The crystal structures of the B12‐dependent isomerases (eliminating) diol dehydratase and ethanolamine ammonia‐lyase complexed with adenosylcobalamin were solved with and without substrates. The structures revealed that the peripheral a‐acetamide side chain of the corrin ring directly interacts with the adenosyl group to maintain the group in the catalytic position, and that this side chain swings between the original and catalytic positions in a synchronized manner with the radical shuttling between the coenzyme and substrate/product. Mutations involving key residues that cooperatively participate in the positioning of the adenosyl group, directly or indirectly through the interaction with the a‐side chain, decreased the turnover rate and increased the relative rate of irreversible inactivation caused by undesirable side reactions. These findings guide the engineering of enzymes for improved catalysis and producing useful chemicals by utilizing the high reactivity of radical species.  相似文献

Analyses of 41 elements reveal that Holocene sediments in the Changjiang Estuary bear regular elemental compositions in different sedimentary environments, and Holocene sediments came mainly from the Changjiang River based on compositions of REEs and most trace elements. Some heavy metals are more enriched in the surface sediment than in the deltaic sediments, reflecting human impact. Elemental compositions of the river channel sediment are related to the influence of proximal sediments. Sedimentary environments exert some influences on elemental compositions. Some chemical indices can be used to record chemical weathering undergone by the Changjiang sediment and environmental change.  相似文献

A novel template monomer with multiple methacryloyl groups was synthesized with β‐cyclodextrin by the acetylation of primary hydroxyl groups and the esterification of secondary hydroxyl groups with methacrylic acid anhydride. The average number of methacryloyl groups in the monomer was 11. The radical polymerization of the monomer was carried out with the following initiators: α,α′‐azobisisobutylonitrile, H2O2? Fe2+ redox initiator, p‐xylyl‐N,N‐dimethyldithiocarbamate (XDC), and α‐bromo‐p‐xylyl‐N,N‐dimethyldithiocarbamate (BXDC). When the concentration of the monomer was less than 4.12 × 10?3 M, polymerization was limited inside the molecule, and gelation of the system was hindered. For controlled radical photopolymerization with XDC and BXDC, the methacryloyl groups of the monomer were homogeneously polymerized, and poly(methacrylic acid) with a narrow molecular weight distribution was obtained by the hydrolysis of the polymerized products. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Liquid‐crystalline (LC) hybrid polymers with functionalized silsesquioxanes with various proportions of LC monomer were synthesized by the reaction of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) macromonomer with methacrylate monomer having an LC moiety under common free‐radical conditions. The obtained LC hybrid polymers were soluble in common solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, toluene, and chloroform, and their structures were characterized with Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR, and 29Si NMR. The thermal stability of the hybrid polymers was increased with an increasing ratio of POSS moieties as the inorganic part. Because of the steric hindrance caused by the bulkiness of the POSS macromonomer, the number‐average molecular weight of the hybrid polymers gradually decreased as the molar percentage of POSS in the feed increased. Their liquid crystallinities were very dependent on the POSS segments of the hybrid polymers behaving as hard, compact components. The hybrid polymer with 90 mol % LC moiety (Cube‐LC90) showed liquid crystallinity, larger glass‐transition temperatures, and better stability with respect to the LC homopolymer. The results of differential scanning calorimetry and optical polarizing microscopy showed that Cube‐LC90 had a smectic‐mesophase‐like fine‐grained texture. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Effect of polyanions on the aggregation of methylene blue (MB) was investigated spectrophotometrically. The following polyanions were used: potassium poly(vinyl sulfate), potassium poly(styrenesulfonate), sodium poly(methacrylate), and sodium poly(acrylate). The state of aggregation was largely dependent on the kind of polyanion and polyanion-MB ratio. MB-photo-sensitized isomerization of cis-p-(phenylazo)phenyltrimethylammonium iodide(cis-PTA) to the transisomer was used advantageously to investigate the effect of dye aggregation on the triplet excitation energy transfer between cationic dyes bound to polyanions. Although the efficiency of the excitation energy transfer between MB and cis-PTA was enhanced by the addition of polyanions, the formation of highly aggregated MB reduced the efficiency of the excitation energy transfer. Correlation with the dye aggregation induced by polyanions and the efficiency of excitation energy transfer between dyes was discussed.  相似文献

Electronic as well as ionic conducting properties for oxyapatite-type solid electrolytes based on lanthanum silicate, La9.333 + xSi6O26 + 1.5x (LSO) were investigated in the oxygen-excess region (x > ca. 0.3). We have found that the oxygen excess-type LSO (OE-LSO), namely La10Si6O27 on weighted basis, exhibited high conductivity, and substitution of the Si-site of LSO with some dopants (Mn+) had a positive effect toward the conducting property. Furthermore, it was also found that addition of a very small amount of iron ions into the M-doped OE-LSO, La10(Si6-yMn+y)O27-(2-0.5n)y, improved its conductivity. On the other hand, replacement of the La-site with various ions for La10(Si6-yMn+y)O27-(2-0.5n)y did little to improve conductivity. The electronic transport numbers for Al-doped OE-LSO with Fe-addition, (1-α){La10(Si5.8Al0.2)O26.9}-α(FeOγ), evaluated with the Hebb-Wagner polarization method were very low: i.e., 1.1 × 10− 3 and 2.9 × 10− 3 under P(O2) = 1.1 × 104 Pa at 1073 K for α = 0.00 and 0.005, respectively. Conductivity for each sample was unchanged under humidified atmosphere at 1073 K sustained for over 50 h, revealing that both compositions were chemically stable. It was concluded that 0.995{La10(Si5.8Al0.2)O26.9}-0.005(FeOγ) is suitable for the fuel cell electrolytes because of its high and almost pure ionic conductivity, and its good chemical stability under humidified as well as reducing conditions.  相似文献

Using a high-contrast (10(10):1) and high-intensity (10(21) W/cm(2)) laser pulse with the duration of 40 fs from an optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification/Ti:sapphire laser, a 40 MeV proton bunch is obtained, which is a record for laser pulse with energy less than 10 J. The efficiency for generation of protons with kinetic energy above 15 MeV is 0.1%.  相似文献
