Synthesis of water-soluble bis-<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>,<Emphasis Type="Italic">O</Emphasis>-chelate nickel(II) complexes based on new ligands – <Emphasis Type="Italic">P</Emphasis>-pyridyl-containing phospholane oxides

A series of new N,O-hybrid ligands was synthesized by oxidation of pyridyl-substituted phospholanes. These ligands were employed in the first synthesis of water-soluble mononuclear nickel(II) complexes [NiL₂(H₂O)₂](BF₄)₂ and [NiL₂(MeCN)₂](BF₄)₂. Physicochemical properties and crystalline structures of the synthesized compounds were thoroughly studied.     

Determination of metals in heavy oil residues by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy

A method is proposed for the sample preparation of heavy oil residues characterized by viscosity of more than 700 mm²/sec at 100°C to study their elemental composition. It is shown that a wide range of elements can be determined in heavy oil residues by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (IC-AES) when the sample dissolved in an organic solvent is injected into the instrument. The optimal parameters for the determination of metals in heavy oil residues by ICP-AES are selected, including an organic solvent and the method of sample dilution. The results of elemental analysis of heavy residues of oils from Chernigovskoe, Shpakovskoe, and Samarskoe deposits are compared. The developed method for determining metals in heavy oil residues significantly reduces the analysis time and does not require complex sample preparation.     

Novel representatives of 16-membered aminomethylphosphines with alkyl substituents at nitrogen and their gold(I) complexes

Novel 1,9-diaza-3,7,11,15-tetraphosphacyclohexadecanes with alkyl, arylalkyl, or heteroarylalkyl substituents at the endocyclic nitrogen atoms were synthesized by condensation of 1,3-bis(phenylphosphino)propane, formaldehyde, and primary amines. The reactions are stereoselective and result in the isomer with the RSSR configuration of the phosphorus atoms as the major product. The 16-membered tetrakis(phosphine) ligands form stable neutral tetranuclear complexes with gold(I). In these complexes, the 16-membered cyclic ligands retain their free-state conformations and the configuration of the chiral phosphorus atoms.
