Can TMS and DSS be used as NMR references for cyclodextrin species in aqueous solution?

Tetramethylsilane (TMS) can be included by -cyclodextrin (-CD), and sodium 2,2-dimethylsilapentane-5-sulphonate (DSS) can form inclusion complexes with - and -CD. The NMR chemical shifts are changed considerably as a result of the strong interaction between CD and the guest compound in the inclusion complexes. A downfield shift of as much as 0.63 ppm shift downfield has been observed for the protons of external TMS in CD aqueous solution. In view of this, the question arises of whether TMS and DSS can be used as internal references. DSS in D₂O is suggested as an external reference for aqueous cyclodextrin solution in NMR measurements.     

STUDY ON THE SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES OF MACRORETICULAR IPN POLYACRYLAMIDE—POLY(VINYL—ETHYLENEDIAMINE)CHELATE SORBENTS

A new series of MR-IPN polyacrylamide—poly(vinyl-ethylenediamine)chelatesorbents were prepared by the reaction of ethylenediamine with MR-IPN matrixes.The newchelate sorbent showed good sorption properties for auric and platinic ions.     

Synthesis and characterization of Ru2(DMBA)4X2 (X = CN, N3, N(CN)2, I): controlling structural, redox, and magnetic properties with axial ligands

Metathesis reactions between Ru(2)(DMBA)(4)Cl(2) (DMBA = N,N'-dimethylbenzamidinate) and MX (M = Na and K) yielded bis-adduct derivatives Ru(2)(DMBA)(4)X(2) (X = CN (1), N(3) (2), N(CN)(2) (3)). Metathesis reactions between Ru(2)(DMBA)(4)(NO(3))(2) and KI resulted in Ru(2)(DMBA)(4)I(2) (4). Compound 1 is diamagnetic, while compounds 2-4 are paramagnetic (S = 1). Both compounds 1 and 2 undergo two reversible one-electron processes, an oxidation and a reduction, while compound 3 features a quasireversible reduction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the Ru-Ru bond lengths are 2.4508(9), 2.3166(7), 2.304[1], and 2.328(1) A for compounds 1-4, respectively. Structural and electrochemical data clearly indicate that the axial ligands impart a significant influence on the electronic structures of diruthenium species.     

Studies on the Synthesis and Properties of Temperature Responsive and Biodegradable Hydrogels

Novel linear poly(NIPA‐co‐CL) copolymers have been synthesized by radical copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPA) and 2‐methylene‐1,3‐dioxepane (MDO). The structure of copolymers was confirmed by ¹H NMR and IR spectroscopy. Cross‐linked poly(NIPA‐co‐CL) hydrogels have also been prepared in toluene using N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide as cross‐linking agent. The hydrogels thus obtained exhibit good temperature response and are biodegradable in the presence of proteinase K.

A theoretical study of the interactions between N, N-dimethylformamide and aromatic hydrocarbons

The B3LYP and MP2 methods with 6-31G* basis set were used to predict the geometries of N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) dimer and DMF–aromatic hydrocarbons interaction systems. A total of 10 conformers were obtained with no imaginary frequencies, respectively. The interaction energies of these binary mixtures have been obtained. The analyses of chelpg charge distribution and the atoms in molecules theory (AIM) were used to analyze the nature of the interaction. The results show the presence of hydrogen bonds between DMF and aromatic hydrocarbons. The interaction between DMF and benzonitrile is the strongest with the interaction energy of −21.58 kJ mol⁻¹ (BSSE corrected), and the intensity order of interactions is DMF–benzonitrile: d2 > DMF–DMF: a2 > DMF–toluene: c1 > DMF–benzene: b2.     

A preliminary study on fabrication of nanoscale fibrous chitosan membranes in situ by biospecific degradation

A new approach for in situ fabrication of nanoscale fibrous chitosan membrane by biospecific degradation under physiological situation was studied. The chitosan binary blend membranes were fabricated by solvent casting of chitosan solution containing highly deacetylated chitosan (HDC) and moderately deacetylated chitosan (MDC) with different ratio. The biodegradation process was performed in PBS (pH 7.4) containing lysozyme at the temperature of 37 °C. Experimental results from weight loss, reducing sugar in surrounding media, FT-IR, X-ray diffraction, gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and SEM throughout the study showed that the biospecific degradation by lysozyme had removed MDC component selectively. When the ratio of MDC in the binary blend membranes amounted to 0.5, nanoscale domains of HDC and MDC were obtained, and thus a nanoscale fibrous structure was fabricated after biospecific degradation of MDC. This nanofibrous structure and the biospecific degradation of chitosan membranes can have potential advantages and interesting implications in tissue engineering and drug delivery.     

Synthesis of 4-[(1,3-diaminopyrrolo[3′,4′:4,5]pyrido[2,3-d]-pyrimidin-8-yl)benzoyl]-L-glutamic acid as a potential antifolate

This paper is dedicated to the memory of Professor Roland K. Robins The synthesis of 4-[(1,3-diaminopyrrolo[3′,4′:4,5]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-8-yl)benzoyl]-L-glutamic acid ( 18 ), a potential antifolate and anticancer agent, has been achieved starting from 1,4-dibromobutan-2-ol with alkyl p-aminobenzoic acids. Condensation of these two agents gave 1-(4-alkoxycarbonylphenyl)pyrrolidin-3-ols 7a,b , which were oxidized to the corresponding pyrrolidin-3-one derivatives 8a,b . Compounds 8a,b were converted into 1,3-diamino-8-(4-alkoxycarbonylphenyl)-7,8-dihydro-9H-pyrrolo[3′,4′:4,5]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines 12a,b in 4 steps. Saponification of 12b the benzoate ester and coupling with di-tert-butyl glutamate afforded a mixture of 7,8-dihydro product 16 and its aromatized derivative 17 . Finally hydrolysis of esters 16 or 17 gave only the title compound 18 . The 7,8-dihydro tricyclic derivatives were easily air-oxidized to form their fully aromatized compounds. The title compound 18 was one tenth less active than MTX against HL-60 cells in culture.     

N(1)取代5-氟尿嘧啶乙酸、5-氟尿嘧啶丙酸与Cu(Ⅱ)、Co(Ⅱ)、Ni(Ⅱ)、Zn(Ⅱ)、Mn(Ⅱ)的配合物的合成及表征

合成了N(1)取代5-氟尿嘧啶乙酸、5-氟尿嘧啶丙酸与铜(Ⅱ)、钴(Ⅱ)、镍(Ⅱ)和锰(Ⅱ)的十种金属配合物。通过元素分析、差热-热重分析确定了它们的化学组成,并对这些化合物进行了红外光谱、氢核磁共振谱,电子光谱的表征。讨论了各配合物中金属离子与配体的配位状态。在Cu(Ⅱ)配合物中,Cu(Ⅱ)是与配体的N³原子和C⁴上的羰基氧原子配位,其他金属配合物中,金属离子是与配体的C²的羰基氧原子和羧基配位。     

Some results on the geometry of Choquet simplices

In this paper, we give some properties of Choquet simplices which lead to the characterization of the closed Choquet simplices of ⁿ.The results of this paper were presented at the Conference on Convexity and Foundation of Geometry held in Haifa (10–14 March 1975).
