Porphyrin-based supramolecular macrocyclic arrays were synthesized as mimics of photosynthetic light-harvesting (LH) antennae. Pentameric and hexameric macrocyclic porphyrin arrays EP5 and EP6 were constructed by complementary coordination of m-bis(ethynylene)phenylene-linked zinc-imidazolylporphyrin Zn-EP-Zn. The proton NMR spectra of noncovalently linked N-EP5 and N-EP6 indicate fast rotation of the porphyrin moieties along the ethyne axis. These macrocycles were covalently linked and identified as C-EP5 (6832 Da) and C-EP6 (8199 Da) by mass spectrometry. Fluorescence quantum yields of C-EP2 (10.0%), C-EP5 (10.1%), and C-EP6 (11.0%), even larger than that of the unit coordination dimer C-EP1 (9.3%), were significantly increased from those of the series without the ethynylene linkage. The order of increasing fluorescence quantum yields was parallel to that of decreasing fluorescence lifetimes (C-EP1 (1.65 ns), C-EP2 (1.45 ns), C-EP5 (1.42 ns), and C-EP6 (1.38 ns)), indicating that the radiative decay rate kF increased relative to the other decay rates with an increase in the number of ring components. Based on the exciton-exciton annihilation and anisotropy depolarization times, the excitation energy hopping (EEH) times in these macrocyclic systems were obtained as 21 ps for C-EP5 and 12.8 ps for C-EP6. EEH times depend strongly on the orientation factor of the component transition dipoles in the macrocyclic arrays. The hexagonal macrocyclic array with an orientation of better transition dipole coupling resulted in faster EEH time compared to the pentagonal one.  相似文献

This article describes the preparation of pH-responsive self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of acylated anthranilate-terminated alkanethiol. These monolayers are formed by chemisorption of the alkanethiol molecules onto a gold surface, resulting in different wetting properties of the surfaces depending upon the pH. By using various characterization techniques (e.g., infrared spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, contact angle measurements, and surface energy analysis), we have found that the changes in the wetting properties originate from the different surface structures of the monolayers in different pH environments. From surface energy analysis, we found that the disperse components of the surface energy on such SAMs predominate after treatment with pH 1 water, whereas the polar components of the surface energy on such SAMs predominate after treatment with pH 13 water. It is greatly anticipated that this line of research will provide new insight into the mechanism behind pH-responsive properties, facilitating the design and synthesis of new surface-active molecules for the fabrication of pH-responsive functional surfaces.  相似文献

The electronic excited states of a meso-meso beta-beta doubly linked bis-porphyrin are comprehensively investigated by measuring its circular dichroism (CD) and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra. The observed spectroscopic properties are rationalized by DFT calculations. The frontier molecular orbitals (MOs) are constructed by the linear combinations of the constituent monomers' four MOs. Comparison of a theoretical CD spectrum based on time-dependent DFT (TDDFT) with the experimental spectra resulted in the assignment of the helical conformation of the dimer. This assignment is contrary to the previous assignment based on the point-dipole approximation (exciton coupling theory).  相似文献

The chemoselective polymer blotting method allows for rapid and efficient synthesis of glycopeptides based on a "catch and release" strategy between solid-phase and water-soluble polymer supports. We have developed a heterobifunctional linker sensitive to glutamic acid specific protease (BLase). The general procedure consists of five steps, namely (i) the solid-phase synthesis of glycopeptide containing BLase sensitive linker, (ii) subsequent deprotections and the release of the glycopeptide from the resin, (iii) chemoselective blotting of the glycopeptide intermediates in the presence of water-soluble polymers with oxylamino functional groups, (iv) sugar elongations using glycosyltransferases, and (v) the release of target glycopeptides from the polymer platform by selective BLase promoted hydrolysis. The combined use of the solid-phase chemical syntheses of peptides and the enzymatic syntheses of carbohydrates on water-soluble polymers would greatly contribute to the production of complicated glycopeptide libraries, thereby enhancing applicative research. We report here a high-throughput synthetic system for the various types of MUC1 glycopeptides exhibiting a variety of sugar moieties. It is our belief that this concept will become part of the entrenched repertoire for the synthesis of biologically important glycopeptides on the basis of glycosyltransferase reactions in automated and combinatorial syntheses.  相似文献

The excitation-energy-hopping (EEH) times within two-dimensional cyclic zinc(II)-porphyrin arrays 5 and 6, which were prepared by intermolecular coordination and ring-closing metathesis reaction of olefins, were deduced by modeling the EEH process based on the anisotropy depolarization as well as the exciton-exciton annihilation dynamics. Assuming the number of energy-hopping sites N = 5 and 6, the two different experimental observables, that is, anisotropy depolarization and exciton-excition annihilation times, consistently give the EEH times of 8.0 +/- 0.5 and 5.3 +/- 0.6 ps through the 1,3-phenylene linkages of 5 and 6, respectively. Accordingly, the self-assembled cyclic porphyrin arrays have proven to be well-defined two-dimensional models for natural light-harvesting complexes.  相似文献

The scope and limitations of the ruthenium-catalyzed propargylic substitution reaction of propargylic alcohols with heteroatom-centered nucleophiles are presented. Oxygen-, nitrogen-, and phosphorus-centered nucleophiles such as alcohols, amines, amides, and phosphine oxide are available for this catalytic reaction. Only the thiolate-bridged diruthenium complexes can work as catalysts for this reaction. Results of some stoichiometric and catalytic reactions indicate that the catalytic propargylic substitution reaction proceeds via an allenylidene complex formed in situ, whereby the attack of nucleophiles to the allenylidene C(gamma) atom is a key step. Investigation of the relative rate constants for the reaction of propargylic alcohols with several para-substituted anilines reveals that the attack of anilines on the allenylidene C(gamma) atom is not involved in the rate-determining step and rather the acidity of conjugated anilines of an alkynyl complex, which is formed after the attack of aniline on the C(gamma) atom, is considered to be the most important factor to determine the rate of this catalytic reaction. The key point to promote this catalytic reaction by using the thiolate-bridged diruthenium complexes is considered to be the ease of the ligand exchange step between a vinylidene ligand on the diruthenium complexes and another propargylic alcohol in the catalytic cycle. The reason why only the thiolate-bridged diruthenium complexes promote the ligand exchange step more easily with respect to other monoruthenium complexes in this catalytic reaction should be that one Ru moiety, which is not involved in the allenylidene formation, works as an electron pool or a mobile ligand to another Ru site. The catalytic procedure presented here provides a versatile, direct, and one-step method for propargylic substitution of propargylic alcohols in contrast to the so far well-known stoichiometric and stepwise Nicholas reaction.  相似文献
