Heronapyrroles A-C: farnesylated 2-nitropyrroles from an Australian marine-derived Streptomyces sp

Chemical analysis of a marine-derived Streptomyces sp. (CMB-M0423) isolated from beach sand off Heron Island, Australia, yielded three new members of the rare pyrroloterpene biosynthetic structure class. Identified by detailed spectroscopic analysis as the first reported examples of naturally occurring 2-nitropyrroles, heronapyrroles A-C (1-3) displayed promising biological activity-with low to submicromolar IC(50) activity against Gram-positive bacteria but no cytotoxicity toward mammalian cell lines.     

Sonochemical multi-component synthesis of spirooxindoles

New and efficient multi-component methods have been developed for the synthesis of spirooxindoles in the presence of a catalytic amount of p-TSA as an inexpensive and available catalyst in EtOH under ultrasound irradiation. Heterogeneous Green Catalyst for Oxidation of Cyclohexene and Cyclooctene with Hydrogen Peroxide in the Presence of Host (Nanocavity of Y‐zeolite)/Guest (N4‐Cu(II) Schiff Base Complex) Nanocomposite Material

Copper(II) complex of a Schiff base ligand derived from pyrrolcarbaldehyde and o‐phenylenediamine (H₂L) has been synthesized and encapsulated in Y‐zeolite matrix. The hybrid material has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV‐Vis spectroscopic studies as well as X‐ray diffraction (XRD) pattern. The encapsulated copper(II) catalyst is an active catalyst for the oxidation of cyclooctene and cyclohexene using H₂O₂ as oxidant. Under the optimized reaction conditions 81% conversion of cyclohexene with 65% selectivity for 2‐cyclohexenone formation and 87% conversion of cyclooctene with 46% selectivity for epoxide formation were obtained.

Oxandrastins: Antibacterial Meroterpenes from an Australian Mud Dauber Wasp Nest-Associated Fungus,Penicillium sp. CMB-MD14

The ethyl acetate extract of an ISP-2 agar cultivation of the wasp nest-associated fungus Penicillium sp. CMB-MD14 exhibited promising antibacterial activity against vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), with a bioassay guided chemical investigation yielding the new meroterpene, oxandrastin A (1), the first andrastin-like metabolite with an extra oxygenation at C-2. A culture media optimisation strategy informed a scaled-up rice cultivation that yielded 1, together with three new oxandrastins B–D (2–4), two known andrastins C (5) and F (6), and a new meroterpene of the austalide family, isoaustalide F (7). Structures of 1–7 were assigned based on detailed spectroscopic analysis and chemical interconversion. A GNPS molecular networking analysis of the rice cultivation extract detected the known austalides B (8), H (9), and H acid (10), tentatively identified based on molecular formulae and co-clustering with 7. That the anti-VRE properties of the CMB-MD14 extract were exclusively attributed to 1 (IC₅₀ 6.0 µM, MIC₉₉ 13.9 µM), highlights the importance of the 2-OAc and 3-OAc moieties to the oxandrastin anti-VRE pharmacophore.     

Immobilized Vanadium Histidine and Tryptophan Schiff Base Complexes on Modified Magnetite Nanoparticles as Epoxidation Catalyst

In this study, magnetically recoverable vanadium complexs designated as VO(Sal-Tryp)/AmpSCMNPs and VO(Sal-His)/AmpSCMNPs were prepared through immobilization of Schiff bases of histidine or tryptophan with salicylaldehyde on the surface of modified silica coated iron oxide magnetite nanoparticles with (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane as aminopropyl (Amp) spacer followed by complexation with VOSO₄. Characterization was carried out by chemical analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, XRD, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry techniques. VO(Sal-Tryp)/AmpSCMNPs and VO(Sal-His)/AmpSCMNP were found to catalyze the epoxidation of allyl alcohols and olefins with tert-butyl hydroperoxide with excellent conversions and selectivities. Investigation of the stability and reusability revealed the heterogeneity character of the catalyst with no desorption during the course of epoxidation reactions. High yields, clean reactions, easily catalyst separation and recyclability of the solid catalyst are some advantages of this method.     

A novel organocatalytic multi-component reaction: an efficient synthesis of polysubstituted pyrano-fused spirooxindoles

A practical, simple, and efficient method for the synthesis of pyrano-fused spirooxindoles via an organocatalytic three-component reaction of isatins, malononitrile, and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of 3,4-dimethylaniline as an organocatalyst in ethanol is reported. The structures of these products are confirmed by IR, ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.     

A multistep collocation method for solving advection equations with delay

Advection equations with delay are appeared in the modeling of the dynamics of structured cell populations. In this article, we construct an efficient two-dimensional multistep collocation method for the numerical solution of a class of advection equations with delay. Equations with aftereffect and equations with both aftereffect and retardation of a state variable are considered. Computability of the algorithm and convergence properties of the proposed numerical method are analyzed for solutions in appropriate Sobolev spaces, and it is shown that the proposed scheme enjoys the spectral accuracy. Numerical examples are given and comparison with other existing methods in the literature is made to demonstrate the efficiency, superiority and high accuracy of the presented method.
