Chitosan, a naturally abundant biopolymer, has widely been studied for metal adsorption from various solutions, but the extension of chitosan as an adsorbent to remove organic substances from water and wastewater has seldom been explored. In this study, the adsorption of an azo dye, trisodium 2-hydroxy-1,1'-azonaphthalene-3,4',6-trisulfonate (1), from aqueous solution onto the various degrees of deacetylated chitosan has been investigated. Equilibrium studies have been carried out to determine the capacity of chitosan for dye. The experimental data were analyzed using two isotherm correlations, namely, Langmuir and Freundlich equations. The linear correlation coefficients were determined for each isotherm and the Langmuir provided the best fit. The experimental adsorption isotherms were perfectly reproduced in the simulated data obtained from numerical analysis on the basis of the Langmuir model and the isotherm constants. Adsorption of (1) onto the chitosan flakes was found to be strongly depending on degrees of deacetylation in chitosan and temperatures. Significant amounts of (1) were adsorbed by chitosan 8B (higher degree of deacetylated chitosan), but the adsorption capacity was reduced remarkably with increasing solution temperatures. Thermodynamic parameters such as change in free energy (DeltaG), enthalpy (DeltaH), and entropy (DeltaS) were also determined. In addition, kinetic study indicated that the adsorption process mechanisms were both transport- and attachment-limited.  相似文献

Chiral quaternary ammonium phenoxides were readily prepared from commercially available cinchona alkaloids and proved to be useful new asymmetric organocatalysts. Among various chiral quaternary ammonium phenoxides, a cinchonidine‐derived catalyst that bears both a sterically hindered N1‐9‐anthracenylmethyl group and a strongly electron withdrawing 9‐O‐3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl group were found to be highly effective for the Michael addition of ketene silyl acetals (derived from phenyl carboxylates) and α,β‐unsaturated ketones followed by lactonization. Optically active 3,4‐dihydropyran‐2‐one derivatives were obtained in high yields with excellent control of enantio‐ and diastereoselectivity. This catalyst can be handled in air and stored at room temperature in a sealed bottle without decomposition for at least one month.  相似文献

Abstract

TiO2 and Pt have been intercalated in hectorite and H4Nb6O17. The height of TiO2 and Pt pillars was less than 0.8 nm and the band gap energy of TiO2 pillars was ca. 3.3 eV. Both hectorite/TiO2 and H4Nb6O17(Pt, TiO2) were capable of hydrogen evolution following irradiation from a high pressure mercury are (λ > 290 nm) in the presence of methanol as a sacrificial hole acceptor and the hydrogen evolution was enhanced by co-incorporation of Pt, although hectorite and hectorite/Pt did not show photocatalytic activity. Incorporation of Pt or Pt and TiO2 in the interlayer of H4Nb6O17 has resulted in enhanced photo evolution of hydrogen, however, TiO2 alone in the interlayer of H4Nb6O17 showed adverse photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

This study investigates the effect of ionic liquids (ILs) on the anionic polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA). Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), an isotactic polymer, is prepared by anionic polymerization at a high reaction temperature with an IL that acts as both solvent and additive. The most plausible reaction mechanism is determined using 1H NMR and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The electrostatic interaction between MMA and the IL increases the apparent steric hindrance in MMA, resulting in the isotactic PMMA.  相似文献

Hydroxy-functional macrodisulfides have been synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate or 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate in 2-propanol. Mean degrees of polymerization of the polymer chains beside the disulfide were fixed at 30, 60, and 90; since ATRP has reasonably good living character, the molecular weight distribution is relatively narrow. Furthermore, the macrodisulfides were reduced to synthesize corresponding thiol-terminated polymers with relatively narrow molecular weight distributions. 1H nuclear magnetic resonance and gel permeation chromatography were used to characterize the macrodisulfides and thiol-terminated polymers in terms of their chemical structure, molecular weight, and polydispersity, respectively. Dispersion polymerizations of styrene using the thiol-terminated hydroxy-functional polymers as a transtab (chain transfer agent + colloidal stabilizer) in ethanol resulted in colloidally stable submicrometer-sized polystyrene latex particles. Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and elemental microanalysis were used to characterize the particles in terms of their morphologies, particle sizes and their distributions, and chemical compositions.  相似文献

Colloidal crystallization and amorphous solidification of deionized suspensions of the polydispersed cationic gel spheres of lightly cross-linked poly(2-vinylpyridine), CAIBA-P2VP (107~113 nm in diameter, ±19~22 nm in dispersity), have been studied from the reflection spectroscopy, morphology, phase diagram, and elastic property. Crystallization takes place even for the polydispersed cationic gel spheres by the significant contribution of the extended electrical double layers formed around the spheres. Critical concentrations of melting coexisted with ion exchange resins were around 0.02 in volume fraction and high compared with those of other cationic and anionic gel crystals examined hitherto. The densities (ρ) of CAIBA-P2VP in suspension state, i.e., weight percent of the gel spheres divided by the corresponding volume percent, was around 0.3. The ρ values decreased sharply with decreasing size of P2VP gel spheres, which supports the small gel spheres containing much water inside and being softer than the large ones. The closest intersphere distances of the crystals and/or amorphous solids were much longer than the hydrodynamic diameters of the gel spheres especially at low sphere concentrations. Fluctuation parameters (b) evaluated from the rigidities of CAIBA-P2VP (0.15~0.28) were large compared with those of gel crystals of large-sized P2VP-based cationic gel spheres, anionic thermosensitive gel spheres of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (0.05~0.09) and further much larger than those of typical colloidal hard spheres (around 0.03). The dispersity in sphere size played an important role for distinguishing crystal and amorphous solid. Importance of the extended electrical double layers around the cationic gel spheres is supported in addition to the excluded volume effect of the sphere themselves on the crystallization and/or solidification.  相似文献

A triphosphaazatriangulene (H3L) was synthesized through an intramolecular triple phospha-Friedel–Crafts reaction. The H3L triangulene contains three phosphinate groups and an extended π-conjugated framework, which enables the stimuli-responsive reversible transformation of [Cu(HL)(DMSO)⋅(MeOH)]n, a 3D-MOF that exhibits reversible sorption characteristics, into (H3L⋅0.5 [Cu2(OH)4⋅6 H2O] ⋅4 H2O), a 1D-columnar assembled proton-conducting material. The hydrophilic nature of the latter resulted in a proton conductivity of 5.5×10−3 S cm−1 at 95 % relative humidity and 60 °C.  相似文献

We investigated the fluorescent properties, including the excited-state intermolecular proton transfer, of urea derivatives comprising a coumarin ring, which is a widely used fluorophore. We prepared two different coumarin–urea derivatives, 6CU and 7CU, which bear a urea-based substituent at the 6 and 7 positions of a coumarin ring, respectively. In the presence of the acetate ion, 7CU showed additional tautomer fluorescence emission with respect to 6CU, indicating that tautomer formation depends on the positions of the urea-based substituent on the coumarin ring. Thus, the resonance structures of urea derivatives might play an important role in the behavior of dual fluorescence, which is an important phenomenon applicable to photochemical anion sensing. Moreover, in order to further improve the fluorescence properties of the mentioned derivatives, a CF3 group was introduced in a phenyl ring opposite to a coumarin ring. The fluorescence quantum yield of 7CUCF3 thus synthesized was 65 times as large as that of 7CU, an observation that renders 7CUCF3 a suitable anion sensor candidate. The results of this study will contribute to the development of new molecular designs for highly fluorescent sensing.  相似文献
