Size distribution measurements and classification tests by a low pressure differential mobility analyzer (LPDMA) for nanometer-sized silver particles and cesium iodide particles under low pressure conditions (123–300 Torr) were performed using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) and the tandem DMA technique. When the ratio of the sheath gas flow rate and the aerosol gas flow rate was set at 5 : 1, the targeted sizes calculated from the classification voltage applied to the LPDMA at 160 Torr are found to be in good correlation with the count mean Feret diameter obtained from the TEM observation of the particles collected after a classification ranging from 6 to 25 nm, although the targeted sizes set by the LPDMA were approximately 15% greater than the count mean Feret diameter measured by the TEM after classification. The geometric standard deviations of DMA-classified particles measured by TEM and those obtained from the tandem DMA method ranged from 1.08 to 1.17 and from 1.05 to 1.13, respectively. They were slightly greater than the ideal geometric standard deviations (1.05) of the particles classified with the LPDMA, which was calculated by neglecting the broadening effects due to Brownian diffusion. CRT monitors are widely used to view images on the Internet. The color images on the computer graphic display can be printed out or displayed on other monitors through the Internet, and color matching between the original and the reproduction is very important. The color management systems (CMSs) are useful for the color matching. CMSs utilize device profiles, in which color characteristic information is stored, and these profiles are generated by device characterization. Thus, an accurate characterization of the monitor is essential for better color matching. CRT monitor characteristics can be described by the tone reproduction curves (TRCs) of each channel, and color additive matrix. In this paper, these characteristics were investigated from a physical point of view. Various kinds of flare and the interdependence among the channels were also investigated and verified. The definition of the term “gamma” is clarified, which is very often used to describe the TRC. Various definitions are compared and a new definition of S-γ is proposed. 相似文献

Colloidal dispersions of C60 and C70 were prepared by simply mixing a fullerene solution in a good solvent with a poor polar organic solvent for fullerenes. The process was very easy and fast and the formation of particles with average diameter in the colloidal range was detected immediately after the components were mixed. The formation and the properties of the fullerene particles were studied mainly with dynamic light scattering and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The most interesting findings are the long-term colloid stability of the samples in the absence of any stabilizers, the relatively narrow size distribution, and the different average sizes of the particles formed by C60, C70, and their mixtures. The influence of various factors such as fullerene concentration, mixing procedure, solvent properties, and C60/C70 ratio was investigated. It is shown that the smaller particles are formed when the total fullerene concentration in the good solvent is decreased and that the fullerene particles have crystalline structure. The measured negative values for the electrophoretic mobility of the particles suggest that fullerene dispersions in polar organic solvents are stabilized by repulsive electrostatic interactions. 相似文献

Since poly(lactic acid) is the biodegradable polyester having low immunogenicity and good biocompatibility, it is utilized as a medical material. However, poly(lactic acid) is a water-insoluble crystalline polymer having no reactive side-chain group. Thus, the use of poly(lactic acid) is limited. To modify the properties of poly(lactic acid) and to introduce the functionalized pendant groups to poly(lactic acid), we synthesized two kinds of lactic acid-depsipeptide copolymers with reactive pendant groups, namely poly[LA-(Glc-Lys)] and poly[LA-(Glc-Asp)]. This was done through ring-opening copolymerizations of L-lactide with the corresponding protected cyclodepsipeptides, cyclo[Glc-Lys(Z)] and cyclo[Glc-Asp(OBzl)], and subsequent deprotection of benzyloxycarbonyl and benzyl groups, respectively. In this study, we attempted to control the timing of light-emission from bioluminescent bacteria, by changed cell numbers inoculated into medium. Luminous bacteria express bioluminescence when the number of cells reached a threshold. Inoculated cell density had an effect on the time of bioluminescence starting. Samples were prepared by varying cell density of inoculation. In the results, all the vials showed different luminescence profiles in the order of inoculated cell population. 相似文献

A distributed-feedback dye laser with a quenching cavity was designed and constructed for generating a tunable picosecond pulse with a narrow spectral linewidth. This nearly transform-limited pulse was succeedingly amplified by a triple-pass off-axis amplifier. The pulse duration and the spectral linewidth were 60 ps and 9.4 pm, respectively. The amplified pulse was frequency-doubled by second-harmonic generation, producing a 0.5-mJ pulse with no background emission. The potential advantage of this laser in the analysis of dioxin based on supersonic jet/resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization/mass spectrometry is discussed. 相似文献

Thallusin is the only known natural product that induces cell differentiation followed by formation of a thallus during the growth of green macroalgae such as Monostroma and Ulva.
