Change in the Rheological Properties of Oil Disperse Systems upon a Vibrational Treatment

The effect of a vibrational treatment on the rheological properties of highly structured oil disperse systems is studied. A maximal decrease in the rheological parameters is observed after 20-min vibrational treatment for paraffin-rich and highly resinous oils and after 5-min treatment for mazut. The vibrational treatment is shown to be the most effective for oils with an increased content of paraffins. It is revealed that the magnetic treatment decreases the congelation temperature of oil.

Establishment of the configuration of derivatives of 2Z-butene-1,4-diol by1H NMR spectroscopy

¹H NMR spectroscopy and the PANIC program for obtaining calculated spectra were used to show that the Z-configuration of the C=C bond is retained in the conversions of 2Z-butene-1,4-diol to the corresponding monobromide and monochloride and in the reaction of this monobromide with amylmagnesium bromide in the presence of the Kochi reagent (Li₂CuCl₄) and with the tert-butylimine of acetaldehyde.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 5, pp. 1180–1182, May, 1990.     

Reaction of α-halo- and α,α-dihalo-β-oxoaldehydes witho- andm-phenylenediamines

α-Halo-β-oxoaldehydes react witho-andm-phenylenediamines to give α-halo-β-oxoenamines. In the case ofo-phenylenediamine, the initially formed monoenamine undergoes concurrent intramolecular cyclization to give benzimidazole and a halocarbonyl compound. α,α-Dihalo-β-oxoaldehydes react witho-andm-phenylenediamines according to the haloformic decomposition scheme involving formylation of amino groups. Investigation of neoascorbigen

The synthesis of N-methoxyascorbigen (neoascorbigen) — a natural substance from plants of the Cruciferae family — and also N-ethoxyascorbigen is described. In an acidic media under drastic conditions N-alkoxyascorbigens undergo transformations with the release of ascorbic acid and the formation of oligomers of 1-alkoxy-3-methyleneindolenine or with opening of the lactone ring, decarboxylation, and dehydration and the formation of 2-hydroxy-3-(1-alkoxy-3-indolyl)-4-hydroxymethylcyclopent-2-enone.
