Synthesis and magnetic properties of multilayer Ni/Cu and NiFe/Cu nanowires

Highly ordered composite nanowires with multilayer Ni/Cu and NiFe/Cu have been fabricated by pulsed electrodeposition into nanoporous alumina membrane. The diameter of wires can be easily varied by pore size of alumina, ranging from 30 to 100 nm. The applied potential and the duration of each potential square pulse determine the thickness of the metal layers. The nanowires have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetic force microscopy (MFM), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurements. The MFM images indicate that every ferromagnetic layer separated by Cu layer was present as single isolated domain-like magnet. This technique has potential use in the measurement and application of magnetic nanodevices.

On a micro‐macro model for polymeric fluids near equilibrium

In this paper, we study a micro‐macro model for polymeric fluid. The system involves coupling between the macroscopic momentum equation and a microscopic evolution equation describing the combined effects of the microscopic potential and thermofluctuation. We employ an energetic variation procedure to explore the relation between the macroscopic transport of the particles and the induced elastic stress due to the microscopic structure. For the initial data not far from the equilibrium, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of classical solutions to the system. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

Solvothermal synthesis of TiO2: anatase nanocrystals and rutile nanofibres from TiCl4 in acetone

This work reports a new synthetic approach for single‐phase TiO₂ nanomaterials by solvothermal treatment of titanium tetrachloride in acetone at 80–110 °C. Small, uniform, and yet size‐tunable (5–10 nm) anatase titania nanocrystallites were obtained using a low concentration of TiCl₄ in acetone (i.e., at molar ratios of TiCl₄/acetone ≤ 1:15) in the temperature range of 80–110 °C, while rutile nanofibers were synthesized using a high concentration of TiCl₄ (e.g., TiCl₄/acetone = 1:10) at 110 °C. Acute Triangulations of Flat Mobius Strips

In this paper we investigate the acute triangulations of flat Mobius strips. We find out that we can always triangulate a flat Mobius strip with at most nine acute triangles, and sometimes (but not always) that many triangles are really needed.     

Concentration factors for functions with harmonic bounded mean variation

We discuss determination of jumps for functions with generalized bounded variation. The questions are motivated by A. Gelb and E. Tadmor [1], F. Móricz [5] and [6] and Q. L. Shi and X. L. Shi [7]. THE DIMENSION FOR RANDOM SUB-SELF-SIMILAR SET

In this article,the Hausdorff dimension and exact Hausdorff measure function of any random sub-self-similar set are obtained under some reasonable conditions.Several examples are given at the end.
