This work explores the sensitization of luminescent lanthanide Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) cations by the electronic structure of zinc sulfide (ZnS) semiconductor nanoparticles. Excitation spectra collected while monitoring the lanthanide emission bands reveal that the ZnS nanoparticles act as an antenna for the sensitization of Tb(3+) and Eu(3+). The mechanism of lanthanide ion luminescence sensitization is rationalized in terms of an energy and charge transfer between trap sites and is based on a semiempirical model, proposed by Dorenbos and co-workers (Dorenbos, P. J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 2003, 15, 8417-8434; J. Lumin. 2004, 108, 301-305; J. Lumin. 2005, 111, 89-104. Dorenbos, P.; van der Kolk, E. Appl. Phys. Lett. 2006, 89, 061122-1-061122-3; Opt. This model implies that the mechanisms of luminescence sensitization of Tb(3+) and Eu(3+) in ZnS nanoparticles are different; namely, Tb(3+) acts as a hole trap, whereas Eu(3+) acts as an electron trap. Further testing of this model is made by extending the studies from ZnS nanoparticles to other II-VI semiconductor materials; namely, CdSe, CdS, and ZnSe.  相似文献

We present a simple model of transmission across a metallic mesoscopic ring. In one of its arm an electron interacts with a single magnetic impurity via an exchange coupling. We show that entanglement between electron and spin impurity states leads to reduction of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in the transmission coefficient. The spin-conductance is asymmetric in the flux reversal as opposed to the two-probe electrical conductance which is symmetric. In the same model, in contradiction to the naive expectation of a current magnification effect, we observe enhancement as well as suppression of this effect depending on the system parameters. The limitations of this model to the general notion of dephasing or decoherence in quantum systems are pointed out.  相似文献

在超短超强飞秒SILEX-Ⅰ激光装置上,开展了薄膜靶激光质子加速的实验研究。实验发现激光预脉冲、靶厚度对质子加速有很大的影响。在激光强度3×1018~3×1019W/cm2条件下,采用前表面厚度为3μm铜、后表面镀4μm厚CH靶,质子的最大能量达到3.15 MeV。而对190 nm厚CH膜靶,质子的最大能量为0.54 MeV。初步研究了激光偏振对质子加速的影响,相同激光功率条件下,圆偏振激光加速产生的质子最大能量略低于P偏振打靶。这些结果与靶后鞘层加速机制相一致。  相似文献

We synthesized ZnO-SiO2 composite opal and ZnO inverse opal by electrodeposition using SiO2-opal template and polystyrene (PS)-opal template, respectively. Compared with compact ZnO nanocrystal film also prepared by electrodeposition, ordered ZnO nanostructures exhibit more significant red-shift and broadening of the UV peak with increasing excitation power, which is due to a stronger local heating effect in ordered ZnO nanostructures. We developed a quantitative analytical method to investigate photoluminescence (PL) of ZnO based on laser heating effects. The experimental data agree well with fitting curves derived from the electron-phonon interaction model. Important parameters, such as electron-phonon coupling strength and thermal activation energy, can be obtained by fitting experimental data. The resonant Raman spectra provide further evidence that the analyses based on laser heating effects are feasible.  相似文献

Seed plants express cellulose synthase (CESA) protein isoforms with non-redundant functions, but how the isoforms function differently is unknown. Compared to bacterial cellulose synthases, CESAs have two insertions in the large cytosolic loop: the relatively well-conserved Plant Conserved Region (P-CR) and a Class Specific Region (CSR) that varies between CESAs. Absent any atomic structure of a plant CESA, we used ab initio protein structure prediction and molecular modeling to explore how these plant-specific regions may modulate CESA function. We modeled P-CR and CSR peptides from Arabidopsis thaliana CESAs representing the six clades of seed plant CESAs. As expected, the predicted wild type P-CR structures were similar. Modeling of the mutant P-CR of Atcesa8 R362K (fra6) suggested that changes in local structural stability and surface electrostatics may cause the mutant phenotype. Among CSRs within CESAs required for primary wall cellulose synthesis, the amino sequence and the modeled arrangement of helices was most similar in AtCESA1 and AtCESA3. Genetic complementation of known Arabidopsis mutants showed that the CSRs of AtCESA1 and AtCESA3 can function interchangeably in vivo. Analysis of protein surface electrostatics led to ideas about how the surface charges on CSRs may mediate protein–protein interactions. Refined modeling of the P-CR and CSR regions of GhCESA1 from cotton modified their tertiary structures, spatial relationships to the catalytic domain, and preliminary predictions about CESA oligomer formation. Cumulatively, the results provide structural clues about the function of plant-specific regions of CESA.  相似文献

Large enhancements have been observed in the sub-barrier fusion cross sections for Ti+Ni systems in our previous studies. Coupled channel calculations incorporating couplings to 2+ and 3 states failed to explain these enhancements completely. A possibilty of transfer channels contributing to the residual enhancements had been suggested. In order to investigate the role of relevant transfer channels, measurements of one- and two-nucleon transfer were carried out for 46,48Ti+61Ni systems.
