Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles are increasingly being used to noninvasively track cells, target specific molecules and monitor gene expression in vivo. Contrast changes that are subtle relative to intrinsic sources of contrast present a significant detection challenge. Here, we describe a postprocessing algorithm, called Phase map cross-correlation Detection and Quantification (PDQ), with the purpose of automating identification and quantification of localized accumulations of SPIO agents. The method is designed to sacrifice little flexibility - it works on previously acquired data and allows the use of conventional high-SNR pulse sequences with no extra scan time. We first investigated the theoretical detection limits of PDQ using a simulated dipole field. This method was then applied to three-dimensional (3D) MRI data sets of agarose gel containing isolated dipoles and ex vivo transplanted allogenic rat hearts infiltrated by numerous iron-oxide-labeled macrophages as a result of organ rejection. A simulated dipole field showed this method to be robust in very low signal-to-noise ratio images. Analysis of agarose gel and allogenic rat heart shows that this method can automatically identify and count dipoles while visualizing their biodistribution in 3D renderings. In the heart, this information was used to calculate a quantitative index that may indicate its degree of cellular infiltration.  相似文献

The leaves, stem, and roots of two types of shrubs (tea (Camellia sinensis) and sweet leaf (Sauropus androgynus)) and two types of herbs (vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides L. Nash) and maize (Zea mays L)) and the Thucuc soil where the plants were growing were collected to be studied. The contents of 22 elements in the samples were determined by three methods: X-Ray fluorescence analysis (XRFA), gamma activation analysis (GAA), and the tracking method to study the distribution of these elements in plants and the soil-plant relationship. This study was carried out at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions (FLNR), Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna, Russia. The authors report upon the increased light‐output power (Pout) via a reduction in the forward voltage (Vf) for nonpolar a ‐plane GaN LEDs using Ni/Al/Ni/Au n‐type ohmic contacts. The specific contact resistivity of the Ni/Al/Ni/Au contact is found to be as low as 5.6 × 10–5 whereas that of a typical Ti/Al/Ni/Au contact is 6.8 × 10–4 Ω cm2, after annealing at 700 °C. The X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy results show that the upward surface band bending is less pronounced for the Ni/Al contact compared to the Ti/Al contact, leading to a decrease in the effective Schottky barrier height (SBH). The Vf of the nonpolar LEDs decreases by 10% and Pout increases by 15% when the Ni/Al/Ni/Au scheme is used instead of the typical Ti/Al/Ni/Au metal scheme. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. A novel quantum secret sharing (QSS) scheme is proposed on the basis of Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT). In the scheme, the classical messages are mapped to secret sequences according to CRT equations, and distributed to different receivers by different dimensional superdense-coding respectively. CRT's secret sharing function,together with high-dimensional superdense-coding, provide convenience, security, and large capability quantum channel forsecret distribution and recovering. Intense green‐emitting Li(Gd,Y)F4:Yb,Er/LiGdF4 core/shell (C/S) upconversion nanophosphors (UCNPs) with a tetragonal bipyramidal morphology are synthesized. The morphology and UC luminescence of the Li(Gd,Y)F4:Yb,Er UCNPs are significantly affected by the Li precursors, and bright UC green‐emitting Li(Gd,Y)F4:Yb,Er UCNPs with a tetragonal bipyramidal shape, i.e., UC tetragonal bipyramids (UCTBs), are synthesized using LiOH·H2O as a Li precursor. A LiGdF4 shell is grown on the Li(Gd,Y)F4:Yb,Er UCTBs, and the C/S UCNPs exhibit 4.7 times higher luminescence intensity than core UCTBs. The C/S UCNPs show a high absolute UC quantum yield of 4.6% under excitation with 980 nm near infrared (NIR) light, and the UC luminescence from the C/S UCNPs is stable under continuous irradiation with the 980 nm NIR laser for 1 h. The hydrophobic surfaces of the as‐synthesized C/S UCNPs are modified to hydrophilic surfaces by using poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) for bioimaging applications. They are applied to human cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa) cell imaging and SK‐MEL‐2 melanoma cell imaging and in vivo imaging, including subcutaneous and intramuscular imaging, and UC luminescence images with high signal‐to‐noise ratio are obtained. Furthermore, sentinel‐lymph‐node imaging is successfully conducted with the PAA‐capped Li(Gd,Y)F4:Yb,Er/LiGdF4 C/S UCNPs under illumination with NIR light.  相似文献

In this article, we report the principle and conceptual design of a fundamentally different technology in fabricating high precision aberration free optical devices. The tip-tilt of facet in a mirror array is produced by digitally controlled line-tilts of rows and columns. It has not only provided a cost-effective designing methodology in optical physics but also led to a much finer precision of 1 mili arc sec or less. As examples of the application of the proposed digitalised optics, two case studies have been given: a 10 m Schmidt telescope (off-axis) and an 8 m Cassegrain telescope (on-axis).  相似文献

Rate constants for a wide range of binary aqueous mixtures and product selectivities (S) in ethanol–water (EW) and methanol–water (MW) mixtures, are reported at 25 °C for solvolyses of benzenesulfonyl chloride and the 4‐chloro‐derivative. S is defined as follows using molar concentrations: S = ([ester product]/[acid product]) × ([water solvent]/[alcohol solvent]). Additional selectivity data are reported for solvolyses of 4‐Z‐substituted sulfonyl chlorides (Z = OMe, Me, H, Cl and NO2) in 2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol–water. To explain these results and previously published data on kinetic solvent isotope effects (KSIEs) and on other solvolyses of 4‐nitro and 4‐methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride, a mechanistic spectrum involving a change from third order to second order is proposed. The molecularity of these reactions is discussed, along with new term ‘SN3–SN2 spectrum’ and its connection with the better established term ‘SN2–SN1 spectrum’. We have developed an integrated optical system to measure the warpage of a microdisplay product at post-packaging die-attach temperature and to test its hermeticity after manufacturing. This system is constructed based on the principle of Twyman/Green (T/G) interferometry and Newton interferometry. T/G interferometry is used to characterize warpage of the microdisplay's base-plate, while Newton interferometry is used to characterize the gap variance between face-plate and base-plate of the microdisplay. With these measurements, deformation and shape of the microdisplay can be comprehensively determined during its manufacturing process, which is critical for its quality test and reliability evaluation. Delicate mechanical system was designed to facilitate the optics integration and alignment. To evaluate the performance of the optical system itself, warpage of a sample was re-measured with Tailor–Hobson profilometer whose resolution is 10 nm, the results from these two testing systems agree well with each other. Some application examples of the integrated testing system were presented to verify its work efficiency.  相似文献
