In this work, we synthesized two MDI-based polyurethanes, including a poly(ether)urethane (PEU) and a poly(carbonate)urethane (PCU), by using different soft segments, poly(tetramethylene oxide) and poly(hexyl, ethyl)carbonate diol (M approximately 2,000). We demonstrated that, in addition to the enhanced biostability of PCU over PEU, the biological performances of PCU in vitro were also improved in general. These included, better cellular attachment and proliferation, less platelet activation, as well as reduced monocyte activation. The unusual wide-ranging enhancement in biocompatibility for PCU was believed to be related to the larger micro-phase separation in PCU (approximately 25 nm) that caused distinct protein adsorption on the surface. The total number of adherent monocytes (nonactivated and activated) on the bare sample surfaces, albumin pre-adsorbed sample surfaces, and fibrinogen pre-adsorbed sample surfaces.  相似文献

In this study, a rapid and sensitive method is described for the catecholamines detection in rat brain. CE with LIF detection for the determination of FITC derivatized catecholamines (dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine) was demonstrated. Conventional water bath and microwave‐assisted derivatization methods were employed and a significant reduction in the derivatization time from 2 h for the conventional water bath at room temperature (ca. 25°C) to 2 min for the microwave‐assisted derivatization was achieved. Online sample concentration of field‐amplified sample stacking (FASS) method was employed to achieve higher sensitivities (the detection limits obtained in the normal injection mode ranged from 2.6 to 4.5 ng L?1 and in the FASS mode ranged from 22 to 34 pg L?1). Furthermore, this microwave‐assisted derivatization CE–LIF method successfully determined catecholamines in rat brain with as low as 100 ng L?1 (FASS mode) to 10 μg L?1 (normal injection mode). This CE–LIF method provided better detection ability when compared to the best reports on catecholamines analyses.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectroscopy is a fast, highly sensitive technique for investigating protein‐ligand interactions. Intrinsic protein fluorescence is usually occurred by exciting the proteins with 280‐295 nm ultraviolet light, and the light emission is observed approximately between 330‐350 nm. No emission light between 330‐350 nm can be observed when adenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl) is excited at 282 nm. The binding of AdoCbl to glutamate mutase was therefore investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy in this study. Our results show that direct measurement for determining the Kd of AdoCbl by fluorescence spectroscopy leads to significant errors. Here we report the source of error and a corrected method for measuring the binding of coenzyme B12 to glutamate mutase using fluorescence spectroscopy.  相似文献

The electric conduction in the fibrous medium constructed by a homogeneous array of parallel, identical, charged, circular cylinders having an arbitrary zeta potential filled with the solution of a symmetrically charged electrolyte is analytically examined. The thickness of the electric double layers surrounding the dielectric cylinders is assumed to be small relative to the radius of each cylinder and to the gap width between two neighboring cylinders, but the polarization of the mobile ions in the diffuse layers is allowed. The effect of interactions among individual cylinders is taken into explicit account by employing a unit cell model. The appropriate equations of conservation of electrochemical potential energies of ionic species are solved for each cell, in which a cylinder is envisaged to be surrounded by a coaxial cylindrical shell of the fluid solution. Analytical expressions for the effective electric conductivity are obtained in closed forms as functions of the porosity of the fiber matrix and other characteristics of the porous system. Comparisons of the results of the cell model with different conditions at the outer boundary of the cell are made. Under an otherwise identical condition, the electric conductivity in a porous medium composed of an array of parallel cylinders in the transverse direction is smaller than that of a suspension of spheres. The effect of interactions among the cylinders or spheres on the effective conductivity can be quite significant under appropriate conditions.  相似文献

Ca-montmorillonite (Ca-Mont) was exchanged with two quaternary amines, tetramethylammonium (TMA) chloride and hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA) bromide, to study the surfactant ion exchange effect on the pore structure, surface characteristics, and adsorption properties of montmorillonite. The revolution of both the surface area and pore structure of montmorillonite was characterized based on classical and fractal analyses of the nitrogen isotherms as well as the XRD patterns. The change of surface characteristics was identified from FTIR patterns and zeta-potential plots. The adsorption isotherms of acid dye, Amido Naphthol Red G (AR1), were then measured to identify the effects of the ion-exchange process on the adsorption properties of montmorillonite. It was found that the exchange processes might induce an increase or decrease in the surface area, pore size, pore volume, and surface fractal dimension D of montmorillonite, depending on the size, the molecular arrangement, and the degree of hydration of the exchanged ion in the clay. On the other hand, it was also found that the hydrophobic bonding by conglomeration of large C(16) alkyl groups associated with HDTMA could cause positive charge development on the surface of montmorillonite, which was not observed for TMA-modified montmorillonite (TMM). The effects of the alteration of the surface characteristics of montmorillonites on their adsorption selectivity for acid dye were discussed.  相似文献

Boundary effects on the electrophoretic behavior of a charged entity are of both fundamental and practical significance. Here, they are examined by considering the case where a sphere is at an arbitrary position in a spherical cavity under conditions of low surface potential and weak applied electrical field. Previous analyses are extended to the case of a non-Newtonian fluid, and a Carreau model is adopted for this purpose. The effects of key parameters such as the thickness of a double layer, the relative sizes of particle and cavity, the position of a particle, and the nature of a fluid on the electrophoretic mobility of a particle are discussed. Several interesting phenomena are observed. For example, if the applied electric field points toward north, the mobility of a particle has a local maximum when it is at the center of a cavity. However, if a particle is sufficiently close to the north pole of a cavity, its mobility exhibits a local minimum as its position varies. This does not occur when the particle is close to the south pole of the cavity; instead, it may move in the direction opposite to that of the applied electric field. For a Newtonian fluid, if a particle is close to the north pole of a cavity, its upward movement yields a clockwise (counterclockwise) vortex near the north pole of the cavity and a counterclockwise (clockwise) vortex near the south pole of the cavity on its right (left)-hand side. The latter is not observed for a Carreau fluid.  相似文献

The structure of self-assembled monolayers ofp-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid and the mixed monolayers of this acid with n-hexadecanoic acid on silver surface were studied by reflection-IR spectroscopy, near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) measurement, X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (X-PEEM), and atomic force microscopy. Exposure of the p-terphenyl-4-carboxylate monolayer to H2S vapor resulted in reorganization of the film structure into clusters of the corresponding free acids, in tens of nanometer dimension. Exposure of the mixed monolayer to H2S resulted in reorganization of the mixed monolayer film into phase-separated clusters of respective component molecules. The saturated aliphatic acid formed clusters of submicrometer size, whereas the p-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid formed clusters of tens of nanometer size, presumably due to different surface mobility and/or intermolecular interaction of the two types of molecule. Restoration of the monolayer film from the clusters, driven by the reaction between the free acid molecules and the basic surface sites, proceeded at different speeds for the two types of molecules. The saturated acid monolayer was restored much faster than the p-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid monolayer. A domain-separated monolayer in several micrometers scale was obtained. The process was imaged by tapping mode atomic force microscopy.  相似文献

Aluminum oxynitride films were deposited by ion beam sputtering technique at room temperature. The optical properties and morphologies of the aluminum oxynitride films were studied and reported previously. It was found that the optical properties are closely related to the O contents in the films. In this study, the structures of the films were investigated by X‐ray diffractometer and XPS. Three oxidation states of N1s in oxynitride films, N+, N2+ and N3+, were clearly deduced from N1s spectra in the amorphous films fabricated under various oxygen partial pressures (PO2). To our knowledge, three oxidation states of N1s have not been simultaneously observed and reported in the aluminum oxynitride films previously. Corresponding bonding variations in Al2p and O1s spectra indicated more oxygen in oxynitride in the film as PO2 increases. Three aluminum oxynitride networks, AlO2N, AlO2.5N and AlO3N were deduced. Optical properties of aluminum oxynitride films resemble those of AlN and Al2O3 films when PO2 is low and high during the deposition. The refractive indices and extinction coefficients of the aluminum oxynitride films can be adjusted by using proper PO2 during the film depositions. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Rotational analyses have been carried out at high resolution for the 000-000 and 000-100 bands of the A (1)Pi(u)-X (1)Sigma(g) (+) transition of supersonic jet-cooled C(3). Two different spectra have been recorded for each band, using time gatings of 20-150 and 800-2300 ns. At the shorter time delay the spectra show only the lines observed by many previous workers. At the longer time delay many extra lines appear, some of which have been observed previously by [McCall et al.Chem. Phys. Lett. 374, 583 (2003)] in cavity ring-down spectra of jet-cooled C(3). Detailed analysis of these extra lines shows that at least two long-lived states perturb the A (1)Pi(u), 000 state. One of these appears to be a (3)Sigma(u) (-) vibronic state, which may possibly be a high vibrational level of the b (3)Pi(g) state, and the other appears to be a P = 1 state with a low rotational constant B. Our spectra also confirm the reassignment by McCall et al. of the R(0) line of the 000-000 band, which is consistent with the spectra recorded towards a number of stars that indicate the presence of C(3) in the interstellar medium. Fluorescence lifetimes have been measured for a number of upper-state rotational levels. The rotational levels of the A (1)Pi(u) state have lifetimes in the range of 230-190 ns, decreasing slightly with J; the levels of the perturbing states have much longer lifetimes, with some of them showing biexponential decays. An improved value has been obtained for the nu(1) vibrational frequency of the ground state, nu(1) = 1224.4933 +/- 0.0029 cm(-1).  相似文献
