Photo‐capacitance spectroscopy investigation of deep‐level defects in AlGaN/GaN hetero‐structures with different current collapses

We have investigated electronic deep levels in two AlGaN/GaN hetero‐structures with different current collapses grown at 1150 and 1100 °C by a photo‐capacitance spectroscopy technique, using Schottky barrier diodes. Three specific deep levels located at ～2.07, ～2.80, and ～3.23 eV below the conduction band were found to be significantly enhanced for severe current collapse, being in reasonable agreement with photoluminescence and capacitance–voltage characteristics. These levels probably originate in Ga vacancies and residual C impurities and are probably responsible for the current collapse phenomena of the AlGaN/GaN hetero‐structures. Quasi-solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells using room temperature molten salts and a low molecular weight gelator

A dye-sensitized solar cell fabricated using the room temperature molten salt, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide, iodine and a low molecular weight gelator as a quasisolid-state electrolyte showed a 5.0% light-to-electricity conversion efficiency under AM 1.5 irradiation, and high-temperature stability.     

Influence of amino acid side chain packing on Fe-methionine coordination in thermostable cytochrome C

Paramagnetic NMR and optical studies of the oxidized forms of mesophile Pseudomonas aeruginosa cytochrome c(551) and its quintuple mutant (F7A/V13M/F34Y/E43Y/V78I), and thermophile Hydrogenobacter thermophilus cytochrome c(552) demonstrated that the amino acid side chain packings in the protein interior influence the coordination bond between the heme iron and the axial methionine in the proteins. The strength of heme axial coordinations was found to correlate with the overall protein thermostability.     

Preparation and separation of all possible rotamers of a stereochemical analog of meso-tartaric acid: optically inactive and optically active isomers of (R,S)-2,2′-bis(methoxycarbonyl)-6,6′-dimethyl-9,9′-bitriptycyl

All the three possible rotamers of the title compound were separated by chromatography, and unambiguously identified by NMR and X-ray analysis. One of the isomers was optically inactive C_i conformation. The other optical active forms were resolved to give a pair of enantiomers, which were characterized by optical rotation and CD spectra. Thus the optical inactivity of a compound such as meso-tartaric acid that can take C_i conformation in solution, is now ascribed to that the molecule has an optically inactive C_i conformer and equal amounts of optically active conformers, that are enantiomers, in solution.     

含巯基/二硫键聚合物生物材料

含巯基/二硫键聚合物生物材料具有多种良好的性能,作为药物、基因等的释放载体在生物医学领域具有广泛的应用前景。随着基因工程和组织工程的发展,含巯基/二硫键聚合物生物材料的可生物降解性得到高度重视,而怎样改善其降解性能成为限制其应用的关键因素。由于二硫键在细胞外环境里保持稳定,在细胞溶质的还原环境中容易发生断裂,因此在制备新型基因、药物等释放载体上,二硫键充当了重要的角色,它的引入为聚合物生物材料的生物降解性能的设计与改善提供了一条重要的途径。本综述重点以聚合物水凝胶、聚合物微胶束、囊泡等为例,从巯基/烯的光聚合反应、Michael加成反应、氧化还原反应的角度,介绍了巯基/烯在聚合物中形成二硫键的不同途径的研究进展,并详细论述了基因载体、蛋白质载体、小分子药物载体三种还原敏感型材料的制备、表面修饰和改性的进展情况,进一步强调含巯基/二硫键聚合物生物材料的研究在生物医学领域应用的重要性。     

Novel synthesis of carbapenam by intramolecular attack of lactam nitrogen toward eta1-allenyl and eta3-propargylpalladium complex

When a THF solution of beta-lactam having propargyl phosphate was warmed in the presence of 5 mol % of Pd(2)(dba)(3) x CHCl(3), 20 mol % of a bidentate ligand, and sodium acetate (1.5 equiv) at 40 degrees C for 22 h, carbapenam was produced in high yield. In this reaction, the lactam nitrogen attacked the central carbon of a eta(3)-propargylpalladium complex, which was formed from propargyl phosphate and Pd(0).     

Synthesis of trans-fused polycyclic ethers with angular methyl groups using sulfonyl-stabilized oxiranyl anions

An efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of trans-fused tetrahydropyrans with angular methyl groups adjacent to the ring oxygen. The procedure involves the coupling reaction of a sulfonyl-stabilized oxiranyl anion with an appropriate triflate followed by 6-endo cyclization, and is effective for the construction of 6/6- and 6/7/6-cyclic ether ring systems with sterically congested 1,3-diaxial methyl groups.     

Importance of the isopropylidene terminal of geranylgeranyl group for the formation of tetraether lipid in methanogenic archaea

Labeling experiments using several deuterated lipids were pursued to study the biosynthesis of macrocyclic isoprenoidal lipids of thermophilic methanogenic archaea, Methanothermobacter thermautotrophicus. The isopropylidene terminal of geranylgeranyl group of monomeric precursor appeared to be important for the CC bond formation at the hydrophobic end in the macrocyclic lipids. A mechanism involving a radical trigger at the allylic methyl group is proposed for this CC bond formation.
