The study of turbulence in theta-pinch plasma with azimuthal magnetic field

It has been demonstrated that a small-scale drift instability occurs in a theta-pinch with a superimposed azimuthal magnetic field, subsequently resulting in turbulization of oscillations andheating of the plasma. The data obtained agree well with the available theoretical models.     

Experimental upper limits for hadronic and axion decays of the γ(1S)

A search for the decays γ→ρπ, γ→J/ψX and γ→γa (whereX is undetermined and a is an axion) has been completed using the LENA detector at the DORIS storage ring. No evidence for any of these processes was found. For these decay modes we set branching fraction upper limits (90% C.L.) of 2.1×10^?3, 2.0×10^?2 and 9.1×10^?4, respectively.

The synthesis of two new heterocycles is described: pyrido-[2,3-d]-.s-triazolo[ 3,4-f] pyrimidine and pyrido[3,2-d]-.s-triayzolo-[3,4-f] pyrimidine. 4-[I'-Pyrazolyl]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines and 4-[1′-pyrazoly1] pyrido[ 3,2-d] pyrimidine are obtained by the action of 4-hydrazinopyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine and 4-hydrazinopyrido-[3,2-d]pyrimidine with several β-diketones.

Entropy solutions of anisotropic elliptic nonlinear obstacle problem with measure data

We prove the existence of an entropy solution for a class of nonlinear anisotropic elliptic unilateral problem associated to the following equation $$\begin{aligned} -\sum _{i=1}^{N} \partial _i a_i(x,u, \nabla u) -\sum _{i=1}^{N}\partial _{i}\phi _{i}( u)=\mu , \end{aligned}$$where the right hand side $$\mu $$ belongs to $$L^{1}(\Omega )+ W^{-1, \vec {p'}}(\Omega )$$. The operator $$-\sum _{i=1}^{N} \partial _i a_i(x,u, \nabla u) $$ is a Leray–Lions anisotropic operator and $$\phi _{i} \in C^{0}({\mathbb {R}}, {\mathbb {R}})$$.     

Effect of Phosphorus-Nitrogen Intumescent Flame Retardant on Structure and Properties of Poly(propylene)

Summary : Phosphorus-nitrogen intumescent product (R₂₀₀₀) was filled into polypropylene (PP) as a flame retardant. The neat PP and flame-retarded PP blends were studied for their structural and mechanical properties after verification of the flame retardancy character of blends. In this paper, the influence of incorporation of different amount (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) of R₂₀₀₀ was studied. The flame retardancy is evaluated by limiting oxygen index (LOI) value, which is enhanced from 17.5 for pure PP to 22.7 for the blend comprising 15% intumescent product, phosphorus-nitrogen based (R₂₀₀₀). The thermal degradation behaviour of the PP/R₂₀₀₀ blends was investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) under nitrogen (N₂) and oxygen (O₂) atmospheres. The influence of the R₂₀₀₀ on the PP crystallization was examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Further, the mechanical properties of the materials were studied by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The incorporation of the flame retardant had no effect on the crystallization of the neat polymer and the mechanical properties of the materials remained unaffected.     

The de Schipper formula and squares of Riesz spaces

In this paper we introduce and study the square mean and the geometric mean in Riesz spaces. We prove that every geometric mean closed Riesz space is square mean closed and give a counterexample to the converse. We define for positive a, b in a square mean closed Riesz space E an addition via the formulaab=sup {(cos x)a + (sin x)b: 0 x 2π},which goes back to a formula by de Schipper. In case that E is geometric mean closed this turns the mldeflying set of the positive cone of E into a lattice ordered semigroup, which in turn is the positive cone ofa Riesz space E^□. We prove, under the additional condition that E is geometric mean closed, that E^□ is Riesz isomorphic to the square of E as introduced earlier by Buskes and van Rooij.     

Stabilization of the uniform Timoshenko beam by one locally distributed feedback

In this article, we study the energy decay rate for an elastic Timoshenko system. This system consists of two coupled wave equations. Only the equation about the rotation angle is damped by one locally distributed feedback at the neighbourhood of the boundary. The equation for the transverse displacement of the beam is only indirectly damped through the coupling. First, we establish an exponential energy decay rate in the case of the same speed of propagation. Next, when the wave speeds are different, a polynomial-type decay rate is obtained. These results are proved by verifying the frequency domain conditions.
