Arsenic contamination of groundwater has long been reported in the Mushidabad district of West Bengal, India. We visited 13 arsenic‐affected families in the Makrampur village of the Beldanga block in Mushidabad during 18–21 December 2001 and collected five shallow tubewell‐water samples used general household purposes, four deep tubewell‐water samples used for drinking and cooking purposes, and 44 urine samples from those families. The arsenic concentrations in the five shallow tubewell‐water samples ranged from 18.0 to 408.4 ppb and those in the four deep tubewell‐water samples were from 5.2 to 9.6 ppb. The average arsenite (arsenic(III)), dimethylarsinic acid (DMA), monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) and arsenate (arsenic(V)) in urine were 28.7 ng mg?1, 168.6 ng mg?1, 25.0 ng mg?1 and 4.6 ng mg?1 creatinine respectively. The average total arsenic was 227.0 ng mg?1 creatinine. On comparison of the ratio of (MMA + DMA) to total arsenic, the average proportion was 86.7 ± 9.2% (mean plus/minus to residual standard deviation, n = 43). The exception was data for one boy, whose proportion was 8.0%. One woman excreted the highest total arsenic, at 2890.0 ng mg?1 creatinine. When using 43 of the urine samples (the exception being the one sample obtained from the boy) there were significantly positive correlations (p < 0.01) between arsenic(III) and MMA, between arsenic(III) and DMA and between MMA and DMA. Urine samples were collected during the daytime and nighttime from spontaneously hypertensive model rats and normal rats without dosing. The 1H NMR spectra were measured for their urine samples, and analyzed by a pattern recognition method, known as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Soft Independent Modeling of Class Analogy (SIMCA). The separation of urinary data due to the diurnal variation (daytime and nighttime) and also to the difference between the two strains of rat was achieved in the PCA score plot. Differences of the urinary profiles in the respective separation were effectively extracted as marker variables by the SIMCA method. NMR measurements coupled with pattern recognition methods provide a straightforward approach to inspect the disease metabolic status and the preliminary screening tool of marker candidates for further development. 相似文献

Summary Several new para-substituted benzyl- or phenyl-type protecting groups and their application to linkers for solid-phase synthesis are described.p-Acylaminobenzyl groups have higher acid stability than thep-methoxybenzyl (MPM) group, but are readily cleaved with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ). Thep-azidobenzyl (Azb) group also has higher acid stability than the MPM group and can be removed much faster than the MPM group by DDQ oxidation after conversion of the azide group into the corresponding iminophosphorane. The acid stability of thep-azido-m-chlorobenzyl group (Cl-Azb) is higher than that of the Azb group. The former can be readily removed by DDQ oxidation after conversion of the azide group into the iminophosphorane. Thep-acylaminophenyl glycoside linker can be readily obtained fromp-nitrophenyl glycoside and can be readily cleaved by ammonium cerium(IV) nitrate (CAN) oxidation. In this paper we obtain asymptotic representations of several variance estimators of U-statistics and study their effects for studentizations via Edgeworth expansions. Jackknife, unbiased and Sen's variance estimators are investigated up to the order op(n-1). Substituting these estimators to studentized U-statistics, the Edgeworth expansions with remainder term o(n-1) are established and inverting the expansions, the effects on confidence intervals are discussed theoretically. We also show that Hinkley's corrected jackknife variance estimator is asymptotically equivalent to the unbiased variance estimator up to the order op(n-1). 相似文献
