Application of the chugaev reaction for the quantitative determination of ecdysones

Summary The spectrophotometric characteristics of the products of the Chugaev reaction with ecdysones have been studied. Methods have been proposed for determination of ecdysterone and viticosterone E in an artificial mixture and of ecdysterone in extracts of plant raw material by thin-layer chromatography followed by the Chugaev reaction.A. Epoxy Composites Modified with Finely Dispersed Fillers

The thermal stability and mechanical strength of composites based on ED-20 epoxy oligomer cured with isomethyltetrahydrophthalic and methylendic anhydrides was studied as influenced by the nature and properties of finely dispersed inorganic fillers, such as carbon black, aluminum oxide, and silica nanoparticles.     

Studies in the furan series

A study was made of certain transformations of the bicyclic compounds of the fur an series synthesized from 3,4-bis(chloromethyl)furan, N-butyl-4H, 6H-furo [3,4-c]pyrrole and 4H,6H-thieno[3,4-c]furan. On the basis of the same dichloride, 3,4-dimethyl furan and furan-3,4-dialdehyde were synthesized.For part XLVI, see [10].     

Nitration of 5-formyl-substituted 2-cyclopropylfurans and 2-methylfurans and the corresponding thiophenes

In the nitration of 5-formyl-substituted 2-cyclopropylfurans and the corresponding thiophenes, in addition to the formation of the corresponding 3-nitro derivative the replacement of the formyl group by a nitro group takes place. For a thiophene derivative the latter direction of the reaction is observed to a substantially smaller degree. Under nitration conditions, 5-formylsylvane is converted only into 5-nitrosylvane, while the corresponding formylmethylthiophene is nitrated exclusively in position 3. The difference observed in the behavior on nitration of the furans and thiophenes studied is explained by the different degrees of participation of the heteroatom in the delocalization of the charges in the heterocyclic ipso-ions formed as intermediates.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 455–460, April, 1980.     

Effect of 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy nitroxide substituent on kinetic parameters of pseudoliving polymerization

The main kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the pseudoliving radical polymerization of styrene mediated by 4-linoleamido-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy have been studied. It has been shown that the introduction of the said substituent into nitroxide leads to a marked reduction in the rate constant of reinitiation that is compensated for by the simultaneous reduction in the rate constant of reversible termination. As a result, the rate of pseudoliving polymerization, the rate of molecular mass growth, and the polydispersity of the polymer appear to be practically the same for processes mediated by both unsubstituted and substituted nitroxides.     

Methane conversion with carbon dioxide on nickel aluminides

The catalytic activity of several samples based on nickel aluminides in methane conversion with carbon dioxide was studied. Nickel aluminides were prepared by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. The Ni₃Al system containing the nickel metal phase exhibited high activity at temperatures above 1073 K. The systems based on Ni₂Al₃ and NiAl only containing intermetallic compound phases were inactive.     

Synthesis of N-benzyloxycarbonyl-N-methylaminoacids from oxazolidine-5-one derivatives

Hydrogenolysis of 3-benzyloxycarbonyloxazolidine-5-one and 3-benzyloxycarbonyl-4-benzyloxazolidine-5-one by Et₃SiH in the presence of F₃.CCO₂H is demonstrated to be a convenient method for preparing substituted N-methylaminoacids. In contrast with catalytic hydrogenation on Pd/C catalyst, the benzyloxycarbonyl is not removed and the methyl is not lost using this method.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 5, pp. 681–683, May, 1992.     

Synthesis and optical properties of nanohybrids in the system constituted by silica and lanthanide phosphoramide complexes

Synthesis of 3-imino and 3-ylideno derivatives of 4-fluoro-5-polyfluoroalkyl-1,2-dithiolenes

Reactions of 4-fluoro-5-polyfluoroalkyl-1,2-dithiol-3-thiones with hydroxylamine and hydrazines occur with replacement of the thiocarbonyl by imino group affording oximes and hydrazones respectively. N-Alkyl-and N-aryl-3-imino-1,2-dithiolenes formed in reactions of 3-chlorothio-1,2-dithiolium salts with primary alkyl-or arylamines. 3-Chlorothio-1,2-dithiolium salts react with compounds possessing an active methylene group yielding 3-ylideno derivatives of 1,2-dithiolenes.
