Biaryl-based macrocyclic and polymeric chiral (salophen)Ni(II) complexes: synthesis and spectroscopic study.

Polymeric/oligomeric and macrocyclic (salophen)Ni(II) complexes have been synthesized starting from both an achiral biphenol dialdehyde and an optically active BINOL dialdehyde. It was found that these polysalophens contain nonplanar coordination of Ni(II) units that are paramagnetic. This is different from the previously reported (salophen)Ni(II) complexes which are square planar and diamagnetic. The nonplanar (salophen)Ni(II) units make the new polymeric Ni(II) complexes different from the helical structure proposed for chiral biaryl-based polymers containing square-planar (salophen)Ni(II) units. The copolymerization of the chiral binaphthyl monomer with the achiral biphenyl monomer demonstrates that the chirality of the binaphthyl unit is not propagated along the biphenyl polymer chain.     

Catalysis of heteropoly acidic salts for synthesis of diethylene glycol ethyl ether with diethylene glycol and ethanol

Ag₃PW₁₂O₄₀ and Ag₄SiW₁₂O₄₀ showed high activity and stability in the synthesis of diethylene glycol ethyl ether with diethylene glycol and ethanol, on which the conversion is 80.2% and 78.4%, respectively, and the selectivity of diethylene glycol ether is 75.4% and 80.6%, respectively. After the third reaction cycle, Ag₃PW₁₂O₄₀ and Ag₄SiW₁₂O₄₀) still showed higher activity and selectivity, on which the conversion is 72. 6% and 77.5% respectively. But the activity of Ag₃PMo₁₂O₄₀ is lower, the conversion is only 21.0%. IR, XRD, TG and n‐butylamine titrimetry showed that the catalysis may be connected with two kinds of acidic centers owned by heteropoly acidic salt.     

生物可降解高吸水性非织造布的研制

用聚丙烯酸接枝淀粉浆液，在ＰＶＡ非织造布上形成吸水树脂，从而得到高吸水性非织造布。对接枝单体的比例、交联条件、浸轧量及非织造布规格等因素对高吸水非织造布吸水性能的影响进行了讨论了并测定了其生物降解性能。     

Stabilization of spiral wave and turbulence in the excitable media using parameter perturbation scheme

This paper proposes a scheme of parameter perturbation to suppress the stable rotating spiral wave, meandering spiral wave and turbulence in the excitable media, which is described by the modified Fitzhug-Nagumo （MFHN） model. The controllable parameter in the MFHN model is perturbed with a weak pulse and the pulse period is decided by the rotating period of the spiral wave approximatively. It is confirmed that the spiral wave and spiral turbulence can be suppressed greatly. Drift and instability of spiral wave can be observed in the numerical simulation tests before the whole media become homogeneous finally.     

Synchronization and coherent combining of two pulsed fiber lasers

We demonstrate a scalable architecture for coherent combining of pulsed fiber lasers.A new method for generating synchronous pulsed fiber lasers by direct phase modulation is proposed and investigated.It is shown that phase modulated mutually coupled laser array can be a steady synchronous pulsed fiber laser source.The synchronous pulsed fiber lasers are coherently combined with an invariable phase difference of π in adjacent lasers.Neither active phase control nor polarization control is taken in our experiment.     

Morphological study of atherosclerotic plaque and its application in vulnerability evaluation

The relationships between the morphological characteristics and the vulnerability of atherosclerotic plaque were analyzed theoretically and several suggestions were proposed to evaluate the plaque vulnerability. Validated by animal experiments and clinical studies, the theoretical results were confirmed. Memory effect of mobile phase additives in chiral separations on a Chiralpak AD column

Using chiral probes shown to be sensitive to the presence of mobile phase additives, a memory effect for these additives by an amylosic column was demonstrated. Exposure to these additives gave prolonged chromatographic performance changes even after their removal from the mobile phase. This finding is consistent with strong binding of the additives to the stationary phase. A procedure to remove bound additives was developed.     

A close look at silver oxide colloid for surface-enhanced Raman scattering

A silver oxide hydrosol has been prepared by reacting silver nitrate with sodium hydroxide in an aqueous solution. The colloidal particle composition and particle size have been characterized by X-ray diffractometry and transmittance electron microscopy. We have demonstrated that the sol is surface-enhanced Raman scattering active. One major advantage of this sol is the absence of the spectral interference arising from reaction products of the sol formation process. The mechanism of surface-enhanced Raman scattering activity is essentially contributed by the silver particles generated from the photochemical process during the laser excitation.     

Kinetics of Cerium(IV) Extraction from H(2)SO(4)-HF Medium with Cyanex 923

Studies of the extraction kinetics of cerium(IV) from H(2)SO(4)-HF solutions with Cyanex 923 in n-heptane have been carried out using a constant interfacial area cell with laminar flow. The experimental hydrodynamic conditions were chosen so that the contribution of diffusion to the measured rate of reaction was minimized. The data were analyzed in terms of pseudo-first order constants. The results were compared with those of the system without HF. It was concluded that the addition of HF reduces the activation energy for the forward rate from 46.2 to 36.5 kJ mol(-1) while it has an opposite effect on the activation energy for the reverse process(the activation energy increased from 23.3 to 90.8 kJ mol(-1)). Thus, HF can accelerate the rate of cerium(IV) extraction. At the same time, the extraction rate is controlled by a mixed chemical reaction-diffusion rather than by a chemical reaction alone. A rate equation has also been obtained.     

Reexamination of neomycin B degradation: efficient preparation of its CD and D rings as protected glycosyl donors

The degradation of neomycin B was reexamined, and a novel protocol was established to prepare the properly masked neomycin CD ring as a glycol donor in excellent yield. Glycosylation of the CD ring with glycol acceptors provided a facile access to versatile intermediates that could be utilized to synthesize a variety of novel neomycin B mimetics for RNA recognition.
