Amphiphilic block copolymers of vinyl ethers (VEs) of the type —[CH2CH(OCH2CH2OR)]m—[CH2CH(OiBu)]n—were synthesized by living cationic polymerization, where R is a D-glucose residue, and m and n are the degrees of polymerization (m = 20–50; n = 11–89). To obtain them, sequential living block copolymerization of isobutyl vinyl ether (IBVE) and the vinyl ether carrying 1,2:5,6-diisopropylidene-D -glucose residue was conducted by using the HCl adduct of IBVE, CH3CH(OiBu)Cl, as initiator in conjunction with zinc iodide. These precursor block copolymers had a narrow molecular weight distribution (M̄w/M̄n ∼ 1.1) and a controlled composition. Treatment of them with a trifluoroacetic acid/water mixture led to the target amphiphiles. The solubility of the amphiphilic block copolymers in various solvents depended strongly on composition or the m/n ratio. Their solvent-cast thin films were observed, under a transmission electron microscope, to exhibit various microphase-separated surface morphologies such as spheres, cylinders, and lamellae, depending on composition. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Photoinitiation processes for photopolymer coating layers have been investigated with respect to quenching rates by a laser flash photolysis using a total reflection cell, as well as to the decomposition‐quantum yield of a sensitizer dye and a radical‐generating reagent by a gel permeative chromatographic analysis (GPC); the sensitizer dye,2‐[p‐(diethylamino)styryl]naphtho[1,2‐d]‐thiazole (DNT) and the radical‐generating reagent, 2,2′‐bis(2‐chlorophenyl)‐4,4′,5,5′‐tetraphenyl‐1,1′‐bi‐1H‐imidazole (BI). From experiments using flash photolysis, strong fluorescence was observed at excitation of 355 nm laser pulse, though no transient absorption was observed. The fluorescence was statically quenched by BI with a quenching distance, R = 11 Å. From the experiments using GPC, the high‐quantum yield of decomposition (Φ) was obtained as Φ (DNT) = 3 and Φ (BI) = 9 for DNT and BI in the presence of acrylate monomers, trimethyrolpropanetri‐acrylate (TMPTA), at 488 nm exposure of 3.36 mJ cm which was required to form a photo‐hardened image, however no decomposition of DNT and BI was detected in the absence of TMPTA. The results imply that the photoinitiator system undergoes efficient static‐dye sensitization and efficient polymerization of the acrylate monomers accompanied with the chain decomposition of DNT and BI. Steady-state and decay birefringence, expressed in terms of the optical phase retardation per cell length delta/d, was measured on beta-FeOOH in aqueous ionic media at 633 nm and at 25 degrees C by an electric square-pulse technique over a wide range of field strength E to ca. 6 kV/cm. The field-strength dependence of both delta/d and field-free rotational relaxation time tau was determined at the sample concentrations between 0.0011 and 0.055 g/L and in the 0.02-2.0 mM NaCl concentration range. Extrapolation of both delta/d and tau values to infinitely high fields (E(2)-->infinity) could yield birefringence- and weight-average quantities, respectively. Observed tau values were decreased at weak fields but leveled off to ca. 0.3 ms at very high fields due to a slight polydispersity regarding the length and volume of particles. The weight-average relaxation time tau(w) was calculated with Perrin's expressions theoretically from the length, width, and volume of beta-FeOOH particles estimated in the dried state from electron micrograph. These quantities were variously averaged. The size distribution was discussed in terms of observed discrete histogram and theoretical (Weibull and Lansing-Kraemer) distribution functions. The sign of observed delta/d value was always positive. The infinitely high-field (delta/d)(infinity) values and the reduced optical anisotropy factor Delta g/n were evaluated by fitting to theoretical orientation functions. The intrinsic birefringence (n3-n1) could be estimated with the mean refractive index n(p) reported in the literature. For the spindle-shaped particle with an axial ratio of ca. 4, the sign of Delta g/n is always positive, whereas the quantity (n3-n1) was either negative (n(p) > 2.35) or positive (n(p) < 2.05) in sign or nearly zero (ca. n(p) = 2.26), depending critically on the n(p) values. 相似文献

To investigate the effect of cadmium on the accumulation of arsenic by Dunaliella sp., the arsenic accumulated in the alga was determined as a function of time for coexistence of the algae with arsenic and cadmium, with batch methodology. Growth of Dunaliella sp. was affected by addition of arsenic (Na2HAsO4.7H2O) and cadmium (CdCl.2.5H2O). Growth inhibition of Dunaliella sp. was accelerated by coexistence of arsenic and cadmium. The content of arsenic in Dunaliella sp. became a maximum at 15 h after exposure. The arsenic content in the cells was influenced by addition of cadmium to the solution; the arsenic content in the alga derived from growth in a 10 mg As dm ?3 solution decreased from 2.7 mg g?1 in the absence of cadmium to 0.35 mg g?1 for the addition of 100 mg Cd dm?3. Dunaliella sp. accumulated cadmium in large quantities but, in conditions of coexistence with arsenic and cadmium, the cadmium content in cells decreased with an increase in the concentration of arsenic in the growth medium Cadmium accumulation by Dunaliella sp. was observed in dead cells although arsenic accumulation was not observed. About 85% of arsenic in the cells was in the water-soluble fraction. On the other hand, about 42% of cadmium in the cells was in the water-soluble fraction, and about 55% was in a fraction soluble in cold trichloroacetic acid. 相似文献

We are concerned with the oscillation problem for the nonlinear self-adjoint differential equation (a(t)x′)′+b(t)g(x)=0. Here g(x) satisfied the signum condition xg(x)>0 if x≠0, but is not imposed such monotonicity as superlinear or sublinear. We show that certain growth conditions on g(x) play an essential role in a decision whether all nontrivial solutions are oscillatory or not. Our main theorems extend recent results in a serious of papers and are best possible for the oscillation of solutions in a sense. To accomplish our results, we use Sturm's comparison method and phase plane analysis of systems of Liénard type. We also explain an analogy between our results and an oscillation criterion of Kneser-Hille type for linear differential equations. 相似文献

The129I Mössbauer spectroscopy has been applied to iodine-doped highly conducting polyacetylene. For the unstretched polyacetylene films, the iodine species of I?, I 3 ? and I 5 ? are observed. The polyiodides have symmetrical charge population. In addition to these anions, a small amount of iodines is covalently bonding to the carbon atoms, breaking the double bonds of the main chain. For the stretched polyacetylene films, the measurements were done under the condition that the stretch direction was parallel or perpendicular to the direction of incident ψ-rays. The relative change of the intensities of the Mössbauer quadrupole-split lines reveals the alignment of the polyiodine anions in the stretched film. 相似文献

Three-component photopolymers comprising a photoacid generator, a bifunctional vinyl ether monomer and an aqueous base-soluble polymer as matrix were developed. These photopolymers exhibit either positive- or negative-working character, depending on the prebake temperature and the concentration of the photoacid generator. When the prebake temperature is high, the photo-polymer film is made insoluble in aqueous base and organic solvents by the formation of crosslinks. However, on exposure to light, the crosslinks are decoupled by the photogenerated acid and the photopolymer layer becomes again soluble in aqueous base, resulting in a positive-working character. When the concentration of the photoacid generator is low enough, the photopolymer has a negative-working character due to the cationic polymerization of vinyl ethers. The mechanism of the photochemical reaction of the photopolymers was investigated to elucidate the complicated behavior. 相似文献
