity. We present the results of comparative gasdynamic computations of a model nuclear explosion on the surface of a large asteroid and computations of the impact of a laser pulse on a miniature asteroid simulator confirming the similarity of the key processes in the fullscale and model cases. The technology of fabricating miniature mockups with mechanical properties close to those of stony asteroids is described. For mini-mockups 4–10 mm in size differing by the shape and impact conditions, we have made an experimental estimate of the energy threshold for the undeniable destruction of a mockup and investigated the parameters of its fragmentation at a laser energy up to 500 J. The results obtained confirm the possibility of an experimental determination of the criteria for the destruction of asteroids of various types by a nuclear explosion in laser experiments. We show that the undeniable destruction of a large asteroid is possible at attainable nuclear explosion energies on its surface. 相似文献

With detailed experimental studies and hydrodynamics and particle-in-cell simulations we investigate the role of the prepulse in laser proton acceleration. The prepulse or pedestal (amplified spontaneous emission) can completely evaporate the irradiated region of a sufficiently thin foil; therefore, the main part of the laser pulse interacts with an underdense plasma. The multiparametric particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate that the main pulse generates the quasistatic magnetic field, which in its turn produces the long-lived charge separation electrostatic field, accelerating the ions. 相似文献

We suggest a novel method for the injection of electrons into the acceleration phase of particle accelerators, producing low-emittance
beams appropriate even for the demanding high-energy linear collider specifications. We discuss the injection mechanism into
the acceleration phase of the wakefield in a plasma behind a high-intensity laser pulse, which takes advantage of the laser
polarization and focusing. The scheme uses the structurally stable regime of transverse wakewave breaking, when the electron
trajectory self-intersection leads to the formation of a flat electron bunch. As shown in three-dimensional particle-in-cell
simulations of the interaction of a laser pulse elongated in the transverse direction with an underdense plasma, the electrons
injected via the transverse wakewave breaking and accelerated by the wakewave perform betatron oscillations with different
amplitudes and frequencies along the two transverse coordinates. The polarization and focusing geometry lead to a way to produce
relativistic electron bunches with an asymmetric emittance (flat beam). An approach for generating flat laser-accelerated
ion beams is briefly discussed.

We have analyzed and numerically simulated our experiments on the compression of DT-gas-filled glass capsules under irradiation
by a small number of beams on the Iskra-5 facility (12 beams) at the second harmonic of an iodine laser (λ = 0.66 μm) for
a laser pulse energy of 2 kJ and duration of 0.5 ns in the case of asymmetric irradiation and compression. Our simulations
include the construction of a target illumination map and a histogram of the target surface illumination distribution; 1D
capsule compression simulations based on the DIANA code corresponding to various target surface regions; and 2D compression
simulations based on the NUTCY code corresponding to the illumination conditions. We have succeeded in reproducing the shape
of the compressed region at the time of maximum compression and the reduction in neutron yield (compared to the 1D simulations)
to the experimentally observed values. For the Iskra-5 conditions, we have considered targets that can provide a more symmetric

We studied the extraction of chloropalladium complexes by solutions of trioctylmethylammonium di(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)dithiophosphinate
in toluene over a wide range of aqueous acidities. Distribution factors and spectroscopic studies of extraction products showed

The chemical composition and peculiarities of the structure of a salt that precipitates from aqueous solution of NH4HSeO3 at the 25 °C was studied by NMR and Raman spectroscopy methods using the single crystal samples with different heavy water contents. It was proved that this salt is actually monohydrate of hydrogen selenite, NH4HSeO3H2O but not trihydrate of pyroselenite, (NH4)2Se2O53H2O as was assumed previously based on the data cited in the literature. 相似文献
