Spectral and luminescent properties of compounds based on indoline spiropyran and salicylideneimine

Spectral and luminescent properties of two photobifunctional compounds (PBC) were studied, whose molecule includes spirocyclic naphthopyran or naphthoxazine and hydroxyazomethine fragments bound together by different ways, in comparison with model compounds. Temperature and solvent dependences of the luminescence spectrum for PBC 1 and the absence of such dependences for PBC 2 were found. Selective excitation of PBC 1 with enol or cis-keto form of the azomethine fragment leads to the same luminescence spectrum at 293 K.     

Stability of the Front of Filtration Combustion of Bidisperse Fuel Mixture in an Inclined Rotating Gas Generator

To characterize the stability of the filtration combustion (FC) front, a dimensionless coefficient that describes the spatial distortions of the combustion front and is equal to the ratio between the maximum and minimum front width is suggested. It was shown for the example of bidisperse fuel mixtures of hard coal that, with an inclined rotating reactor, the gasification process can be stabilized as compared with the vertical reactor. A stable combustion front was observed at any content of the fine fraction in experiments of gasification of a fuel composed of 5–7- and 3–5-mm fractions. A stable combustion front was observed in experiments with a fine (1–2 mm) fraction up to its content of 60%.

Electrochemical deposition of electrochromic niobium oxide films from an acidic solution of niobium peroxo complexes

Deposition of electrochromic niobium(V) oxide films from an acidic solution of niobium peroxo complexes on a transparent conducting cathode in the form of an SnO₂ film on glass was studied. With an increase in the negative potential of the deposition of niobium(V) oxide films from a solution of niobium peroxo complexes at pH 2.5, the structure and composition of the films changed. A study of the electrochromic properties of Nb₂O₅ films revealed broadening of the bands in the electrochromic coloration spectrum with an increase in the negative potential of the deposition.

Preparation,photochromism, and complex formation with metal ions of pyrazolylazomethine derivative of spirooxazine

New hybrid spirooxazine has been prepared, based on amino-substituted spironaphthoxazine and pyrazolone. Photochromism and photoinduced complex formation with metal ions of the prepared compound has been studied. The effects of solvent polarity and the metal ion nature on the spirooxazine photochromism and the complex formation ability have been elucidated.

Spectral and luminescent properties of hydroxyazomethines of indoline spiropyrans

Spectral and luminescent properties of novel bifunctional compounds 1–3 based on indole spiropyrans and hydroxyazomethines have been studied in comparison with the properties of the model compounds 5’-substituted spiropyrans and azomethines in organic solvents and PMMA films at 293 and 77 K. Luminescence of compounds 1–3 is due to the presence of the azomethine fragment conjugated with the indoline ring of the spiropyran moiety and determining the long-wavelength absorption band of 1–3. Depending on the solvent, temperature, and the substituent, various combinations of the structures of the chromophore fragments are observed in 1–3: the imine or amine form of the azomethine fragment and the spirocyclic or merocyanine form of the spiropyran fragment.
