We have investigated the structural development during order-order transitions to the double-gyroid (DG) phase of nonionic surfactant/water systems based on two-dimensional small-angle x-ray scattering patterns from highly oriented ordered mesophases. The lamellar (L) to DG transition proceeds through two intermediate structures, a fluctuating perforated layer structure having ABAB stacking and a hexagonal perforated lamellar structure with ABCABC stacking (HPLABC). For a hexagonally packed cylinder (H) to DG transition, we also observed the HPLABC structure as the intermediate phase, thus the HPLABC is an entrance structure for the DG phase. The hexagonal perforated lamellar (HPL) structure consists of hexagonally packed holes surrounded by the planar tripods, and the transition from HPL structure to the DG phase proceeds by rotation of the dihedral angle of connected tripods. A geometrical consideration shows that large deformations of HPL planes are necessary to form the DG structure from the HPLABC structure, whereas the transition from a HPL structure with ABAB stacking (HPLAB) to the DG structure is straightforward. In spite of the topological constraints, the HPLABC structure is observed in the kinetic pathway to the DG structure. 相似文献

We have investigated the static and dynamic structures of nonionic surfactant micelles, a C(12)E(8)/water binary system, during the disorder-order transition using small angle x-ray scattering, static light scattering, and dynamic light scattering techniques. In the disordered phase, the micelles have spherical shape and intermicellar interactions are governed by the hard core and weak long ranged attractive potentials. With increase of the micellar concentration, the disordered micelles transform to the three characteristic ordered micellar phases, a hexagonally close packed lattice, a body centered cubic lattice, and an A15 lattice having area-minimizing structure. The stability of these phases is well explained by balance of a close packing rule and a minimal-area rule proposed by Ziherl and Kamien [Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 3528 (2000)]. The role of hydrodynamic interactions in surfactant micellar solutions was compared with that in hard sphere colloidal particle suspensions. 相似文献

Following removal of coordinated CH3CN, the resulting complexes [AgI(2,2′‐bipyridine)][BF4] ( 1 ) and [AgI(6,6′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine)][OTf] ( 2 ) show ethene/ethane sorption selectivities of 390 and 340, respectively, and corresponding ethene sorption capacities of 2.38 and 2.18 mmol g?1 when tested at an applied gas pressure of 90 kPa and a temperature of (20±1) °C. These ethene/ethane selectivities are 13 times higher than those reported for known solid sorbents for ethene/ethane separation. For 2 , ethene sorption reached 90 % of equilibrium capacity within 15 minutes, and this equilibrium capacity was maintained over the three sorption/desorption cycles tested. The rates of ethene sorption were also measured. To our knowledge, these are the first complexes, designed for olefin/paraffin separations, which have open silver(I) sites. The high selectivities arise from these open silver(I) sites and the relatively low molecular surface areas of the complexes. 相似文献

Pyridine–phenol alternating oligomers in which pyridine and phenol moieties are alternatingly linked through acetylene bonds at the 2,6‐positions of the aromatic rings were designed and synthesized. The pyridine nitrogen atom and the neighboring phenolic hydroxyl group were oriented so that they do not form an intramolecular hydrogen bond but cooperatively act as hydrogen‐bonding acceptor and donor in a push–pull fashion for the hydroxyl group of saccharides. The longer oligomer strongly bound to lipophilic glycosides in 1,2‐dichloroethane, and association constants approached 108 M ?1. Moreover, the oligomer extracted native saccharides from a solid phase to apolar organic solvents up to the extent of an equal amount of the oligomer and showed mannose‐dominant extraction among naturally abundant hexoses. The oligomer bound to native saccharides even in 20 % DMSO‐containing 1,2‐dichloroethane and exhibited association constants of greater than 10 M ?1 for D ‐mannose and D ‐glucose. 相似文献

Hexagonal molybdenum trioxide thin films with good crystallinity and high purity have been fabricated by the liquid phase deposition (LPD) technique using molybdic acid (H2MoO4) dissolved in 2.82% hydrofluoric acid (HF) and H3BO3 as precursors. The crystal was found to belong to a hexagonal hydrate system MoO3.nH2O (n~0.56). The unit cell lattice parameters are a=10.651 Å, c=3.725 Å and V=365.997 Å3. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the as-deposited samples showed well-shaped hexagonal rods nuclei that grew and where the amount increased with increase in reaction time. X-ray photon electron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra showed a Gaussian shape of the doublet of Mo 3d core level, indicating the presence of Mo6+ oxidation state in the deposited films. The deposited films exhibited an electrochromic behavior by lithium intercalation and deintercalation, which resulted in coloration and bleaching of the film. Upon dehydration at about 450 °C, the hexagonal MoO3.nH2O was transformed into the thermodynamically stable orthorhombic phase. 相似文献

Metabolite distribution imaging via imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) is an increasingly utilized tool in the field of neurochemistry. As most previous IMS studies analyzed the relative abundances of larger metabolite species, it is important to expand its application to smaller molecules, such as neurotransmitters. This study aimed to develop an IMS application to visualize neurotransmitter distribution in central nervous system tissue sections. Here, we raise two technical problems that must be resolved to achieve neurotransmitter imaging: (1) the lower concentrations of bioactive molecules, compared with those of membrane lipids, require higher sensitivity and/or signal-to-noise (S/N) ratios in signal detection, and (2) the molecular turnover of the neurotransmitters is rapid; thus, tissue preparation procedures should be performed carefully to minimize postmortem changes. We first evaluated intrinsic sensitivity and matrix interference using Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) to detect six neurotransmitters and chose acetylcholine (ACh) as a model for study. Next, we examined both single MS imaging and MS/MS imaging for ACh and found that via an ion transition from m/z 146 to m/z 87 in MS/MS imaging, ACh could be visualized with a high S/N ratio. Furthermore, we found that in situ freezing method of brain samples improved IMS data quality in terms of the number of effective pixels and the image contrast (i.e., the sensitivity and dynamic range). Therefore, by addressing the aforementioned problems, we demonstrated the tissue distribution of ACh, the most suitable molecular specimen for positive ion detection by IMS, to reveal its localization in central nervous system tissues. 相似文献

Characterization of the compound Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2) was studied using Li(+) ion attachment mass spectrometry (IAMS) as an analytical methodology. Since this target compound is used as an anticancer drug in the treatment of leukemia, accurate and rapid monitoring methods for the determination of titanium drugs in a hospital environment are desirable. A quadrupole mass spectrometry system along with a Li(+) ion attachment technique and a direct inlet probe (DIP) produced the Li(+) adduct of Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2), Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2)Li(+). The DIP also was used to study the temperature-resolved behavior of this compound. The slope of the plot of signal intensity of Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2)Li(+) versus temperature for Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2) sublimation from 60 to 100 °C was used to determine an apparent activation energy (E(a)) of 124.43 kJ/mol for the sublimation of Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2). This value is comparable to the reported value of 118.8 kJ/mol for molar enthalpy of sublimation of Ti(C(5)H(5))(2)Cl(2). These results demonstrate that the IAMS methodology can be used to study the enthalpy of sublimation for d-metal complex materials. 相似文献

The course of the enigmatic iterative use of a polyketide synthase module was deduced from targeted domain inactivation in the aureothin assembly line. Mutational analyses revealed that the N-terminus of AurA is not involved in the iteration process, ruling out an ACP-ACP shuttle. Furthermore, an AurA(KS°, ACP°)-AurA(AT(0)) heterodimer proved to be nonfunctional, whereas aureothin production was restored in a ΔaurA mutant complemented with AurA(KS°)-AurA(ACP°). This finding supports a model according to which the ACP-bound polyketide intermediate is transferred back to the KS domain on the opposite PKS strand. 相似文献

The reaction of Mn(III) salen-type complexes with di- and tetraanionic α-Keggin-type polyoxometalates (POMs) was performed, and three types of Coulombic aggregations containing Mn(III) out-of-plane dimeric units (abbreviated as [Mn(2)](2+)) that are potentially single-molecule magnets (SMMs) with an S(T) = 4 ground state were synthesized: [Mn(2)(5-MeOsaltmen)(2)(acetone)(2)][SW(12)O(40)] (1), [Mn(2)(salen)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2)[SiW(12)O(40)] (2), and [Mn(5-Brsaltmen)(H(2)O)(acetone)](2)[{Mn(2)(5-Brsaltmen)(2)}(SiW(12)O(40))] (3), where 5-Rsaltmen(2-) = N,N'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)bis(5-R-salicylideneiminate) with R = MeO (methoxy), Br (bromo) and salen(2-) = N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminate). Compound 1 with a dianionic POM, [SW(12)O(40)](2-), is composed of a 1:1 aggregating set of [Mn(2)](2+)/POM, and 2, with a tetraanionic POM, [SiW(12)O(40)](4-), is a 2:1 set. Compound 3 with [SiW(12)O(40)](4-) forms a unique 1D coordinating chain with a [-{Mn(2)}-POM-](2-) repeating unit, for which a hydrogen-bonded dimeric unit ([Mn(5-Brsaltmen)(H(2)O)(acetone)](2)(2+)) is present as a countercation. Independent of the formula ratio of [Mn(2)](2+)/POM, Mn(III) dimers and POM units in 1-3 form respective segregated columns along a direction of the unit cell, which make an alternate packing to separate evenly identical species in a crystal. The nearest intermolecular Mn···Mn distance is found in the order 2 < 3 < 1. The segregation of the [Mn(2)](2+) dimer resulted in interdimer distances long enough to effectively reduce the intermolecular magnetic interaction, in particular in 1 and 3. Consequently, an intrinsic property, SMM behavior, of Mn(III) dimers has been characterized in this system, even though the interdimer interactions are still crucial in the case of 2, where a long-range magnetic order competitively affects slow relaxation of the magnetization at low ac frequencies. 相似文献
