Simple evaluation of Franck–Condon factors and non‐Condon effects in the Morse potential

The calculation of Franck–Condon factors between different 1‐D Morse potential eigenstates using a formula derived from the Wigner function is discussed. Our numerical calculations using a simple program written in Mathematica are compared with other calculations. We show that our results have a similar accuracy as those calculations performed with more sophisticated methods. Synthesis and nitration of some 4-cyclopropyl- and 4-(p-cyclopropylphenyl)-2-aminothiophenes

A number of cyclopropyl-substituted crotononitriles have been synthesized by a Knoevenagel condensation. Reaction of these compounds with sulfur in the presence of a base gives substituted 4-cyclopropyl- and 4-cyclopropylphenyl-2-aminothiophenes, while nitration of some acetylaminothiophenes with acetyl nitrate in acetic anhydride at low temperature gives the corresponding nitro derivatives.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 8, pp. 1045–1049, August, 1988.     

Modification of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) Track Membranes by Sorption of Poly(Ethylene Glycol)

Sorption of poly(ethylene glycol) on poly(ethylene terephthalate) track membranes was studied at different pH. The hydrophilic-hydrophobic properties of the intact membranes and those modified with poly(ethylene glycol) are compared. The membrane-aqueous human serum albumin and membrane-aqueous insulin adhesive tensions were determined for modified membranes. The competitive sorption of human serum albumin and poly(ethylene glycol) from aqueous solution on the track membranes is analyzed.     

Association of Formaldehyde in Aqueous-Alcoholic Systems

In the neutral systems formaldehyde-water-alcohol (methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol) at 25°C, formaldehyde is preferentially present as hemiacetals. The mean equilibrium constants of step polycondensation of formaldehyde are calculated.     

Chloroaqua Complexes [M3S4(H2O)9?xClx](4?x)+ (M = Mo, W; x = 4, 6, 7) and Their Supramolecular Compounds with Cucur[8]uril

Compounds of trigonal cluster chloroaqua complexes with cucurbit[8]uril were synthesized by slowly evaporating HCl solutions of chalcogenides heterometallic cubane cluster complexes of molybdenum and tungsten with cucurbit[8]uril in air; the complexes were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis: (H₃O)₈[Mo₃S₄(H₂O)_2.5Cl_6.5]₂Cl(PdCl₄)·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)· 29H₂O (a = 13.3183(17) Å, b = 13.7104(18) Å, c = 18.225(3) Å; α = 80.263(3)°, β = 77. 958(3)°, γ = 87.149(4)°, V = 3207.4(7) ų, space group P , Z = 1, ρ(calc) = 1.900 g/cm³), (H₃O)₄ [Mo₃S₄(H₂O)₃Cl₆]₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)₃·68H₂O (a = 21.413(6) Å, c = 49.832(10) Å; γ = 120°, V = 19788(8) ų, space group R , Z = 3, ρ(calc) = 1.695 g/cm³), (H₃O)₆ [Mo₃S₄(H₂O)₃Cl₆]₂Cl₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)·12H₂O (a = 15.881(2) Å, b = 17.191(2) Å, c = 23.276(4) Å; β = 98.865(15)°, V = 6278.7(15) ų, space group P2₁/c, Z = 2, ρ(calc) = 1.638 g/cm³), [W₃S₄(H₂O)₅Cl₄]₂·(C₄₈H₄₈N₃₂O₁₆)₃·35H₂O (a = 21.038(3) Å; α = 61.20(1)°, V = 6762.0(14) ų, space group R , Z = 1, ρ(calc) = 1.582 g/cm³). New palladium nanoclusters. Synthesis,structure, and catalytic properties

The reduction of palladium(ii) carboxylates Pd₃(OCOR)₆ (R = Me, Et, CHMe₂, CMe₃) with hydrogen in alcohol solutions containing 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and subsequent oxidation with oxygen gave new palladium nanoclusters, mainly particles with a nearly spherical metal core and an average size of 18 . Based on elemental analysis, NMR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and EXAFS, nanoclusters were described by the idealized formula Pd₁₄₇phen₃₂O₆₀(OCOR)₃₀. The specimens contained up to 25% smaller 55-atomic Pd clusters with a 10 metal core. New nanoclusters catalyze hydrogenation of alkynes and alkenes, reduction of nitriles with formic acid, oxidation of aliphatic and benzylic alcohols, oxidative esterification of ethylene and propylene, and disproportionation of benzyl alcohol into toluene and benzaldehyde.     

Sesquiterpene Lactones and Flavonoids from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Artemisia albida</Emphasis>

The five known lactones matricarin, austricin, canin, and achillin guaianolides and argolide germacranolide and the two flavonoids eupatilin and its 7-O-methyl ester were isolated for the first time from the aerial part of Artemisia albida Willd. Synthesis,complexation, and photochemistry of benzobisthiazole-based bis(crown ether)

Benzobisthiazole-based bis(crown ether) was synthesized and its complexation with alkali and alkaline earth cations was studied. Photochemical transformations of the free ligand and its complexes with alkaline earth cations involve E,Z-photoisomerization and [2+2] photocycloaddition. Dedicated to Academician N. S. Synthetic Transformations of Higher Terpenoids: IX. Nitrogen-Containing Heterocyclic Compounds on the Basis of Lambertianic Acid
