We propose a scheme for implementing conditional quantum phase gates
for two four-state atoms trapped in a cavity. The two ground states
of the atoms are coupled through two Raman processes induced by the
cavity mode and two classical fields. Under certain conditions
nonresonant Raman processes lead to two-atom coupling and can
be used to produce conditional phase gates. The scheme is
insensitive to cavity decay, thermal photons, and atomic
spontaneous emission. The scheme does not require individual

First-principles, all-electron, \textit{ab initio} calculations
have been performed to construct an equivalent water potential
for the electronic structure of serine (Ser) in solution. The
calculation is composed of three steps. The first step is to search
for the configuration of the Ser + NH2O system with a minimum
energy. The second step is to calculate the electronic structure of
Ser with the water molecule potential via the self-consistent
cluster-embedding method (SCCE), based on the result obtained in the
first step. The last step is to calculate the electronic structure
of Ser with the dipole potential after replacing the water molecules
with dipoles. The results show that the occupied states of Ser are
raised by about 0.017~Ry on average due to the effect of water. The
water effect can be successfully simulated by using the dipole potential.
The obtained equivalent potential can be applied directly to the
electronic structure calculation of protein in solution by using the

The superparamagnetic 8-nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully prepared by chemical oxidation process. For the complex permittivity, the dual dielectric relaxation processes have been proved by two overlapped Cole–Cole semicircles, and the natural resonance frequency is 3.03 GHz for the complex permeability. The maximum reflection loss value reaches −55.5 dB at 6.11 GHz with 3.85 mm in the thickness of the absorbers for the superparamagnetic 8-nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles which is better than that of 150 nm and 30 nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles. We theoretically investigate the propagation of incoherently coupled Hermite-Gaussian breather and soliton pairs in strongly nonlocal nonlinear media. It is found that multipole-mode soliton pairs with arbitrary different orders of Hermite-Gaussian shape can exist when the total power of two beams equals the critical power and the ratio of the beam widths for the Gaussian part is inversely proportional to the square root of the ratio of the wave numbers. When the total power does not equal the critical power, the Hermite-Gaussian breather pair exists and their beam widths evolve analogously. For general cases where the ratio of the beam widths is arbitrary, soliton-breather pairs or breather-breather pairs can be formed and their beam widths evolve synchronously in-phase or out-of-phase. Numerical simulations directly based on the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation are conducted for comparison with our theoretical predictions. The numerical stability analysis shows the higher-order Hermite-Gaussian solitons can not be stable for small nonlocality or for some media like liquid crystals. 相似文献

The measurement error of a double-edge wind lidar caused by a disturbed Fabry–Perot interferometer (FPI) is analyzed. Several
error sources such as air pressure variations, temperature changes, and mechanical vibrations are considered in the measurement-error
model. The simulation results show that a double-edge wind lidar is so sensitive to environmental variations that the measurement
error reaches ±60 m/s if the FPI is not stabilized. In order to compensate the external disturbance acting on the FPI, a nonlinear
proportional–integral–derivative (PID) control scheme is designed based on the transmission measurement of the calibration
channel. An arc tangent function is used to improve the feedback gain of the usual PID control design. The results show that
with the new controller the measurement accuracy of the wind lidar can be improved 4–5 times in comparison with the usual

In this paper, we introduce word diversity that reflects the inhomogeneity of words in a communication into the naming game. Diversity is realized by assigning a weight factor to each word. The weight is determined by three different distributions (uniform, exponential, and power-law distributions). During the communication, the probability that a word is selected from speaker's memory depends on the introduced word diversity. Interestingly, we find that the word diversity following three different distributions can remarkably promote the final convergency, which is of high importance in the self-organized system. In particular, for all the ranges of amplitude of distribution, the power-law distribution enables the fastest consensus, while uniform distribution gives the slowest consensus. We provide an explanation of this effect based on both the number of different names and the number of total names, and find that a wide spread of names induced by the segregation of words is the main promotion factor. Other quantities, including the evolution of the averaging success rate of negotiation and the scaling behavior of consensus time, are also studied.
