Regiospecific cycloaddition reactions using functionalized isoprenylsilane and related compounds

1-Alkoxy-3-trimethylsilylmethyl- and 1-alkoxy-3-trimethylsilyl-l,3-butadienes ($\text{1}$) were newly prepared. The cycloaddition reactions of $\text{1}$ with various dienophiles including heterodienophiles were found to proceed very smoothly in a perfectly regiospecific mode.     

Structurally Controlled Porphyrin-Aggregation Process in Phospholipid Membranes

Abstract— Structurally controlled aggregation course for five porphyrins (etioporphyrin [EP], 5-mono- and 5,15-di-[ p -tol-yl]etioporphyrin [TP and DTP], 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[ p -tol-y1]porphin [TTP], and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[3,5-di- tert -bu-tylphenyl]porphin [TBP]) in dipalmitoyl-phosphatidyl-choline liposomes has been monitored by fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy. While TBP shows no tendency to aggregate in liposomes, EP, TP, DTP and TTP form a porphyrin-enriched domain in membrane interior with time. The further aggregation steps within porphyrin clusters resulting in formation of stacked porphyrin aggregates have been observed for EP, TP and DTP.     

Novel uracil derivatives: newly synthesized centrally acting agents.

A series of 1-amino-5-substituted uracils and their 4-thio or 2,4-dithio substituted analogues were synthesized and assayed for anti-conflict activity in rats and anesthetic activity in mice. 1-Amino-5-halogenouracils 3b-e, 1-amino-4-thiouracil (9a), and 1-amino-5-halogeno-4-thiouracils 9c, d showed both anti-conflict and anesthetic activities. The most active compound was 1-amino-5-chloro-4-thiouracil (9d) which showed anxiolytic activity at 2 mg/kg of oral administration (p.o.) on a modified Geller-Seifter conflict schedule. Its minimum effective dose (MED) was lower than that of diazepam. The 50 percent effective dose (ED50) for anesthetic activity in mice of the compound (9d) was 32.9 mg/kg, p.o.     

Laser-pulse photocurrent transient measurements at oxygen evolving n-PtS2

Laser-pulse transient measurements have been performed at single crystalline n-PtS₂ electrodes with the aim of understanding light-induced hydroxide, oxide and oxygen formation. Different detected time constants permit the identification of distinct reaction products. They form surface states which function both as centers for recombination and charge accumulation in the interface. The rate constants determined are influenced by the RC-constant of the measuring circuit and can be interpreted only qualitatively. In the presence of recombination processes time constants faster than R_LC_SC are found. Evidence is given that the reaction step leading to oxygen evolution is dependent on the building-up of an electric field in the Helmholtz layer. This result may be of importance for the development of materials for the photoelectrolysis of water.     

Double percolation effect on the electrical conductivity of conductive particles filled polymer blends

Electrical conductivity of carbon black (CB) filled polymer blends which are incompatible with each other was studied as a function of the polymer's blend ratio. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis shows that CB distributes unevenly in each component of a polymer blend. TEM photographs of phase structure of solvent extracted HDPE/PMMA blend and solvent extraction experiments of PMMA/PP blend detect the blend ratio at which the structural continuity of filler rich phase is formed. The electrical conductivity of polymer blends is found to be determined by two factors. One is the concentration of CB in the filler rich phase and the other is the structural continuity of this phase. This double percolation affects the conductivity of conductive particle filled polymer blends.     

TUMOR IMAGING WITH [111niIn]MONO-DTPA-ETHYLENEGLYCOL-Ga-DEUTEROPORPHYRIN

Abstract Mono-DPTA-ethyleneglycol-Ga-deuteroporphyrin (MDEGD) was synthesized, by coordinating non-radioactive Ga in the porphyrin ring and connecting DTPA (diethylene-triamine-N,N,N,N,N,-pentaacetic acid) to its side chain. By labeling with 111_In, chemicals for scintigraphy were developed. They were applied to Syrian golden hamsters with implanted pancreatic gland cancers and C57-black mice with Lewis lung cancer to enable tumor imaging and biodistribution examination. A comparative study was also conducted with [⁶⁷Ga]citrate. In the resultant data, [¹¹¹In]MDEGD showed larger tumor/lung, tumor/kidney and tumor/blood ratio with [⁶⁷Ga]citrate. The affinity of [ⁿIn]MDEGD in inflammatory tissue was much lower than that of ⁶⁷Ga citrate. [¹¹¹In]MDEGD lost its photosensitivity.     

TUMOR-LOCALIZING FLUORESCENT DIAGNOSTIC AGENTS WITHOUT PHOTOTOXICITY

In order to develop tumor-localizing fluorescent diagnostic agents without phototoxicity, various heterodimers linked by some spacers between a chlorine derivative and its Mn or Cu complex were synthesized. The representative agent of them was named HAT-D01 and has a molecular formula of m -phthalyl-{[13,17-bispropanoic acid-3-ethenyl-8-formylethylidene-7-hydroxy-2,7,12,18-tetramethyl-porphyrinate]-manganese (III)}-[3'-ethenyl-8'-formylethylidene-7'-hydroxy-2',7', 12', 18'-tetramethyl-porphine-13', 17'-bispropanoyl aspartic acid]-bishydrazone.
