As part of developmental research for an inquiry-oriented differential equations course, this study investigates the change in students’ beliefs about mathematics. The discourse analysis has identified two different types of perspective modes - i.e., discourse of the third-person perspective and discourse of the first-person perspective - in the students’ mathematical narratives, depending on their ways of positioning themselves with respect to mathematics. In the third-person perspective discourse, the students positioned themselves as passive recipients of mathematics that has been established by some external authority. In the first-person perspective discourse, the students positioned themselves as active mathematical inquirers and produced mathematics by interweaving their own mathematical ideas and experiences. Over the semester, students’ mathematical discourse changed from third-person perspective narratives to first-person perspective narratives. This change in their discourse pattern is interpreted as an indication of change in their beliefs about mathematics. The purpose of this research was to understand how one teacher reflected on different classroom situations and to understand whether the teacher's approach to these reflections changed over time. For the purposes of this study, we considered reflection as the teacher's act of interpreting her own practices and students' thinking to make sense of student understanding and how teaching might relate to that understanding. We investigated a middle school mathematics teacher's reflection on her students while watching videotapes of her classroom and categorized the reflection as Assess, Interpret, Describe, Justify, and Extend. The results show a higher percentage of Extend instances in later interviews than in earlier ones indicating the teacher's increasing attention to her own teaching in how her students developed their understanding. In addition, her reflection became clearer and better integrated as defined by the Cohen and Ball's triangle of interactions. 相似文献

We have experimentally investigated the density of states (DOS) in Nb/Ni (S/F) bilayers as a function of Ni thickness, d(F). Our thinnest samples show the usual DOS peak at +/- Delta(0), whereas intermediate-thickness samples have an anomalous "double-peak" structure. For thicker samples (d(F) > or =3.5 nm), we see an inverted DOS, which has previously only been reported in superconductor or weak-ferromagnet structures. We analyze the data using the self-consistent nonlinear Usadel equation and find that we are able to quantitatively fit the features at +/- Delta(0) -- in particular the thickness at which the inversion occurs -- only if we include a large amount of spin-orbit scattering in the model. Interestingly, we are unable to reproduce the subgap structure through the addition of any parameter(s). Therefore, the observed anomalous subgap structure represents new physics beyond that contained in the present Usadel theory. 相似文献

The quasi-elastic scattering angular distribution of the proton drip line nucleus 17F on a 12C target was measured at 60 MeV. The experimental data have been compared with the theoretical analysis based onto optical model and continuum discretized coupled channels (CDCC). The couplings between breakup and elastic scattering channels, and between inelastic and elastic scattering channels resulted very weak. In order to explore the breakup effects the total reaction cross-section was deduced from the angular distribution of the quasi-elastic scattering data, and then compared with the existing data for the other weakly and tightly bound nuclei on 12C target using a universal function. From this comparison, we concluded that the breakup effect is not important for weakly bound projectiles on the light target as obtained also with the CDCC analysis. 相似文献

ZnO–SnO2 branch–stem nanostructures were realized on a basis of a two-step process. In step 1, SnO2-stem nanowires were synthesized. In step 2, ZnO-branch nanowires were successfully grown on the SnO2-stem nanowires through a simple evaporation technique. We have pre-deposited thin Au layers on the surface of SnO2 nanowire stems and subsequently evaporated Zn powders on the nanowires. The ZnO branches, which sprouted from the SnO2 stems, had diameters in a range of 30–35 nm. As-synthesized branches were of single crystalline hexagonal ZnO structures. Since the branch tips were comprised of Au-containing nanoparticles, the Au-catalyzed vapor–liquid–solid growth mechanism was more likely to control the growth process of the ZnO branches. To test a potential use of ZnO–SnO2 branch–stem nanostructures in chemical gas sensors, their sensing performances with respect to NO2 gas were investigated, showing the promising potential in chemical gas sensors. 相似文献

Lead-free non-stoichiometric (K0.470Na0.545)(Nb0.55Ta0.45)O3 (KNNT) textured ceramics were prepared by a reactive templated grain growth method using NaNbO3 (NN) templates. The Plate-like NaNbO3 (NN) templates were synthesized from bismuth layer-structured Bi2.5Na3.5Nb5O18 (BNN) particles by a topochemical microcrystal conversion (TMC) method. Using 5 wt% of NN templates, textured KNNT ceramics were fabricated, and their crystal structure, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were compared with non-textured KNNT ceramics prepared by a conventional solid state reaction method. The textured KNNT ceramics exhibited high grain orientation and high dielectric constant. In addition, piezoelectric properties of textured KNNT ceramics were improved, giving a high piezoelectric coefficient d33 = 390 pC/N and piezoelectric coupling coefficient kp = 0.60. 相似文献

We study the effect of the topology of industrial relationship (IR) between the companies in a stock exchange market on the universal features in the market. For this we propose a stochastic model for stock exchange markets based on the behavior of technical traders. From the numerical simulations we measure the return distribution, P(R), and the autocorrelation function of the volatility, C(T), and find that the observed universal features in real financial markets are originated from the heterogeneity of IR network topology. Moreover, the heterogeneous IR topology can also explain Zipf–Pareto’s law for the distribution of market value of equity in the real stock exchange markets. 相似文献

Electrical properties of piezoelectric thick films with controlled microstructure were investigated. In order to enhance the
electromechanical properties (e.g. d31, d33) of a thick film by control of its microstructure, a mixed powder, referred to as BNP, consisting of both nano-sized and
micro-sized piezoelectric particles, was employed as a starting precursor in the film fabrication process. According to a
scanning electron microscopy study, it is shown that a BNP thick film exhibits the densest homogeneous microstructures. According
to surface area measurements, the BNP thick film was sufficiently densified without an additional infiltration process of
Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3 sol for densification. The screen-printed BNP thick film possesses a dielectric constant and a remanent polarization much
higher than those of a thick film composed of only micro-sized piezoelectric particles by a factor of more than two. This
suggests the potential application of the BNP thick film, in conjunction with a silicon substrate, to a micromachined monolithic
PZT thick film device on the silicon substrate.

Comodulation masking release (CMR) refers to an improvement in the detection threshold of a signal masked by noise with coherent amplitude fluctuation across frequency, as compared to noise without the envelope coherence. The present study tested whether such an advantage for signal detection would facilitate the identification of speech phonemes. Consonant identification of bandpass speech was measured under the following three masker conditions: (1) a single band of noise in the speech band ("on-frequency" masker); (2) two bands of noise, one in the on-frequency band and the other in the "flanking band," with coherence of temporal envelope fluctuation between the two bands (comodulation); and (3) two bands of noise (on-frequency band and flanking band), without the coherence of the envelopes (noncomodulation). A pilot experiment with a small number of consonant tokens was followed by the main experiment with 12 consonants and the following masking conditions: three frequency locations of the flanking band and two masker levels. Results showed that in all conditions, the comodulation condition provided higher identification scores than the noncomodulation condition, and the difference in score was 3.5% on average. No significant difference was observed between the on-frequency only condition and the comodulation condition, i.e., an "unmasking" effect by the addition of a comodulated flaking band was not observed. The positive effect of CMR on consonant recognition found in the present study endorses a "cued-listening" theory, rather than an envelope correlation theory, as a basis of CMR in a suprathreshold task. 相似文献
