Unprecedented coloration of rutile titanium dioxide nanocrystalline thin films

In this communication, TiO2 nanocrystalline thin films synthesized by a room temperature (27 degrees C) chemical dip process. To our knowledge, this is first report of the preparation of nanoscale rutile TiO2 particles from common inorganic salt at such low temperature. Interestingly, unprecedented dynamic color change accompanies with titanium dioxide grain size, which can be seen with the naked eye that generated curiosity in our mind to check UV-vis absorption, where significant changes were observed. The room temperature synthesized thin films of rutile titanium dioxide make it a potential candidate for high-compatibility material, which can be used in artificial heart valves.     

Minimal Bosonization of Supersymmetry with ‐graded Parity

In this paper we consider the ‐graded parity generalizing the ordinary (or Z₂‐graded ) parity. Using the ‐graded parity operator, we discuss the minimal bosonization of the N=2 SUSY with ‐graded parity. The lowest energy level is shown to be infinitely degenerate. In order to avoid the infinite degeneracy of the ground state we introduce the paraboson algebra to obtain the para‐supersymmetry. Finally, we discuss the hidden SUSY with Z₃‐graded parity.     

New q‐Hermite polynomials: characterization,operators algebra and associated coherent states

This paper addresses a construction of new q‐Hermite polynomials with a full characterization of their main properties and corresponding raising and lowering operator algebra. The three‐term recursive relation as well as the second‐order differential equation obeyed by these new polynomials are explicitly derived. Relevant operator actions, including the eigenvalue problem of the deformed oscillator and the self‐adjointness of the related position and momentum operators, are investigated and analyzed. The associated coherent states are constructed and discussed with an explicit resolution of the induced moment problem. The phase collapse in a q‐deformed boson system is studied.     

Rapid screening and determination of nerve agent metabolites in human urine by LC-MS/MS

Qualitative screening procedures have been developed for the rapid detection and identification of the metabolites of nerve agents in the urine samples and extracts using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The combination of negative electrospray ionization (ESI) using a C₁₈ column and water-methanol mobile phase modified with ammonium formate provides a rapid screening procedure for nerve agent degradation products with limit of detection of 1 ng/mL in the precursor-ion analysis. Also, determination of the alkyl methylphosphonic acids was carried out by the SRM scan mode with the limit of detection of 0.1 ng/mL. These procedures will be applicable to the trace analysis of metabolites of nerve agents in human urine matrices in the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) proficiency test.     

Iodonium Metathesis Reactions

A metathesis reaction occurs when a diaryliodonium triflate is heated with an aryl iodide, resulting in the formation of a new diaryliodonium triflate.     

Polymerization of 2,4-hexadiyn-1,6-diol by chemical vapor deposition

2,4-Hexadiyn-1,6-diol (HDO) was polymerized on glass and silicon plates by chemical vapor deposition without transition metal catalysis to form homogeneous thin films. Structural properties of the films were investigated by FT-IR, UV-visible, Raman, x-ray diffraction, and XPS spectroscopic analyses. The structure of CVD-polymerized HDO (CVD-PHDO) films was different from that of metathesis polymerized HDO (metathesis-PHDO), showing a polyacene-based structure but no polyene structure with acetylenic side groups. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

A Simple Route to Produce Highly Efficient Porous Carbons Recycled from Tea Waste for High-Performance Symmetric Supercapacitor Electrodes

High-performance porous carbons derived from tea waste were prepared by hydrothermal treatment, combined together with KOH activation. The heat-treatment-processed materials possess an abundant hierarchical structure, with a large specific surface of 2235 m² g⁻¹ and wetting-complemental hydrophilicity for electrolytes. In a two-electrode system, the porous carbon electrodes’ built-in supercapacitor exhibited a high specific capacitance of 256 F g⁻¹ at 0.05 A g⁻¹, an excellent capacitance retention of 95.4% after 10,000 cycles, and a low leakage current of 0.014 mA. In our work, the collective results present that the precursor crafted from the tea waste can be a promising strategy to prepare valuable electrodes for high-performance supercapacitors, which offers a practical strategy to recycle biowastes into manufactured materials in energy storage applications.     

Anti-Hair Loss Effect of Adenosine Is Exerted by cAMP Mediated Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway Stimulation via Modulation of Gsk3β Activity in Cultured Human Dermal Papilla Cells

In the present study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms of adenosine for its hair growth promoting effect. Adenosine stimulated the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by modulating the activity of Gsk3β in cultured human dermal papilla cells. It also activated adenosine receptor signaling, increasing intracellular cAMP level, and subsequently stimulating the cAMP mediated cellular energy metabolism. The phosphorylation of CREB, mTOR, and GSK3β was increased. Furthermore, the expression of β-catenin target genes such as Axin2, Lef1, and growth factors (bFGF, FGF7, IGF-1) was also enhanced. The inhibitor study data conducted in Wnt reporter cells and in cultured human dermal papilla cells demonstrated that adenosine stimulates Wnt/β-catenin signaling through the activation of the adenosine receptor and Gsk3β plays a critical role in transmitting the signals from the adenosine receptor to β-catenin, possibly via the Gαs/cAMP/PKA/mTOR signaling cascade.
