We have developed intense vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation sources for advanced material processing, such as photochemical
surface reactions and precise processing on a nanometer scale. We have constructed a new VUV laser system to generate sub-picosecond
pulses at the wavelength of 126 nm. A seed VUV pulse was generated in Xe as the 7th harmonic of a 882-nm Ti:sapphire laser.
The optimum conversion was achieved at the pressure of 1.2 Torr. The seed pulse will be amplified by the Ar2*\mathrm{Ar}_{2}^{*} media generated by an optical-field-induced ionization Ar plasma produced by the Ti:sapphire laser. We have obtained a gain
coefficient of g=0.16 cm−1. Our developing system will provide VUV ultra-short pulses with sub-μJ energy at a repetition rate of 1 kHz. 相似文献

Subpicosecond vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) pulses at the wavelength of 126 nm have been generated in rare gases as a result of the 7th harmonic radiation of a subpicosecond Ti:Sapphire laser oscillating at 882 nm. The VUV harmonic intensity was optimized in Xe at the pressure of 1.2 Torr. The behavior of the harmonic emission was qualitatively reproduced by the classical nonlinear optics. An attempt to carry out a total synthesis of kulokekahilide-2 (1) by macrolactonization of a seco acid prepared from a suitably protected hexapeptide and a dioxy acid moiety unexpectedly resulted in the formation of the 43-epimer (1a) of the cytotoxic depsipeptide, for which structure 1b has previously been proposed. A second attempt involving macrolactamization of the corresponding amino acid gave the target product, 1b, but the spectral data of the product did not match those of natural 1. Emulsion polymerizations of styrene using poly(oxyethylene) nonylphenyl ether nonionic emulsifier were carried out at different emulsifier and initiator (potassium persulfate, KPS) concentrations to prepare polystyrene (PS) seed particles with incorporated nonionic emulsifier. Seeded emulsion polymerizations of styrene using the PS seed particles with different amounts of incorporated emulsifier were carried out to develop a novel method for the preparation of multihollow particles. When seed particles with a small amount of incorporated emulsifier were used, non-hollow spherical particles were prepared. However, multihollow particles were obtained in the case of seed particles with a large amount of incorporated emulsifier. Moreover, the higher the initiator concentration in the preparation of seed particles, the more effectively were hollow particles prepared. The effects of the direction of transition dipole moment on polarization-dependent phase-conjugate (PC) reflectivity by degenerate four-wave mixing in a saturable-dye-doped film are theoretically investigated. On the basis of a four-energy-level model for the saturable dyes, the pump-intensity dependence of the PC reflectivity is calculated for the two cases of a probe wave being polarized either parallel or perpendicular to pump waves, when the transition dipole moment associated with excited-state absorption tilts from that associated with ground-state one. For the parallel polarization, in the case of two transition dipole moments having different directions, a dip appears in the PC reflectivity curve near a resonant frequency on account of the characteristics of nonlinear absorption, whereas it disappears when the frequency of light is off resonance due to the influence of nonlinear refractive index. 相似文献
