Cellulose, which comprises D-glucose and L-glucose (D,L-cellulose), was synthesized from D-glucose (1D) and L-glucose (1L) via cationic ring-opening polymerization. Specifically, the ring-opening copolymerization of 3-O-benzyl-2,6-di-O-pivaloyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (2D) and 3-O-benzyl-2,6-di-O-pivaloyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (2L), synthesized from compounds 1D and 1L, respectively, in a 1:1 ratio, afforded 3-O-benzyl-2,6-di-O-β-D,L-glucopyranan (3DL) with a degree of polymerization (DPn) of 28.5 (Mw/Mn?=?1.90) in quantitative yield. The deprotection of compound 3DL and subsequent acetylation proceeded smoothly to afford acetylated compound 4DL with a DPn of 18.6 (Mw/Mn?=?2.08). The specific rotation of acetylated compound 4DL was?+?0.01°, suggesting that acetylated compound 4DL was optically inactive cellulose triacetate. Furthermore, before acetylation, compound 4DL was an optically inactive cellulose comprising an almost racemic mixture of D-glucose and L-glucose. Compound 4DL was an amorphous polymer. This is the first reported synthesis of optically inactive D,L-cellulose.

Abstract

To assess the risks of organochlorine pesticides discharged into the hydrospheric environment of Egypt, river and lake water, drinking water, suspended solids, sediments and fish were collected during 1993—1994 from the Nile River and Manzala Lake in Egypt and were transported to Japan for chemical analysis. Among different organochlorine pesticides analyzed, p,p′-DDE was the most predominant in fish (7.6 to 67 ng/g wet wt.), sediments (3.2 to 432 ng/g dry wt.) and suspended solids (5.3 tc 138 pg/L). However, in the dissolved phase of water samples HCH compounds predominated (α-HCH, 71 to 2,815 pg/L). Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides, except chlordane, were higher in Manzala Lake than in the River Nile. Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides in fish corresponded with those in sediments from each location. Comparison of organochlorine concentrations in Nile River water with those reported in earlier studies suggested a decrease in concentrations during the last decade. However, concentrations of p,p′-DDE has increased in fish. It appears that the release of this metabolite from contaminated sediment is the major source of p,p′-DDE in fish during recent years.  相似文献

Silica gels doped with Cu2+ ions were prepared from the (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (APTMOS)/tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) systems. Sols showed a broad absorption peak at 640 nm, suggesting 3–5 coordination of the aminopropyl groups to Cu2+. For gels prepared from APTMOS and dried at room temperature, the 640 nm peak decreased and a red-shifted absorption appeared below 400 nm within a few months. The luminescence spectra of the xerogels showed emission bands at 430–470 and 510 nm. The former and latter bands are ascribed to Cu+ monomer and dimer emissions, respectively. These results indicate that Cu2+ ions are reduced to Cu+. When xerogels were prepared from APTMOS/TEOS = 1 (vol/vol), the color of xerogels was blue with an absorption peak at around 670 nm, indicating no reduction of Cu2+ ions.  相似文献

A newly developed vacuum hot press system has been specially designed for the thermal bonding of glass substrates in the fabrication process of Pyrex glass microchemical chips. This system includes a vacuum chamber equipped with a high-pressure piston cylinder and carbon plate heaters. A temperature of up to 900 degrees C and a force of as much as 9800 N could be applied to the substrates in a vacuum atmosphere. The Pyrex substrates bonded with this system under different temperatures, pressures, and heating times were evaluated by tensile strength tests, by measurements of thickness, and by observations of the cross-sectional shapes of the microchannels. The optimal bonding conditions of the Pyrex glass substrates were 570 degrees C for 10 min under 4.7 N/mm(2) of applied pressure. Whereas more than 16 h is required for thermal bonding with a conventional furnace, the new system could complete the whole bonding processes within just 79 min, including heating and cooling periods. Such improvements should considerably enhance the production rate of Pyrex glass microchemical chips. Whereas flat and dust-free surfaces are required for conventional thermal bonding, especially without long and repeated heating periods, our hot press system could press a fine dust into glass substrates so that even the areas around the dust were bonded. Using this capability, we were able to successfully integrate Pt/Ti thin film electrodes into a Pyrex glass microchip.  相似文献

We report resistance measurements on a mesoscopic Al disk whose size is comparable to the superconducting coherence length. As the magnetic field increases, resistance peaks successively appear and some of the peak resistances are larger than the normal state value RN. These peaks are ascribed to the transitions between different vortex states in the superconducting Al disk. The experimental results suggest that some anomalous energy dissipation is caused by the dynamics of the vortices in the confined geometry.  相似文献

Nanoindentation of cellulose diacetate‐graft‐poly(lactide)s (CDA‐g‐PLLAs) synthesized by ring opening graft copolymerization of L ‐lactide in bulk onto the residual hydroxyl positions on CDA were conducted to investigate the effect of the molecular composition and thermal aging on mechanical properties and creep behavior. Continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) technique was used to obtained hardness and elastic modulus. These material properties were expressed as a mean value from 100 to 300 nm depths and an unloading value at final indentation depth. The hardness and elastic modulus in all CDA‐g‐PLLAs were higher than those in pure CDA, indicating that the introduction of PLLA increases the hardness and elastic modulus. With an increase of crystallinity by thermal aging, the hardness and elastic modulus were increased in both CDA‐g‐PLLA and PLLA. The creep test performed by CSM showed that the creep strain of CDA was decreased by the grafting of PLLA. Thermal aging decreased the creep strain of CDA‐g‐PLLA and PLLA. The modification of the InAs quantum dots (QDs) by the GaAs capping growth was studied by using cross-sectional STEM and atomic force microscopy. In case of the GaAs capping growth at 450 °C, it was found that the lateral size of the InAs QDs significantly decreases rather than the height and that this size-shrinkage effect is enhanced for the large QDs. The shrinkage behavior is mainly attributed to the indium surface segregation, strongly depending on the surface strain of the QDs. The growth process of the GaAs capping layer plays an important role for achieving the size ordering of the embedded QDs.  相似文献

Tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) is used to extract tungsten(IV) from 0.5 M hydrochloric acid containing molybdenum(VI) and other metals. Tungsten(VI) in the TBP solution is reduced by tin(II) chloride and n-butyl acetate is used for dilution. The tungsten blue formed in the TBP/n-butyl acetate medium (1:1) is measured at 615 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is about 1000 1 mol?1 cm?1; calibration graphs are linear in the range 0.1–1.5 mg of tungsten.  相似文献
